I bought this kit a couple of times back then as a Youth, so here's some info if you're interested:
    - The fragrance oil back then wasn't totally clear. The bottle was nearly full and it was thinner and not dark orange lol, but I remember thinking the first time that it was annoying they wanted me to add a non clear thing to a clear thing.
    - what you ended up with is pretty close to what they looked like back then! A bit cloudy, but neat, and people certainly overreacted when I gave them as gifts.
    - My main annoyance back then was even though the top was covered with soap, that layer was so thin that once we used them at all the ball started peeking out and then it all sorta fell apart pretty quickly after that.
What a crazy throwback for me lol. I think I bought that kit 3 times back then

The 90's and early 2000's toy/gaming landscape was so fun, it's like they were just popping out the coolest stuff lol. Those years it was all about the gamecube, gameboy color, tamagotchi, nintendo 64, easy bake oven, and those hilarious infomercials for weird cooking gadgets you'd probably never use. Never used a soap kit but seeing that packaging gave me a huge wave of nostalgia, it literally looks as 90's/2000's as you can get haha (the font on the box really seals the deal). I'm also so surprised how well the melt n pour held up for so long, it's almost achieved MRE levels of long lasting xD

Katie, I did candy making in the late 1980's and had peppermint oil to use in chocolate. I used about 5 drops year at Christmas. It eventually turned dark like yours was. Also, I remember the shrink wraps being loose like that in the stores when new. Glad you had fun.

Honestly, I would love if you made your own version of this soap with toys that are actually full of water, glycerin soap that isn’t as yellow/cloudy, and a high quality fragrance oil.

As someone that's about your age this unlocked a weird core memory for me. My grandma's friend was obsessed with this little soap kits, and I think she had either this exact one or something very similar. The whole little snow-globe in the middle thing is very, VERY familiar.. though I think hers was kind of junk cause the liquid inside the snowglobe thing turned yellow for some reason?

Have you ever thought of getting into making your own soap kit's like this? I've seen slime makers start out selling and making all their products, and now they have slime kit's that are sold in Walmart's, and Targets, ect. I think that would be so amazing 😍

I made soap the other day didn't have a spray bottle to put rubbing alcohol in so I just sprayed it with perfume it was a cheap one so has high alcohol content worked fine. All I could think while making the kit was NerdE crafter would be so triggered by it , it had a mold a pipette a popsicle stick white melt and pour and a book with guides on how to make all these pretty colored soaps and layered soaps but only gives you stuff to make unscented white soap. I had a few bits and pieces from other soap kits I've done in the past so had some colorants and a fragrance or I would of been so salty too.
