Sarah, I'll say this: Anyone who can make sense out of that bird's nest is a genius. More than that, anyone who can unravel that and make it all work is a super-genius.
Agree 💯 - like many a shade tree mechanic wiring is my kryptonite
Absolutely!
Its time consuming but not that difficult if you start at the end of the circuit and work back to the switch or power source. Once the wire is installed, check the circuit for proper operation. Multiple wires from the end of the circuit to several power sources makes it somewhat more difficult but certainly doable.
Ive rewired vehicles that had the entire wiring harness removed from them with nothing more than a factory shop wiring diagram.
it's very similar to plumbing with valves
No.... we are called Mechanics/Technicians.
Edit: As much as I would love the title of super genius, or even genius... yeah, we just prefer being called what we are.
I just thought of all the employees of Toyota in Japan sitting in the lunch room, munching on Raman Noodle's watching your rebuilds of Toyota, and bowing out of respect to your labor of love. Hai!
I haven't worked as a mechanic in years, but, I still have PTSD over doing wiring like that.
im a turbine mechanic (power plants not planes) and im SO GLAD that wiring is not something i ever touch
Same! I gave up in the early 90s. pre obd2 days!
@@bradleyyounger8499 Ironically, the wiring in cars since CAN (especially luxury cars) has actually become much simpler, the 1990s cars had enough spaghetti to make the Mario Bros cringe.
Wait till you see wiring on later cars, this is simple compared to that.
Your attention to detail is AWESOME!! And your patience to do wiring is outstanding!!
Sarah you labeled that harness so well anybody can walk in there and wire it up easy. ✌️❤️ Respect. I have no patience for wiring.
When you started taking the gauge cluster out, I had flashbacks to my old Celicas and some of the wiring I had to do. Fairly straightforward for sure, but definitely not a lot of excess space in there! Keep doing what and how you do, it's what brings most of us to watch these faithfully every week!
As a fellow tall person, I felt every moment of that under-dash work. People don't realize that some of us just don't fold well.
Amen Brother!!!
The getting back out of there is 😢.
And your back is only supposed bend in one direction !
Right! Sometimes I think chiropractors were invented because of mechanics and technicians!
Im not that tall, but rather "wide", so i broken my ribs more than once over the threshold trying to reach just that little further, it doesnt hurt that bad, but the sound it make when it pop is rather disgusting
Once the Celica is done, I'd love to see you film a road trip of you enjoying the fruits of your labor. You're really knocking it out of the park with this build!!!
Yes! Static X! Was devastated when Wayne passed away.
Don’t envy all this wiring 😂 I’ve done my share of wiring, re pinning cannon plugs and replacing harnesses. Not my favorite part of my job. You make it sound easy and not so terrible. Nice work. Definitely the kind of content that makes your channel shine.
Looking wonderful. So glad you got the replacement looms. The potential problems with reusing old wiring makes my head spin. Gritting my teeth about old connectors/plugs, but I'm gonna trust you!
Thanks for all your time. Keep up the great work and stay safe!
The problem with using old wiring is degraded insulation as well as increased resistance. Best to use new wire and get new connectors or thoroughly clean old ones
@@donreinke5863 The 2005 Harness was in FAR worse shape than the 1974. Honestly the 1974 is a 10/10 condition wise, the wire jackets are still pliable and the copper is fresh and corrosion free, I was astonished how well it held up 50 years.
@@SarahnTuned I hope this teaches you that older is in many cases better. Materials were higher quality in many cases, so was craftsmanship and the work ethic necessary to build a higher quality product was in many cases still present.
Of course, there were things like the Vega.......
Still.....the dedication to do ANY job right no matter what is very admirable and sorely lacking among most today.
You are to be commended for that...from someone who has been in automotive repair for 52 years.
I want to commend you. My dad was a teacher in electronics. I have seen him doing this so often. You went all out on it. And made it decent. Well done.
Aloha Miss Sarah! You’re an animal for your attitude towards wiring. Could not be more impressed. PS your T-shirt is cool
🤙🏻
Amazing content. I want to say that I great desire these videos as they make my day - I appreciate the non-fake deadlines. Those car repair shows that have "We have 3 days to do this...dadadum.." are so annoying. Take your time, live your life. I know there are so many viewers that care about you in a platonic way. We worry you aren't resting, eating, dating, enjoying your beauty and youth. Remember in 20 years this will mean very little to you - enjoy your life.
Always great to watch you at work and listen to your explanations of what you’re doing 🙂 much respect ✊
Ms.Sarah, your ability to untangle the harness and actually understand what needs to remain is remarkable.
Your content is amazing on so many levels. Thanks.
100% agree with you on the original gauges!!! Love this series. got to drive a 74 celica ST in 1981 and remember it well.
Your level of knowledge of car stuff just blows my mind! I don't think my mechanic knows half of what you know! Great job, Sarah!
I'm one of the few people that wanted to grab some popcorn and settle in for some awesome wiring content. I was always that technician that would love to get those weird electrical jobs that were so satisfying when I figured it out.
I followed your previous wiring game and I am impressed by your abilities. For all it is worth you have my admiration.
I’m amazed by you knowledge and skills. I could watch you work for hours.
This Lady is so intelligent..I bow to her superiority...WOW !!!!
I had a panic and anxiety attack just watching this 😭☺️ but it's comforting and satisfying that there's someone out there like you who can do it. 🔥
Sarah,
Let the OCD kick in. Take your time. Do the best job you know how to do. You know better than anyone else that rushing will lead to mistakes which lead to rework which takes more time and effort than doing the job right the first time. We, your loyal audience, have the patience to watch you do the job correctly. We also know that you WILL take the time to do things right and that is why we love your channel 🐧❤️🐧❤️🐧.
Keep the aspidistra flying!
Love,
Paul
You are amazing! You can do what you do because of your OCD! You are a wiring wizard! Thanks for sharing your gifts!
All I've got to say is that this former Crew Chief is more than glad to leave all that wiring nonsense to others. So enjoy it Sarah!
You’re absolutely Brilliant Sarah !!
After market alarm systems were the bane of the 70s-90s. I had at least 3 used cars with totally messed up electrical because of those. Not to mention they filled every neighborhood with cacophony of false alarms. Thank goodness most new cars come with factory standard anti-theft.
In one of my Capris they had installed a afttermarket alarm and the immobiliser was acting up a lot, so that was the first thing I ripped out when I got it. Have hidden switch for the ground on ignition works way better than some of the old alarms.
❤
My very first car was a 72 Toyota Corolla. Pale yellow color, 4 sp, rwd, AM radio, no ac…loved that car.
ワイヤーハーネスが一本一本髪の毛のようで見てるだけでコチラが目まいがしそうです!!!!
ワイヤーハーネスのヘアカット時間
I just love how Sarah does the wiring part! I mean, the inception, the planning, the execution... everything is done to perfection. The white board alone is a piece of art. Phenomenal job! 👍
Sarah, great editing.... "It's not as big as I .....ah, errr....(silence as never before heard by Sarah...)
I hate hate hate wiring! But you make it so entertaining to watch. I can't get enough, so keep it coming.
Sarah is not just 'a wench with a wrench.' Understanding all this stuff and being able to organize it takes mental acuity and patience.
Damn you are definitely one of the smartest car people on You Tube. Your prep work and understanding is amazing!!! Not to mention your off the cuff humor is amazing!
Love this build soooo much!
Great work Miss Sarah - I don't mind following you down the OCD rabbit hole, especially without a deadline loom over your head. It's hard work and you make it easier for us non-mechanics to follow you. Make sure you eat and get some rest.
Hi Sparky. That ECU mount location is perfect! Great Job girl.
We may get 4 to 8 inches snow in NH on Wednesday.
A little something because not everyone appreciates all the work you put into your builds. Wiring may not be flashy but your car won’t run without it.
I just want to say Sarah, you are doing an amazing job and your content is by far the one I look forward to seeing each week. Get so excited to see how this car is going and how you meticulously approach everything. So inspiring and entertaining.
I love when your OCD kicks in this what makes watching you fun besides your humor intelligences and beauty.
At least if I can't sleep I get Celica content!
🏁
the jimmy oaks cross over is wild hahah love it
"It's actually not as big as I thought it would be. That's what sh.... aaah... LMAO!!!!!!
初めて拝見させていただきました。私が一番好きな車「ダルマ」「1600GT」をこのような方法でレストアしていることに感激いたしました。本当に素晴らしい才能です。これからもご活躍をお祈りいたします。ちなみに私は1964年生まれです。
I HATE those restomod digital dashes! The gauge cluster is what you see when you drive the car! Duh… Great job once again, Sarah!
the attention to detail is unmatched, I can only imagine what this car would sell for once done if you ever decided to sell it. Well done
Love the fact that you had no less than 5 music references in this episode!! Love your humor
Love the cars, the editing and the sense of humor.
One of my favorite channels recently.
Omg Sarah I want this car SO BAD . I'm crying on the inside.
Sarah ,you are awesome, And your attention to detail is Unmatched !!
Amelia who !!
Your level of attention to detail and documentation is so admirable.
Having done similar work on the harness of a 1970 F100 (complete removal and modifying) I wanted you to know at least one of your audience appreciates the work you went through. And...the fact that the harness schematic will float in your brain and dreams for weeks. Luv ya, keep at it, your my favorite CZcamsr
Excellent video. Its wonderful watching someone skilled at work. Some useful ideas for the Dodge truck regulator delete and rewiring resto project I will get back into now its starting to cool down a bit. Thanks for your work, its really appreciated.
This project is coming along great!
Wiring was never my forte, kudos to you!
Love your attention to detail.
Gotta respect someone who can do that stuff. Knowledgeable and brave enough to tackle it. Total respect.
Having the harness spread out nice and neat like a tree was extremely satisfying. Sarah makes working on harnesses look doable.
Oh YES!
The wiring has begun!
Looking forward to seeing you do the job with your usual fervor and OCD.
It's such a joy to see you work on wiring, for all I care you throw the entire unedited process online.
Always love your vids Sarah. If ANYONE has ever dove into the world of wiring it can be VERY intimidating but so rewarding once it is all sorted! Supra is coming along great!
Daaang, Sarah. That was one information dense video. If only there were 48 hours in a day we could have longer videos, which I for one would love. There are no amount of props in the world for just how exacting and dedicated to quality workmanship you are. We're talking Pebble Beach quality here.
I CAN APPRECIATE YOUR INTENSITY ON THIS I ACTUALLY LISTENED WITH NO MULTITASKING
Thank you for sharing this Sarah. I have learned so much watching your channel. Your attention to detail is second to none!
Sarah have a fantastic Monday, i hate wiring it is pain staking and takes forever.
Looking great, you know a pair of sawhorses and a sheet of plywood across, will keep you up off the ground and off your knees, I painted for a lot of years, and my knees hurt now. Keep up the amazing work 😁
Coming from someone with Asperger's this episode is extremely satisfying. I avoided watching it because I worried about how I was going to react but Sarah, you're approach was absolutely pro. You just levelled up.
Crazy skills this women has!!
The dialog makes this channel gold. Thanks for the vid.
Way more technically difficult to integrate the old gauges, because you really have to know what you had and what you have. Props to going through this effort. It makes your builds so unique.
Kudos to your patience with the wiring!
If I ever tried something like this I would probably either mess something up and set the car on fire or get really annoyed halfway through and then abandon it.
I just know Toyota Japan is intently watching these videos. You are probably inspiring them to bring back a retro look new tech version of your Celica. The "Celica N Tuner".
Toyota should bring a Handbuild ''Legacy Series'' on the market!
take your time, it'll get done. Don't stress about a self imposed deadline, we'll still watch. Shifting the rad forward is the move, gives you room for an aluminum fan shroud which will help a great deal with keeping the UZ cool in the AZ summers.
I agree about the gauges. I've used period correct gauges on all my (7) resto and resto-mods. Take your time do it right, we'll all still be here!
I am very impressed with the way you attack the wiring, knock spots off my electrical work. Well done. But then again your approach to all parts of the vehicle is excellent.
The more of your videos I watch, the more knowledgeable I realize you are but this video just kicked you up a dozen notches. Genius level stuff here. Great work.
4:00 "....so simple, it'll be EASY when i put this back together"
Saving this for posterity....
I have to admire your lack of wirephobia. Your harness always comes out so clean.
Trying to untangle an OEM wiring harness is like playing 'Where's Waldo' . It's the ultimate test of patience and precision in the auto-verse!
don't rush, I enjoy every second of it.
Sara's electrical prowess is top notch
Hey Sara I will be so glad to hear that thing rip
So im sitting around having an anxiety attack about mounting ditch lights on my Outback. Then i see you rewiring an entire car. I dont know whether to feel inspired or inadequate. Brilliant work, Sarah.
I was so excited when you announced this build. Every video that comes out I get MORE excited. I cannot wait to see this build in person. If you ever decided to display it I will ABSOLUTELY make that trip.
Yes! Sarah Celica content first thing in the morning!
This is the one I was really waiting for. There are at least 6 steps in this video that I would've just gotten completely overwhelmed and hired someone to take it from there. This is astonishing.
Thanks as always for the amazing content!❤
Trying to work up the courage to completely rewire my 77 Celica GT race car. Needs to happen sooner than later. Seeing Sarah tackle this is encouraging
I found a few factory wiring diagrams for the 77 Celica online
Wiring can be super tedious. But when you get it right, the results are really satisfying. Plus you won't have to deal with wiring faults in the future. 😎
I am speechless, your patience and problem solving skills, even my cat its impressed !
Getting the hard hardware installed and looking neat is child's play on an old car rebuild. Getting the soft stuff like wiring and hoses to look factory and neat is a nightmare and let's down most old car builds. Love your attention to the teensiest details girl. The end result will be a wonder to behold.
The only auto shop teacher that I pay attention to 😂.
Thank you about the comment about the gauges! The first thing I think about when I see a car described as a 'resto mod' (although I don't see that term as much now as it seems they use the simpler term 'customized') is that they RUINED the dash by putting in some fugly lookin' gauges! I too love the 'original' look but, then again, I am old...
I am amazed at Sarah's ability to have the patience for such a task! hahah
I continue to be impressed by Sarah's attention to detail.
I love your attention to detail and I totally agree with you that original dials are the way to go.
This video explains why I have so much damn respect for Sarah.
Music Brain: I'm pretty jealous of your ability to remember 90s music so well. Somewhere along the line, my brain pushed it all out. I used to know it all, and I still listen to it, along with other stuff.
Old Tech here love your videos like this they are great training also
You definitely have a skill when it comes to the wiring part. Your experience shines!!!!!!!!!
You have my utmost respect. I haven't had the patience for wiring since the days of 3 wire systems on 1960s motorcycles.
I think the bulk of comments say it all. Wow Sarah. Wow. It's hard to imagine someone putting in the attention to detail that the factory toyota folks had in the 1970's. I would say they'd take you on their team in a heart beat! Bravo
Ahhh, wiring. Seems so peaceful and serene.
Sarah, you are so thorough, nobody does as clean as you ❤
So much loving this build. You rock Sarah!
