Thank you! You’re the best video I’ve seen on both KDP and Ingram Spark
Thank you Paty. That is great feedback and very kind of you. Thank you.
Hello Romney,
Thank you for sharing your valuable thoughts on this topic. I've been looking for a updated video on this topic 🙂
Thanks Damian.
Great comparison. I think the wide distribution is the best pro for Ingram Spark.
Hi Michael. Thank you. Yes, I really love the wide distribution of IngramSpark and it provides an excellent form of diversification for my books rather than just on KDP.
👍
Can you use the same isbn number for for one format of your book (I.e. paperback ) across different platforms - for example Amazon and ingramspark ?
Yes you can.
Hi Romney! I think I am finally going to give Ingram Spark a whirl. I have a childrens picture book that I am planning to publish soon on it. Do you happen to have video tutorials that explain how to upload books to the site?
IngramSpark is certainly worth exploring. I’m 80% into creating some more content for Ingram so this will be ready by the end of the month. This will include the upload process etc.
@@globalselfpublishing awesome! Look forward to seeing the videos.
Hi, Thank you for your helpful video. I want to publish a Cookbook - it's written and ready to go but I don't know which platform to use. I feel I need it on Amazon but Ingram Sparks say they work with Amazon - do you know how this works with the link?
Best way is to purchase an ISBN and load book to both platforms
That's great. Thanks for the video. When calculating the cost of a book on IngramSpark, it shows printing costs, for example $5, but there is a note: Print costs and earnings shown do not include GST or any other taxes.
From your experience, how much does this figure change when taxes are included and how much would the printing cost actually be then?
To be honest, I haven’t taken much notice as countries like Australia that have GST are such a small proportion of my revenue it doesn’t make a difference.
Im trying to publish a right to left comic in English, should I fight to do both platforms or only Ingram Spark? KDP keeps saying they do not offer right to left books publishing on KDP, so is that option not available ebook digital for KDP, right to left? People say Ingram posts your book on Amazon, so what do you recommend since right to left option is available on Ingram for sure. I want to do both but is that possible for me? Whats the best option?
It all depends if your book is eligable for IngramSpark and meets their Content Integrity Guidelines to start with.
hi Romney , I have a book on KDP with their ISBN.. just wanted to understand that I should leave that there .. buy my own ISBN and upload that book on IngramSpark . . Is there anything else I need to do ??
Yes, leave that book on KDP (with their ISBN) as it may have reviews and some sales traffic. In the future, buy your own ISBN if you intend to place that book on both Ingram and KDP. You can use the same ISBN on both as long as its the exact same book. When uploading your book to KDP, just don't tick 'Expanded Distribution' if you also intend to have that book via IngramSpark.
@@globalselfpublishing perfect . thanks so much
@@globalselfpublishing What is the advantage to putting your book up on both KDP and Spark? Obviously Spark will distribute to Amazon--do you get better placement or higher royalties through Amazon sales if its through KDP?
Ingram Spark really does seem like a better proposition. How well does fiction books sell on Ingram Spark or are most your books non-fiction? Thanks Romney :)
Yes, Ingram is an excellent addition to getting your books out into the market! All my books are non-fiction but in saying that, I have friends and associates with fiction books that do very well on the platform!
Question, do you have to buy an ISBN per book or do you purchase one to go on all books printed?
One ISBN per book. Even if you publish a paperback and hardback version of the book, you would need to purchase 2 x ISBN’s
@@globalselfpublishing OK, so let’s say all I have is a hardcopy book. Then I need to purchase one ISBN for those books? And if I choose to do a paperback, then that would require a new ISBN.?
Yes, that is correct.
@@globalselfpublishing Thank you!
if you want to publish in both, and when you setup IngramSpark, would you exclude KDP from IngramSpark settings?
Not necessarily because you might just want to upload your book to the Ingram platform and they will place it on KDP for you rather than you having to upload to both platforms.
Is it bad that I don't tick expanded distribution on Amazon just so I can have it on Ingram? I want expanded distribution for Amazon and Ingram spark.
Only tick Expanded Distribution on Amazon if you don't plan to have your book on IngramSpark.
If you publish on IS do you need to publish with KDP for it to be available on Amazon ?
No as IS place it on Amaon for you. Only problem is you can't use Amazon Ads if it isn't loaded up to KDP.
What's the royalty percentage on Ingram? No mention there
Depends what 'Wholesale Discount' you offer. You can adjust it anywhere from 30% - 55% depending on your strategy to get into brick and mortar bookstores or to just aim for online sales.
Are activity books worth uploading on Ingram spark?
They would be as long as they meet the requirements of IngramSpark. You can check those out via the below link. You can currently get 3 x Free Uploads up until the 31st August and waive the $49 Upload fee but you would require your own unique ISBN. www.ingramspark.com/blog/ingramsparks-catalog-integrity-announcement
Can you do coloring books in ingram spark?
I'm not sure as I don't do coloring books but I have a feeling you are not permitted.
How do the 40,000 stores and libraries find your book on Ingram?
Via huge variety of ways including searches on your book topic (via your metadata), catalog info sent out via Ingram, your marking including links to your book, via Amazon as Ingram can also link your book to that platform plus many other ways.
KDP seems to be taking the printing cost out of my 60% royalty instead of off the top.
I'd suggest contacting KDP to discuss but rember that if you sell a book for say $8.99, your overall royalty after printing costs might only be between $1.50 - $1.90. This obviusly depends on the size, page count and printing paper you have chosen.
