Thank you! I bought a siphon as I'm getting rid of my car but it still has half a tank of gas that I want as much of as possible. Now I know why I couldn't get to it! I'm going to buy a thinner piece of tubing & try to rig something like this up instead 👍👍👍
one thing to add - be sure to have it suck in some diesel when you are done - or the gas will dry out the pump and the next time you use it it will be junk... they need to put a HUGE sticker on the box for that - since most people would want to use this more than once
Great tip. I just bought gas, and found out it has water in it. Car died but I got to run stumbling along home. Going to see if I can buy one. Thanks for posting this tip.
@@killerjay6755 Ethanol blends in today's gasoline are hydroscopic. They draw moisture. After a period of time in unused vehicles (over 6 months) fuel can become moisture laden and phase. Fuel separation will occur. Once separated you will get water on the bottom, alcohol in the middle and low octane gas on top. Your vehicle will not run until you get the stale fuel out and replaced with fresh gas.
A ridged piece of garden hose pushed the checkball out of the antisiphon device in my 98 Silverado. That firm plastic pipe you slid in the tank first would probably have worked. I needed to empty the tank to replace the fuel pump. Not sure if anything changed on later models. Need to get stale fuel out of another vehicle and looking into options without dropping the tank. Don't really want a loose checkball floating free in the tank. Probably wouldn't hurt anything but... Might try letting the fuel pump pump it out through an open line and jumping the fuel pump relay.
That inner tube (smaller diameter) is it soft or rigid? And how long it is, if you could tell. Where I can find a similar device, which is operated manually? Normally you want to extract the fuel from the car which doesn't start or something. Thank you for the informative film.
On my RAV4 when the button inside the car that opens the fuel filler door is pressed it also opens the valve in the fuel filler tube so you can fill the tank with gasoline. Otherwise fuel wouldn't go into the tank but would back up in the filler tube and spray back at you. Doesn't your car do that too?
I have a 2007 Corvette C6 and need to. get some gas out of the tank, but I tried a regular siphon and it did not go into the tank because it was blocked. Since you said it would not work on a GM I doubt this would work. If anyone has experience, I would love to know.
Possibly too late to be of help, but I understand that Gentap has a listing of vehicles which have gas tanks that can be accessed by this pump on their website. Good luck.
I also want to know this as i was planning on using it on a 2007 suburban with an almost 30 gallon tank for back up gas for a generator; aside from the jugs of gas i already have
I purchased this thing i try to pull gas out of my 2007 lincoln navigator tank, nothing is coming out, so far its useless, any suggestion before i return it? Thanks
Some vehicles have really foolproof mechanisms to prevent fuel theft and leaking in the event of a rollover. I can't get it to work with a 2014 Silverado.
Great video. Just my .2 guys but if you have multiple vehicles keep one topped off and know how to drop the tank.. I have a vehicle with a 23gallon tank I almost never drive nor would I choose to in an emergency so that’s enough to get my girlfriends hybrid 1300 miles lol or run a generator for a bit
Yes, same thing happens at the gas station which is why your dad always asked you to stay in the car as a kid. Also why in New Jersey you aren't allowed to pump your own gas. New Jerseyans have the worst farts, which have been known to cause hazardous situations. The attendants they use actually are required to live in New York and travel to NJ every day since the food in NY is better it doesn't cause as much gas. They're also specially trained to hold in farts although this is partly genetic.
Hello! We are the seller, you can purchase our GasTapper Standard at www.gastapper.com or on Amazon Prime here: amzn.to/31GvkZU. It is $98, and we do not sell it for under $90 unfortunately.
So it's a crap shoot? I don't want to spend money on this if I don't know if it will work on my vehicle. I would like to be able to siphon gas for mowing.
This doesn't make any sense. 1st hose u put in , it hit an end. OK no siphon. 2nd wide hose you put in, also cannot go through. How did it align inside the pipe with the small hole, for it to be able to allow the thin hose though ? Magic just let's your 2nd wide hose align with the small hole ?
They'd be better to just put a drain valve under the gas tank. Maybe have a special tool to turn the valve. They just make things harder for the owner - not the crook
Just get the two tubes from a hardware store and siphon the old fashioned way. IIRC the check ball anti siphon device on my pickup had an opening around it the smaller tube may have slid through with some effort. Smaller tube will take longer to get the fuel out. I pushed my check ball out with a small diameter stiff piece of garden hose when I emptied the tank to change the fuel pump. No guarantee this device won't do the same. I popped the plastic check ball back in place when the fuel pump was removed before installing the new pump and putting the fuel tank back on the truck.
So ppl don’t care if it’s illegal your teaching criminals how to steal gas! I had gas stolen last night and I thought my car world prevent that but the forced my cap open and stole gas!
Great tip. I just bought gas, and found out it has water in it. Car died but I got to run stumbling along home. Going to see if I can buy one. Thanks for posting this tip.
That's actually a great video for an explanation. Thank you!
Great presentation, to the point, short. thank you
Best (by far) video explaining how the gas tapper actually works! Great job. Thanks.

Dude! Excellent vid. I will use mine to feed my generators in emergency!!!!
Good video. Clear and even fun.

There is water in my gas tank. I am going to try this. Great tip and great video. Thank you Greg
how did you manage to get water in your gas tank?

Please note that GasTapper is not made for use indoors, ever. Always use this product outdoors only with the siphon on the ground.
Thanks for the note about your other vehicle.
Good job Greg.....

It used to be easier in the 70’s and 80’s! I still well remember the taste of gasoline!
I still prefer it to glue...those guys are crazy!
Nice job! THANKS

I wonder if it would still work if you shut off the pump after the flow started, just like a regular siphon?

Man this is a great tool I now run my un personal gas station pump supplied by the locals
what size tube is the smaller one? and is rubber or a rigid plastic? looks like something you could use for refrigeration or a smaller fuel line
Nice!
So what do you think 2 years later? Has it held up?
How long would it take to pump out 10 gal?
Very informative video. About how many gallons per minute does the device pump please?
Not much. Maybe 1-2
is this vinyl hose

Wanna get all the fuel out before replacing fuel pump, can i just drop the line into the fuel pump hole and drain it that way?
The fuel pump is really slow but you could do that
Great video!
How long did it take to siphon 5 gallons?
Your answer is at 5:05
What the what? It's illegal to steal gas? Maybe in Canada, but in Merica, it's finders keepers!
I purchased this thing i try to pull gas out of my 2007 lincoln navigator tank, nothing is coming out, so far its useless, any suggestion before i return it? Thanks

All that just for syphoning ?
Hopefully that screen or valve membrane you forced the tube through stays in one piece and doesnt get sucked into the system and your injectors...

if you fart while siphoning will it cause an explosion?

It faster just to drill a hole in the gas tank and catch the gas that way
So it's a crap shoot? I don't want to spend money on this if I don't know if it will work on my vehicle. I would like to be able to siphon gas for mowing.
You can try it by mouth siphon and if you don't reach gas, don't buy this. I was surprised, too.
Why you didn’t put product link in description to buy?
Everyone can Google it. I'm not paid by or affiliated with the company.
@@gregpryorhomestead still a good video upload.. keep up the good work💯
Amazon has them.
Why not let gravity do the rest once you started?
Just a little faster. Not much. Lol
I used it to take old gas out of my Ranger boats gas tank.

Exactly. If the first hose wouldn't go in why would the second one. Your fired..
👍🏼
I thought he was still on parole for the catalytic converter video.
Thanks Captain OBVIOUS….. I was under the assumption taking gas from others was perfectly legal.
They'd be better to just put a drain valve under the gas tank. Maybe have a special tool to turn the valve. They just make things harder for the owner - not the crook
They being the manufacturer.
Great vid, great product, but for 100 bucks I d rather take a trip
to filler upper my jerry cans
Just looked it up
179 in Canada and for the bigger one 380 bucks plus tax
;-)
DIY for $30.
It works too slow for a gas thief.
Shame on you for letting thrives know how to steal my gas
Not so sure, check at the bad reviews related to this device

At ½ gallon per minute transfer rate? No thief is gonna hang around that long. That's why they just punch a hole on your tank.
Way over priced!

How did you end up getting it out. I'm the same situation...
@kimbuck2177 Ended up having to remove the seats and get to the gas tank to siphon. Going through the gas opening is nearly impossible.
@kimbuck2177 My gas tank is underneath my seats. So I had to remove them to get to an opening where I could successfully stick a hose down there.
