  • Hello and welcome to episode 33 of Trash to Track.
In this episode we take a look at a bashed Britannia loco who’s valve gear was bent and mangled up, therefore making it unable to run. The tender also has a few problems!
    Thanks for looking.

Cheers Dan the loco is running good and if it hadn’t been for your repairs it would probably still be stored in its box.

No it didn’t come from eBay another auction site they had a tv show last year ,needless to say I won’t be using them again.Anyway lesson learned at least now it’s up and running.

Maybe not but I have had some horrendous experiences buying Locomotives from eBay. Listings with phrases such as 'Good Runner' I have become specifically cautious of. It is a great shame that some sellers outright lie about the products the have listed as it throws shade on other honest eBay-er of which are plenty.

Great video. Wish I had seen this before selling mine. I had the same model with basically same issues. It is a great looking models, but It never ran well. The side rods came off while running in and were mangled. One of the hex nut worked itself loose and fell out. I had a Hornby Lord Nelson do the same, but I managed to prevent any further damage and repaired it. I have learnt to sit and watch my locos when running in. It is tempting to walk away and leave them. I also always check hex nuts are tight (not over tight as you say) when I get a new model. Again thanks for the great videos, they are giving me more confidence to try it myself.

A great repair. did you find the missing set of steps from the front footplate or are they long gone. Well done.

First thought when you intro the loco - your man should have sent it back straight away as defective / not as described. EBay would have sided with him if came to it.
EDIT: I’m assuming you meant eBay by “auction” - if you meant a traditional auction then fair enough there’s not much you can do other than inspect carefully before bidding - not always possible I grant you.
