I've lived on Maui for 30 years. In the late 90's, I stopped at Ma'alaea and called 9 1 1 because a brush fire had started under the powerlines which go to Lahaina. They didn't show up and the whole valley side of the Pali (cliffs) went up in flames. I couldn't get home the way I went in. So, I'm very much aware of how the power lines do not anchor safely into the poles. The Olinda fire started by a tree knocking lines down. Security video at the crow sanctuary showed the sparks when the lines went down. That forest fire has filled my house with smoke 3x, tho' it is now contained. Not extinguished. I am grateful for what it is rather than what others have had to experience. May peace prevail.
Maui rebuilding should insist on underground electric lines.

Hi Mel and Linda G. I hope you're both doing well. My son lives in Van nays, Los Angeles California. His boss had him to go up into the mountains to get some patience, for rehab. While he was coming down the road. All of a sudden water appeared. It was gushing toward his car. So he turned the car around immediately and headed back the other direction. As he was driving down the road, a big baller fell from the mountain, in front of his car. But he was able to escape, and get back home. He was 4 hours from where lived in California. He was in the mountains at the time this all took place. I'm just thankful that my son and the people in the car with him, made it back safely.
I must be a empath, because all weekend long I could feel people's emotions. That were in these weather disasters. And all I could do was cry cry cry. So I had to end up, putting some crystals in my pocket that would calm me down. It's been a rough weekend. And I don't see the week ahead being any better.

Ooh, Mel, at 36;20, you mentioned the taxes that T has not paid on all those donations that he is using for legal fees. Even the money from his PACs shoudl be taxed if he is using them to pay his and others' legal fees. I say he is in big tax trouble. No one else is talking about that part and i've been saying it for a couple months. Glad to know you picked up on that too, because that's a very straight forward case.

Tornados in Ohio growing up 18 yrs, then living in Simi Valley, California for 35 yrs. We went through the Northridge Earthquake and a few other's. Now in Lake Havasu, Arizona, with the hot summers. There was a 6.0 near Lake Tahoe, California also Sunday August 20th.

Hi Mel and Linda! I’m so glad you’re doing better, Mel. Yesterday I was literally exhausted all day long. I figured it had something to do with the energies in the universe.
Every joint in my body is throbbing today. But we've had a pretty significant change in our weather (temp and humidity wise) here in the Midwest. And it feels like the barometer is just really screwing with all my arthritic joints.
Just need to get thru this week. Then things improve. Somewhat.

According to Constitutional experts states can block a name from state ballots, and 14th amendment does not say a conviction is required. Congress can also in a 2/3 vote prevent him from holding offfice ever again.
The 14th amendment mentions aiding insurrectionists as a reason to be disqualified. Judge Lutig and Laurence Tribe just wrote an oped about it.
Thank God it was only a tropical storm.

You answered my question!! Yea! Thank you both. Mel, I am so glad you feel better. Last spring I felt like I had Covid so went to the ER and they tested me and I did not have Covid. I was given an IV with electrolytes and it totally revived me. No pain and had such energy and my brain felt good! It was shocking. I saw it happen to my 95 year old mom and my toy poodle who got regular IVs .
Interesting, last time I tried to give my dog an IV I stabbed my thumb instead. It hurt and I realized it wasn’t my forte.
My son and family in Glendale said the storm was no big deal. I’ve seen storm much worse when I lived there a few years ago.
Krosmom- it’s better to be prepared than sorry.. what people don’t understand about California is infrastructure, including roads houses buildings cannot withstand more than 1 1/2 inches of rain without flooding. We were never built for any of that business and people who do not live in California. Don’t understand the difference a couple of inches of rain makes for us versus them..
It’s a big deal in Palm Springs. They still have power out. The roads are flooded. I can’t get a hold of my friend there
So for your son it was no big deal.. did he tell you we had an earthquake in where I live we had tornado warnings all in the same day..ugh Ugh

I've been in two earth quakes. One was the 7.4 in Southern California in the 1970's.
I would take a earthquake over a tornado any day. Tornados are way scarier to me. They are way different to me in the fear factor. Maybe it's from watching Wizard of Oz as a kid. Who knows ? Lol

No Tribe & some GOP conservative constitutionalists said he doesn't have to be convicted of Sedition to remove him on the 14th Amendment.
Professor Tribe and Judge Luttig have written an article in The Atlantic. They have investigated the Constitution about the fact if it is possible that Trump can be stopped as candidate for the GOP. Tribe and Luttig say that there is enough evidence in the constitution, to prevent him from running. And yes, they mention the possibility, that de States remove him from the ballot.

Yes Mel, I live in Ky and it has been so humid for the past few years it is just as bad as Florida but without the breeze
The humidity here in Connecticut is horrific, you can sit still in the shade reading a book and be soaked. I grew up in New York City and the humidity in the summer there is the worst, because you’re at sea level and there’s no wind (in the winter the winds are savage), and the smog and humidity combine so you can basically see the air.
