Thanks, you gave us confidence that we could do it. However, our crossbars are thicker than yours, so the only way we could it to fit was placing the plastic separators under the roof rack and above the cross bars. It seemed that you showed it under the cross bars instead. In any case it required some force to get the roof rack horizontals into the slots in the separators. It worked perfectly in the end. I am guessing the plastic separators between the cross bars and roof rack reduces vibrations transmitted to roof rack. Finally, the manfacturers diagram shows the wing nuts on top. I think the way you showed it with wing nuts below means less chance of scratching the cargo.

Thanks for watching & for the comment! I'm sure you'll help someone out with the same problem! I can't believe how noisy the roof rack was on the car, haha, it made a huge difference once removed - both in noise & mpg. But they sure do come in handy when needed.

You got the brackets on wrong. The U goes up. The plastic “spacer” goes on the bottom, and the metal piece goes on the top. You screw them on top, not on the bottom.

If you screw the nuts on the top like they are supposed to be. They get in the way of plastic totes and crack the bottoms of containers. I found this video trying to look up if I could reverse them, and it looked like it could work if you had no problems!

@@tarzan7169 in all fairness, it can be reversed. When I first installed mine I did like the video, then I read the book. So yeah, it could go either way.

Thanks for the review, it helped seeing the parts close up. I'll be installing on a teardrop trailer with fixed crossbars. Is there any room for adjustment fore/aft, assuming the gaps don't line up with my bars?
