There are lots of us out there returning to school and formatting has drastically changed. I think APA is the easiest to understand and use it whenever It's allowed. Happy studying!
I just learnt on of the most precious things of all. I had aproblem sticking to the topics and would write alot of unnecessary stories on one subtopic and waste all time there before writing about the next. SO jotting them on paper before actual writing is so helpful to maintain the focus!

Yeah thinking ahead and laying out all the headers before hand is a great idea. I don't know how many papers I have wrote blind, without thinking about the flow. Got a terrible grade and then my confidence went down. Doing what's asked is important, despite how you feel about your chosen topic and what you're trying to communicate. Have you ever tried not to use big words so that the teacher knows it's you and doesn't accuse you of plagarism?
A lot of times students do not outline because they feel like it will take them longer to write the paper. It actually makes it much easier and quicker! When it comes to the big words, that is my academic writing style. After reading/writing for two business degrees you pick up the lingo. I do think that using big words for the sake of using big words in not a good strategy. Teachers can generally pick up that!

Good stuff. I remember in my freshman comp class they did not teach us how to actually write a paper. They just gave us assignments and thought practicing writing would somehow work. It wasn't until I was a junior when a prof told the class to first write a one or two sentence thesis, then the body of the paper should support your argument. Sheesh, why couldn't they just tell us this in freshman comp? Kind of like practicing your golf swing 10,000 times but doing it incorrectly.

I'm a returning student who has no knowledge on writing papers, I tried to write a paper and it lacked organization and alot of other necessary qualities of a good paper. I loved how you said if you just stick to the setup it's hard for your professor to find fault in your papers. Can you point me to any videos you have that will help me with writing me papers mostly towards my formating like intro, body, conclusion then I notice you have indents and certain areas are bolded... Any resources would be helpful

Hey guys. My name is Daiman and i am a New Zealander studying a Bachelor of Training and Development through the University of New England in Australia.

lol! I used to feel the same way in college. I'm glad you found this helpful though! I find that every professor/tutor has their own way of doing things. However, in the end, they're all grading for the same thing - to ensure that you answered all the objectives in your writing prompt. So, when it comes to writing introductions, I found it best to demonstrate that my paper includes exactly what's in the writing prompt. It's a safe way to go!

Writing by ownself is easy, but writing introduction, for a bigger paper or PhD thesis, with lots of references make it very complicated and slow.
