  • Demolition finally concludes - I am exhausted but very pleased with how things turned out. I can now see everything that needs to be done - hopefully not more hidden surprises. I also dig into the inverter and electrical system and start figuring out how the wiring works.

    Tremendous progress !! Please right that clock.

      Thank you! I keep meaning to fix that clock. For some reason I think terrible things will fall out of that wall if I touch it. I will try to get that sorted. I've been a bit gun shy after all the other surprises.

    Ok...i think the hidden door is either to Narnia or to escape..either way sounds good to me...lol 😂. Yes..agree. Custom kitchen cabinets and any other misc multipurpose cabinets that may pop up in the design process. I think a disco light might work well! 🕺🕺

      Heheh! I was at least hoping for a funny message from the builders. I am doing a lot of thinking on the kitchen - nothing yet. I figured I can always finish the bed/sofa/dining in the rear - have a good plan for that. I will be working on some lighting hopefully tomorrow.

    That looks like a fun build.

      Now that demolition is done I am having a great time! Thanks for your comment and for watching.

    Coming along nicely! That "pump" I believe is a vacuum pump. And there should be a hookup near the O2 outlet on your kitchen wall. lol The vacuum is/was for sucking the ..... um.... stuff out of airways when they performed "airway" work on a patient. The "stuff" went into a canister located in your kitchen, so it never got down to the pump. Then they would dispose the canister or bag liner when they got back to base. Also good for cleaning up pea soup. haha my bad. .... Look up names and model numbers of anything your curious about. Bath next to your kitchen? Mmmm. It's probably had worse, though. Maybe over next to the door for easy access? Just an idea. It's your house. I be watching. Cheers!!!

      Hehe! I have not moved the pump yet. I was trying to think of uses. I think I know where it comes out but they took the fitting and canister. Might be easy to find. Maybe just for kicks. I like the little control thing for the O2 - going to keep that and the O2 level light - it has little LEDs that go back and forth. Currently I think I am going with just an outside entrance to the shower. There is so much added space for kitchen cabnates if I go that route. I hate hallway space - such a waste. One big reason for picking the ambulance is the squareness of the floor dimensions to eliminate hallways - hopefully.

      Get a small O2 bottle an hook up. Handy for hangovers. lol Seems like I have a canister somewhere. But geez, I wouldn't know where to start looking. And probably an O2 mask. lol Oxygen tubing is the same size as aquarium tubing. A tip for y'all. So don't buy tubing for the fish if Granny has an old setup. lol.. :-)

      I found the owner's manual for that inverter/charger. Wiring diagram too. www.vanner.com/manuals/postproduction/20-1050CUL-OMA96283-Rev-A.pdf

      ...can charge at 15 or 55 amps - that will be helpful. I think the generator can handle the 55 amps if I need to charge the batteries fast. Also has an inverter low power mode that stays on until >5 watts is drawn. Only 1,000 watts cont but a 55 amp battery charger is very expensive.

    Currently at the same stage with my ambulance as this video. Curious what you did with the acc unit that you showed in the beginning of the video. Mine looks like its wired to the front a/c and im scared to do anything with it. Does it power the front a/c as well? I was planning on using a fan instead of the ac in the back, do you have to keep the acc unit plugged in as it is while building out the van? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

    • @timdillen
      @timdillen  Před 3 lety

      I didn’t mess with it as mine is connected to the cab unit. The back AC switch on mine is just a high/low/off blower switch. The Freon constantly circulated through the rear coils but uses the fan to get the cold out. I have not found a use for it as you have to run the engine. Maybe if you are waiting in a hot parking lot.
      If I did it again I would consider a small mini split system with an outside unit on a slide out from a bay or possibly screw to rear door. The price has really come done on them.

    A door from the cabin to the camper would be a nice vlog project. If anybody can do it you can.

      Thanks for you vote of confidence! I would love to have that - my skill level and comfort level is building but I am not to the point where I feel I would be able to pull that off. I am weighing the options for that space for kitchen cabnates/fridge/microwave/sink. Just haven't come up with a good design yet.

      That was the first thing I thought of too, but the cab and the back box might be designed to move separately from each other like the bed of a pick-up.

    • @timdillen
      @timdillen  Před 6 lety

      You are correct. The suspension for the front cab is just shocks whereas the back is airbag. They move very separately. There is a large accordion type rubber surround around the opening between the two that allows them to move separately. It would not be too difficult to make something similar on a larger scale. Cutting the openings is no problem. Making sure it is watertight and has enough flex is a bit harder.

    if you decide to forgo the vannier..... give me a holler.... when I got my ambo mine was removed probably as a back up for their new one (an airport's ambo) so am in a market for one.

      @timdillen  Před 6 lety

      Thank for your interest in the Vanner. I found my problem why the breaker was being thrown. I accidentally cut the ground wire in the wall. The last time I used the inverter it made a fairly loud humming noise. I don't know if that is normal or the inverter has something wrong with it. I need to hook it back up and see. I hope to re-use it. If it is bad it would be good to know if it can be repaired and at what cost. I have not tried the battery charging function yet. I'll make a video on the whole thing .

    Hi there 👋 Bob Wells just a released a video on an ambulance conversion. I think you should take a look at it. In particular..could you mount the ac like they did in that build so that you can open up design possibilities esp for the kitchen? Let me know what you think.

    • @timdillen
      @timdillen  Před 6 lety

      Great video! Just watched it. Loved the shower, water tank and water heater. I wish I could move the AC. I can move the blower somewhat but the Freon and coolant lines come up under the floor and would be difficult to re-route but not impossible. I did not know there was a water tank that could fit in a bin shelf. Very helpful. Thanks!

      PriusStealthCamper Adventures Good! Im not quite sure how your layouts compare but I figured there would probably be similarities. My hvac guy here could do anything i could design as long as it didnt break code. Could a professional do that relocation? Unfortunately he left that company and I have no idea where he went. He and I solved a heat pump problem for ineffective units brought up from S.C. for condo use here that builder couldnt or wouldnt solve. On top of deficient units builder had installed improperly w/o proper clearances...duh...honestly...what a girls gotta do!

    • @timdillen
      @timdillen  Před 6 lety

      Yes - a heat and air person could most likely do it. I know a residential a/c guy but I don't know if he would work on a vehicle. I have a good mechanic - he might figure it out as well. Some professionals just don't want to step out of their comfort zone.

    Regarding LED bulbs, maybe check out G Bear CZcams channel, second to bottom video on his video's list is "LED's are NOT created equal" or something like that. He runs a 120v AC GE bulb on as low as 7v DC. When at 31v DC, was pulling .062amps. I think 31v is where bulb was at max bright, just dimmed until out at 6v. Pretty good stuff that I believe you may find interesting. He messes with some of N Tesla's theories n such. I would link video but I don't know how. Your videos are pretty awesome by the way, thanks for those.

    • @timdillen
      @timdillen  Před 6 lety

      Sounds like a smart guy! Thanks for the tip. It has some halogen bulbs and I think I saw somewhere that they were pulling either 20 or 30 watts each. My LEDs came today and am interesting in trying them out.
