Hi Tony. That large red boulder would make a great sculpture. I'm still learning to make cabs so jasper polishes well and a good material to hone my skills on.
Nice looking red Jasper.. I'm a jasper fan also... I have some tigers tell jasper that im excited to cab, but I need some new lap wheels for jasper and other harder stones I'm not able to cut just yet..
Giday Cliff, another good little video. While we do have Jasper here in SE Qld, I have not heard of anywhere with that amount. Those pieces should make some nice looking cabochons. I have only found a couple of small pieces pieces which have that distinctive waxy feel, do those big pieces have that same waxy feel. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
I cut some serpentine jasper with that deep red and it was a very dirty material. I had to strain my saw cutting oil because I couldn't cut other materials and so far haven't tried cabbing because of the mess.
are jaspers/ agates ever faceted? im a big fan of jasper/agate, but i usually make them into cabuchons. any info on faceting jasper/agate would be much appriciated.
Opaque gems are seldom faceted, but it is occasionally done. Plenty of highly-polished facets make about any stone look good, if you have the time and machinery.
Thank you Cliff for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. I've been a rock hound for more year's than I'll say with a full collection of rocks and minerals. It's now time to step up my game to the next level. Which brings me to my question !! Which fassetting machine can you recommend??
Great video. Out in the rough with rough stones...nice.
Thanks Wayne...Yes it was a rough outing.
That was a good trip out Cliff. Amazing to see those large outcrops of Jasper. The look good cut and would like to see some cabachons. Thank you

It's amazing you have all of this on your doorstep. Thanks for the video!
It's good to that it's easy to get to.
Thanks Cliff. I spent years driving through that region and had no idea. Makes me wonder what else I drive past and never stop to look....
There is plenty in the Corop district.
Nice colour! I've read about jasper before but I didn't know it looked like this in its natural state. Thanks for sharing this trip, Cliff!
Beautiful red jasper. Thanks! Love the scenic views and beautiful, raw gemstones!
Thanks Karen...I thought things were pretty dry. It would look much better in winter.
Very nice red jasper thanks for taking us along Cliff.
Thanks RC.
Beautiful stuff! Too bad about the wind, but I was able to hear the conversation anyway.
Thanks Chris, the weather was just miserable.
Terrific stuff, perfect for tumbling, love it!
Thanks.

Enjoyed it very much.
I have never seen boulders of Jaspers before. They look great 👍
Love the landscape!
The landscape was dry. Nicer in winter Tammy.

Great video, regardless of wind noise, can we see what you make from this jasper please
Thanks Scott...In winter I'll go out again. Look for different colours.

It cut well. Fairly hard material. I use the gem club saw.

Bacana 👏👏👏👏
Not gonna lie with all that talk of making cabuchons I was kinda hoping you'd have a example of it at the end of your video
