🙌 Very clear, thank you. I wrote my car off a day after filling up with diesel . It would have been painful to give it to the scrap man. I would not have attempted it on a petrol car though.

Typically a fuel system has two hoses running from the pump. One is the fuel feed and the other is the return line. The return line is a tube that is strictly no other purpose but to return fuel unused from the fuel injectors. Therefore, you can attach a hose to the top of the fuel pump at that point and literally pump the fuel out.

Another great video! But just to say the rear seats in Grande puntos folds up so the seats can fold flat so there was no need to unbolt them haha I know these cars and fiats inside out! Any questions just ask me the negative battery terminal looks like that because it's a quick release pull the lever and it untightens click the lever back on to tightens!

Did you replace the old o ring on pump?

About to do this in order to replace fuel pump and sending unit on my Volvo. How bad were the gas fumes once you cracked the lock ring open? I've changed a fuel filter before and wasn't ready for all the leaking and it got me dizzy. Trying to avoid similar 😂

It's because of the anti siphon screen, aka the anti roll over safety valve.

Appreciate your work -- however I've never seen it take 4 hands to remove a gas cap.

Lol I got the exact same pump today 😄 I am fully expecting my 98 corolla to have an anti-siphon filler neck.

Yeah in my Chrysler I have to go directly to the tank under the seat to get the gas.

I hear ya. Just changed fuel lines on my 2000 buick lesabre. Broke rusty return line. It drained 5 gallons from the tank in two hours. I still havnt figured out how it did. As fuel line mounts to top of tank.

Does the exit tip of fuel RETURN line going back into the gas tank reach to near the bottom of the gas tank. Thanks for the video.

I have a Kia which was unused due to a family bereavement for 4 Years. It had well over half a tank of petrol. I replaced the battery and turned the key...... It started after about 15 seconds of turning over and was running without any sign of problems within one minute.
I drove the car for an MOT and it passed without any problems, including the emissions test. I then drove the car over 200 miles on that petrol before refilling it, and two years later that same car still runs without any fuel problems and, it has passed two further MOT tests without any emission problems. Where does all this c### about fuel not lasting come from?

Petrol degrades over time and turns into varnish. It can clog up your entire fuel system.. Not worth using old fuel.

You are going it all wrong. It's so simple. You're going to feel silly.
Here's what you need to do, when you have the hose down the tank you need to have back pressure.
So a second hose will go in beside the first hose but this hose only needs to be 2 feet in length, BOTH hoses are in the gas filling hole but now the second hose will only be 1 foot down leaving the other foot sticking out. You now have to seal them up so there's no possibility of air escaping from around the two hoses. Now with your first hose which will be at least 6 feet long or longer is pushed to the bottom of the gas tank and the other end lower than the gas tank filling hole, that end needs to be in your receiver tank, jerry can or whatever you are using. No fancy pump is needed just the two hoses one 2 feet long and the other 6 feet or better.
Now all you to do now is blow into the shorter hose, a air compressor source of any kind will do as long as it keeps steady and 5psi minimum. Your creating back pressure in the tank the gas will take the shortest route out, that's going to be the 6 foot plus in length hose. Once the gas is flowing you can stop blowing into the shorter hose.
Oh, make sure both hoses are in the tank and a rag around them both clogging the gas filling hole shut .
Once this is done the gas will flow easily.
You can make a special gas cap for this sort of thing.
I am not telling you that this is legal and I am not telling you to do it.
Siphoning gas is illegal in most countries and will land you in jail if nicked.
But with raising gas prices you can expect that shit will happen.

Nope.. you won’t be able to siphon direct from a modern gas tank as they have anti siphon valves
