    As a manicurist myself I would say, please schedule your removal/repainting in time. Girl, you are not looking cute or elegant after 3 weeks growth, even if your nail polish is intact. Nails grow. If you don't have time or money to expend in nails, make sure at least you take care of your nails at home. Some cuticule triming, hand cream, oils, can do wonders. Also, keep your nails healthy by having good eating habits, dont chip off your nail polish yourself, its going to damage your nails.

      Agreed. And this is why I actually almost never paint my nails. I know that I'm not capable of keeping them maintianed properly, and things such as chipped polish just really look so bad.
      Since I know I can't maintain them, I just hardly even do them. A bare nail is better than chipped polish.
      What I do to keep them looking nice is simply to keep them cut fairly short, and filed neatly and nicely in shape. Then I just use a good hand cream, and sometimes some nail oil, so that they stay healthy looking, without any ragged cutitles, etc.
      This is super-duper easy to maintain, and I think a bare nail looks pretty and elegant when it's properly taken care of.

    I find "baby boomers" to be a nice alternative to the French manicure. They are similar to the French but it's more of an ombre instead of a line. In my opinion, it looks more natural and if you miss a nail appointment, it's okay because there is no obvious line of demarcation showing.

    I would also add that just a clear or translucent cream gloss over well-manicured nails looks nice and natural, and gives the effect of French manicure in a fraction of the time. if it chips a little, no one will notice, and it doesn't damage the nail bed like shellac or gel nails.

      Shellac or gel doesn’t damage nail beds if you know how to remove them probably. Don’t soak you nail in acetone. Lift up a corner and put a few drops of acetone in between nail and polish or soak a wooden cuticle stick scrap/peel of the polish. Fast, safe and easy. I use gel polish every week and my nails do not have stress mark. Some people even use floss instead of cuticle stick.

      True. Or you can just leave your nails bare, and take care of them. I keep them bare most of the time, like 99 percent of the time. I keep the nicely cut and filed into a neat, short oval. Then I just make sure to keep my hands well moisteriuzed, and somtimes also use a nail oil or cuticle oil, so my nails have that little bit of sheen, and so that I don't have ragged/peeling cuticles (which happens easily where I live, in winter, cause our long cold winters here on the Canadian prairies really dry out your hands/nails).
      I mean, I do very much like a clear polish, like you mentioned. It's just that I often feel like a good nail/cuticle oil gives them that bit of shine, without me having to bother with any polish at all.
      I do love things such as a classic red nail, it's just I know I don't have the time to keep them up, and a bare (but well-cared for) nail is better than chipped red polish.

    Girls on a budget, try the Essie gel couture (not gel, it’s a regular nail polish). It lasts very well (use the gel couture nail polish color of choice AND absolutely use the gel couture top coat, don’t forget to seal the tip). I do my nails every 7-10 days, not because it chips but because you can see the nail plate that has grown (which does not look elegant). I use my nails a lot and it (almost) never chips. And it’s pretty affordable!

I can do anything - washing dishes, doing gardening, playing with animals, even moving- and my nails stay on without chipping maintaining their shiny color. It’s amazing.

      And you still have your own brain inside your head you're saying you can't make up your own opinion on things just because she has an opinion so does everyone else if you have to look anyone else for you to make an opinion on things there's something clearly wrong with you

      @@rochellejohnson5534 i 100% agree. Ana is typically on point with many things but I'm not giving up on nail art. I can still be elegant and express myself through my nail art as long as my nails are clean and are of a functionally appropriate length. I feel like some of her tips don't offer room for individuality and creativity. I don't want to look like everyone else but elegance is something I wholeheartedly do believe in.

    Unnatural colors can look sophisticated if they are in a deep shade (for example navy blue) and they match the outfit. The colors mentioned by Anna are the safe choices that go with pretty much any outfit.

    • @nikhefe16
      @nikhefe16 Před 3 lety +2

      Totally agree! You can work with blues and other unnatural colors if the colors are deep and subtle, probably on a shorter nail too. But for the most part I agree with Ana! I am trying out some nudes on my darker skin like darker browns and I wonder if a french manicure look on a darker nail canvas would give me a polished look.
