Petrolatum is actually safe for your lips/body. (Vaseline, anyone?) It seals and forms a protective barrier so your skin doesn’t dehydrate, but it doesn’t actually provide any hydration.
Truth! It is an occlusive so is actually good for preventing transepidermal water loss. I also cringe hearing 'clean' ingredients. No such thing
It's still made from oil with all the adverse effects that has on the environment.

Anytime I get chapped lips or my nose is a little raw and irritated from a cold I’ll rub some Vaseline on and it feels so much better

this was me making “lip balm” out of eyeshadow and lipstick or lipgloss when i was 10
Petrolatum or petroleum jelly is Vaseline and it’s a harmless and effective occlusive - it also has a high melting point ! I use coconut oil (25g) beeswax (10g) and Shea (5g) to make a natural lip balm that truly sticks and conditions (feels like Burt’s!)
To put it on the record--I would love to see more of those reaction videos to 5-Minute Crafts, etc.! The other one you did was really interesting and informative, and also not gonna lie it was fun seeing you flip out, lol.

petroleum jelly is the only thing i can use on my lips. I have chronic chapped lips, and am allergic to most other ingredients :(
Luckily, the way she presents the information in this video is actually super misleading and incorrect, petroleum jelly is perfectly safe to use on your lips and is widely recommended by dermatologists, especially because of the low allergy risk! Keep doing what you're doing, you know your body best.
It's petroleum jelly, same thing as Vaseline. I ONLY use Vaseline on my lips, it works so well...

I only started the video but I gotta say I HATE the packaging. What's all that plastic for? Why is the box so big? The actual products take up like 1/3 of the packaging.
I understand that it's probably for marketing purposes or sales, as bigger packages are more likely to be sold/noticed, I guess. But I feel like I'd just go back and return it and find a kit elsewhere after opening that.
Amazon is so bad about this as well. They send me a huge box with miles of those plastic air bubble pack and the actual product is 4 times smaller than the box. It’s ridiculous
@@machanncheese bath and body works is bad about it too. They actually win the prize for my experience.... I bought a few things. They shipped in separate orders. One whole box, twice the size of shoebox, only had ONE SINGLE pocket sized hand sanitizer in it. (This was pre-Covid I should note) I was so angry!

With one order we could choose a little perfume sample for free, and then I mean like little tiny ones you get in stores, but they sent that in a for that very big box (like at least 5/6 huge hairbrushes would have fit in there as well) full of bubble wrap separate from the things that I actually ordered (and that little sample even arrived a day before).
YES DO TRADING KIT. I would of loved this as a kid but I think any of the kits you get no matter what it is you never get enough to make enough. It looked like so much fun.
Petroleum jelly is fine. The other ingredients might be bad idk but it’s literally Vaseline, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Your lotion is awesome. I have some sort of eczema or psoriasis on my face and it burns and stings when I have a flare up and your lotion calms the pain and hydrates the skin so well that the loose skin that's not ready to separate is very well hidden. Thank you and lots of love

I, too, suffer from itchy patches of terribleness on my face, often my lips and eyelids 🙄 I find that witch hazel helps a lot 👍🏻
@@lindsayf9225 I’m not the person you’re asking and I’ve never bought her lotion, but I have bought her soaps. I would assume it’s the same “recipe” for all, but different fragrances. Hope that helps you!
@@lindsayf9225 I just started using a product I found called Psoriasis Honey. It's kinda pricey for a balm, but it has worked really well. I have yet to try it around my eyes where my psoriasis loves to flare up (my eyebrows have dandruff 😝), but it has kicked ass on the other places I've applied it to. The company sells other products like a serum, but I held off buying that until I was sure I liked the honey. They did send me a free bath bomb though. Anything with beeswax seems to soothe and healmy flare-ups.
Now I'm interested in Katie's lotion too. Anything that can help!
Petroleum is actually a pretty good ingredient for the skin! It locks in moisture really well.

Petroleum burns skin, I think you meant petrolatum which is quite different - but even then ENTIRELY unnecessary, damaging to skin and the environment, and has no business being anywhere near humans let alone children
I have really dry skin and potentially eczema and can confirm petroleum is really helpful

I don't get why people lie about ingredients backed by thousands of peer reviewed articles and data in order to push people into using "natural" ingredients that are likely to cause reaction. Nothing wrong with humans using it.

Petroleum jelly is mostly used in the lip balms. It is child friendly. I also am using it since age of 2 I am 12 now and my lips are always good.

Yes, but beeswax and coconut oil are also SUPER good and not too expensive and more natural. I make beeswax and coconut lip balm for my kid. Yes, she's now 11, but I've been making that balm since she was 3. Our local natural foods store sells both REFILLABLE tubes and pots. I can also get LOCAL beeswax from them. Um.... Google beeswax lip balm for a good microwaveable recipe ;-)

Out of those 2 only Beeswax is good for your skin, Coconut Oil clogs spores and causes blackheads
I'd reccemend changing your formula and adding Petrolium instead since it's actually safe for skin.

Glasses can be both fashion and functionality! They're part of us and there's no reason to not make a fashion statement with them, since we're wearing them anyway! And while I get using contacts for filming, I found that large goggles will fit over my glasses no problem! I've been skiing, I've made soap, I've been to both 3D and IMAX movies - it's all doable!
Sounds like it might be a similar product to Vaseline? It’s also a petroleum byproduct. It’s pretty great for keeping skin hydrated as far as I know!

I literally use Vaseline exclusively for my lips. All the brands including EOS does not work. My lips are very sensitive and honestly Vaseline works the best....

The main ingredient there is petrolatum, that's the "scientific" name for vaseline.

Can you include a sustainability category when reviewing products like these? Yes, the packaging was good in not letting anything move but the amount of plastic packaging for that bit product...? :/
I think to add an actual sustainable category she would need to dig more into the ingredients and their sustainability which would take a lot of work. But yeah I'm surprised she didn't mention how big the plastic case, it almost made it look empty!

Most of the time the individual containers, the utensils, and the ingredients are wrapped in their own little plastic bags inside the box, so this was probably a pass by comparative evaluation.
@@anadacosta4043 she also normally did mention, if the glitter was biodegradable. i think for a lipbalm this info would be nice :) but yeah i guess she was just too curios to try the product. i guess we all feel like that sometimes hahah

petrolatum is the same ingredient they use in vaseline or other petroleum jelly products, it has a melting point between 38 and 54 degrees celsius (depending on the components, since its a mixture of hydrocarbons which have varying melting points depending on how long the molecule is), which is why is doesn't melt with only a little bit in the microwave, and definitely explains why it's not a part of the instructions

Please do all the kids craft kits I love this series. I don't know about bad ones but I see a lot at Craft Warehouse that are like bath bomb/soap/lip balm specific that I've always wondered about. They make them look a bit more "adult" so they look like they should be better than the kids ones and probably but probably actually aren't (or maybe they are?)
