The XR, DR, and KLR are like childhood friends, they all grew up together, romping through the woods, and then around late 20's early 30's they all went their separate ways.
Haa. So true!!
DR650 is a smart choice, man. I've been meaning to get one to make content on forever. I still think it's the best all around "one bike" solution. Excited to see how you like it.
100%! Honestly, I think it's that legendary balance of off/on road perfection that's kept me away for so long. The KLRs are controversial, the Tenere was new. I don't think I've ever been so excited about a bike and a build though. Gotta admit, I was trying to follow your footsteps with this decision too. Thanks for everything you do Ben!
I totally agree, love my DR! I’ve had and have many bikes and the DR is one of my favorites.
Same opinion here!
Bought my DR650 brand new in 2017. I have almost 20k miles on it now with no issues whatsoever. Extremely reliable and easy to work on. I've toyed with the idea of selling it after getting my V-strom 650 last summer but I don't think I'll ever be able to sell my DR, first any only brand new vehicle I've bought!
That's awesome! I've always had excellent luck with the Suzuki stuff I've owned. All of it has been second hand too! Haha yeah, I'm a little worried I'm going to have a hard time when I need to part ways...
Yes!!!!!! You’re the right person/channel for this bike! I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Thanks man!!! Glad to hear you think so!!!
I couldn't figure out what would be the KLR's "biggest competitor" as it's really in a class by itself. This is going to be epic though! DR vs XR head to head! Great job Ben.
Thanks man!!! I'm pretty stoked about it!
I figured it was going to be a tenere 700, but I’m also interested in the DR650 to XR650 comparison
The Dork will absolutely see the power and legend of the mighty DR 650. Anyone who loves dualsport knows. The DR is the king.
Haha yeah it's definitely got me pretty excited!
I ride 4 hours to my cottage highway. Able to blast up to 90 mph, if need be. Very stable. Ride ATV trails all day having a blast. Great power and seat height. None of the other Dualsports and T7 allowed me to do both with such confidence. My favorite bike so far hands down.
BTW. I absolutely LOVE your content. Very helpful, honest. Keep it up. Thanks.
Sad to see the KLR leaving your stable. I can’t see owning an XR myself simply because it’s only suited for short trips. I like to do a lot of longer trips so the KLR fits me well. For the shorter stuff I have a KLX 230 that is the bomb for exploring close to home .
Yeah, definitely a sad day. Riding a new bike home was pretty cool though! Yeah, little bikes are awesome! I love my TW!
Hard to go wrong with a DR or DRZ
Definitely! Suzuki makes some good stuff!
Awesome man! Now you’ve had all 3. Rock on Swanky!
Heck yeah!
The guy getting the KLR got the way better deal.
Absolutely😂😂dude is telling everyone in the county
I think we both got a decent deal. Saved me $300 on the seat and a whole day or more to search for a DR. Plus, once I sold the KLR I'd probably have chicken out on buying a DR. 🤣
Having owned 10+ bikes in my lifetime and owned a KLR. The KLR is not a good deal for anyone.
They are heavy gutless wonders.
To each their own.
Hell no upgrade... For sure. KLRs just don't hold their value. I can go on FB market place right now and find 12 KLRs within 40 miles of me for sale.
I miss my 2006 klr. I quit riding at 65. I just don't quite have the reflexes to feel safe. But, I met an older guy when I took a long trip to Wyoming from the ozarks. Probably 2008. He checked over my klr and asked me a bunch of questions. I think he was just making sure I knew the limitations of man and machine. The gentleman was on a vstrom. The most telling statement he made, and the point of this longer note, was, "he missed his old klr, and if i got a more street oriented or more dirt oriented bike, i would miss the klr." One guys opinion. I can see if you want more dirt capable the suzuki is that.
Aside from the ergos, it’s lighter for sure, but far lower range. For more excitement, I just added a new Triumph Tiger 900 RP to my stable. Over the years, I’ve learned to avoid selling anything that is so worthy of me doing all the comparison research, purchasing it and enjoying it. It’s hard to give away a Baby! ❤ (But I understand “content” likes to evoke emotion.)
My three favorite true big bore dual sports. XR, DR and 701 which I own. Why wouldn't I enjoy this channel. Good job and looking forward to more content. This should be fun. Thanks.
I really hope so!!! Thank you!!!
Bold move sir. I like it, I think I am pretty interested in where this channel is going.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that!!!
I used to have a DR and I absolutely loved it! I now have a '23 KLR and I absolutely love that bike also. It would be hard for me to go back to a carburetor.
Haha 😆 it is actually kind of annoying 🤣
Happy for you and your willingness to explore. Im just a 2022 KLR Adventure kind of guy
Thanks man! It's become a necessity, but one that I'm enjoying!
Congratulations on the DR. Looking forward to see what you do to it. I've always thought a Lectron or smart carb would be interesting on this bike. Also thought a 19/17 wheel combo (with windscreen of course) would make a decent road bike. Finally the lighter weight would be a big plus for me.
Thank you! Huh, interesting. That would make for a fun ride!
This new content is absolutely awesome brother👊 can't wait to see what happens to these two big thumpers
Thanks man!!! I'm glad to hear that! I can't wait either, hopefully spring comes back soon... Lol.
Excited to see what you do to it!
Thanks! Me too 😂
@@SwankyCatProductions I like the one Upshift did.
Just installed a tm40 pumper carb on my friends DR650. Transformed that bike, its a wheelie machine now!
Oh yeah?!?! Nice! I'm not sure what my plans will be for performance mods yet. That sounds interesting though!
How was the throttle feel? I've heard that mod can make the throttle really stiff. I know that's subjective though.
I put a full Cogent Suspension on mine and that also will transform the bike.
The DR is a good, solid bike, and a great canvas to personalise. Practically everyone will want the seat and suspension sorted. Practically everywhere can do it. And then there are the accessories! So much bling. 😮
Even though mine died, I still happily recommend DRs as inexpensive, lightweight all rounders. Mine took me halfway across my continent and back, several times. Good, capable bikes.
Great bike! I bought my 2019 new in 2020 and have just over 21k miles on it now. Only one problem I've had was a loose fuel line due to a failing hose clamp. I look forward to seeing what you get up to on it. Ride safe and enjoy!
Nice! That's not bad at all! My first KLR stuck an exhaust clamp through it's own air box 🫠 ha ha. Thank you!!!
Congratulations on a great bike.
Thank you!!!
I have a KLR with some sweet upgrades and I love it .. I'll be riding it to work in the morning
I'm glad to hear that! I always enjoyed taking mine!
I wouldn't mind one of those, but I wouldn't trade my KLR for it.
Haha, fair enough!
To each his own.
Both parties seem happy, and that's all that counts. I have a DR650 and DR350 but ride with a KLR and WR guys. All are decent bikes, each with its own quirks, pros and cons. Good luck with the new bike. Looking forward to seeing it put to use.
Nice! Yeah it's funny how different all these bikes are. For some reason I thought they'd be more similar I guess, but perhaps I'm just paying much closer attention now.
Anxious to hear what your thoughts are about the DR. I also have e one and have done some mods. For me, it’s a good do all type of bike. I have a dedicated large street bike but this is my explore/dirt road/off road bike that can also get me to these places and not be too punishing on the road to get to these places.
Best of luck
Nice! Yeah that all sounds about perfect for me!!! Thank you!
Two of my favorite bikes XR650L, dr650 SE. XR is gear down for woods work. The Dr is geared down a little bit. More forest roads riding. The Dr needs suspension help and the XR needs an oil cooler... At least down in the south. Tires are d606 on both bikes. You are going to have some fun...
Texas on the prairie
Nice! I'm glad to hear that. I'm really looking forward to getting to know them too. Should be a blast!
Great editing and choice of music !
Thank you!
Nice send off to the KLR, sorry to see it leave. Started watching for the KLR content and have enjoyed the build as well as the rides. Looking forward to the comparison between the Honda and Suzuki. You now have the trifecta in the big bore thumpers.
Thanks man!!! Haha yeah I'm pretty pumped about it!!!
You got a great deal ! Your DR-650 already has some of the basic mods … Knobby tires, Skid plate, Barkbusters, side case protectors and a new seat. I bought a 2021 DR-650 and have only 1000 miles on it so far (they were put on in 2022). I am still on the fence about keeping it though since I didn’t ride at all in 2023 because of the crappy weather we had every weekend that year. If I do keep it the first thing it needs is the tires then the bark busters.
Thanks! I think so too. The seat was a huge selling point for me and the rest will be a huge time saver! Aww man, that stinks! We're pretty lucky here as far as weather goes, especially this winter!
I considered the KLR and DR before I bought my XR. The Honda made more sense to me. I'll be excited to see what you modify on the Dr.
Yeah I'm interested to see which I end up liking best! Thank! I'm pretty excited!!!
Fully Farkled DR650 here, and a T7. I'm pretty happy with the combo!
It's a totally different animal with a modded and jetted stock carb, de snorkled and cut airbox, and exhaust. Wakes it up so much!
TM40 pumper for even more low end hit!
Interesting. The DR is a pretty different animal than the T7. Even my KLR was pretty different!
@SwankyCatProductions I just have a soft spot for that DR! It was my first street legal dual sport after 25 years of street bikes and it made me question "why the hell didn't I get one of these YEARS ago?!"
My T7 is the 300+ mile day freeway to forest service road bike. DR was definitely not as good for those types of days.
Congratulations on the DR. Now go spend some money @ Procycle
I've owned the other 2 , interested to see how this pans out for you!
Pro Cycle is your new best friend and enjoy making the DR your own. So much fun and those who don’t know, don’t know. Yes there are better bikes, but you can do everything your self to build and maintain that DR and that is so cool
Haha yeah they certainly have some good stuff for these bikes! I'm pretty excited to see what I can do with both this and the XR! Should be fun!
I also traded, your channel for one with KLR content.......Hate to go, but hope you enjoy your new bikes.
Thank you!
Hell, yes !!!!
Glad you approve, Mike!
Fking pumped! 👌 Fellow DR owner here!
Glad to hear it bro!!! I'm pumped too!
The mighty Dog Rooter. You part of an exclusive club 😂
Hahaha 🤣
I had a DR sold it and bought a KLR ( really liked it)- sold it and bought another Mighty DR!
Haha, that's awesome!!!
variety is the spice of life......that's the problem, we all need 6 bikes each, as each one does something different, better....but I can only have one...look forward to seeing the upgrades.
Ha ha yeah it will definitely be an interesting summer! Thanks!
Heellllll yyyaaaa man! Welcome to the club. The klr has more bling and farkle, but the dr has more longevity and capability! It wont blow your socks off. But ot also wont ever let you down either. I would say you will enjoy the xr more in the dirt, but the enjoy the dr everywhere you take it.
Advice from a dr owner. 1) double check the nsu switch and rewire the kickstand sensor. 2)20L tank and concept seat. 3) one jet higher then stock, high performance needle, and replace the can with something more open. 4) I raised the gearing by one tooth on the back for highway miles. Made a big difference. 5) lastly, and underestimated mod, front lower crash bars and folding highway pegs! Really let's you stretch out your legs and relax on long rides. Soooo underestimated for comfort.
Lots of good mods and ideas there, thank you! I once had a, somewhat cramped, Virago 1100. The highway pegs on that were definitely nice... Hmm
Almost sad video, all those memories!
I know!!! Haha. Wasn't actually my intention to start, just seemed like a good send off!
I don’t understand why people call a KLR650 a dual sport. The weight and suspension really puts it in the adventure category.
Very true. The Gen1 was. The Gen2, not so much.
Had a dr350, sold it for a KLR, sold that for a tiger800xc, and now i cant stop thinking about selling it for a DR650.
Searching for that damn unicorn A bike your not afraid to drop. Comfortable for long trips , and capable of difficult trails. And costs less than $7k used with low miles
I think you made a good trade. Some of the mandatory mods look like theyre already take. Care of.
Honestly it seems like the DR with a rally fairing is the unicorn a lot of us are looking for. If it's not, I'll let you know!!!
@SwankyCatProductions
Really Looking forward to your opinion once you get a good feel for it!! It's just a matter of time before I get one :) hopefully this summer.
Cool! This is getting interesting...
I like the color too. Good looking bike.
Is there something to bolt a rally tower to on this one?
yea, drs aftermarket is vast. I have the brittania fairing, its fantastic but a bit pricey. That said, it also sorts your lighting in the most amazingly good way at the same time. Turn night into day.
Oh yeah they do!!! That is the long term plan too, should be a pretty solid KLR rival!
dr650 is a great bike, ive bought and sold many bikes in my years but my dr will never leave my stable. So many mods to make it your own.
Definitely! I'm really looking forward to modding and riding mine!
Ive been wanting to upgrade from my klx300 and ive been considering this or the XR. Glad you now have both. Keep up the great content!
Thank you! I think either would be a good option. There are a few things I like more about the DR, but the XR is pretty interesting. Can't wait to see how they both do off road!
Love to see a good trade
The music playing during the memories reminded me of old school @nutnfancy videos.
Funny, don't know that one though.
@@SwankyCatProductionsnutunfancy is probably one of the better gun tubers out there
That’s cool. I’m looking for an XR but the DR is my fallback if I can’t find one. Guess I’ll have to keep watching.
Glad to hear that!
Hell yeah! I can’t wait to see where you go with this one. But I am a little biased, as I am a DRZ owner.
Thanks! Yeah, I think this will be a pretty cool adventure!
I was just watching Fort Nines DR 650 video. Cool.
I don't that I've seen that one... Probably have, but I'll need to watch it again either way!
@@SwankyCatProductions it just came out the other day. They show some love to the DR community. I actually wondered if you had watched that video and decided to do the trade.
Get ready to fall in love. This ones a keeper
Haha yeah? It'll definitely be interesting to see how I like them a year from now!
Have been thinking about getting a 650. Interested in hearing your opinion on which one of the 3 is best for gravel roads.
Nice! My guess now is DR, but we'll see! Should be fun!!!
Put Cogent suspension on that, front and rear. You absolutely will not regret it. It transforms it into a completely different animal. It's the best thing i did to mine. That fork dive will just about be completely eliminated.
I think I'll probably try for that down that road aways. Seems like it'd definitely be worth it though!
that's COOL ! I love hearing of a good traide ! you both get what you wanted and everyone is happy. now you have a DR650 and an XR650L ....the next year should be really interesting for your viewers ! both of these bikes are good strong robust bikes capable of 75mph on the street yet can do serious dirt as well.... they can go where Jeeps can't and more often than not do it cheaper too..... their a bunch faster than a 4 wheel jeep in the rough too.
but harder to haul a bunch of stuff with you.... but they can haul enough.... they are the only way to go in my opinion..... there is an Aussie on you tube that hops up the DR650 and makes it a Monster ! he rides wheelies all the time and is very good at what he does.
there is your performance increases for both the DR and XR ! he's good... he calls the DR a bush pig ! but it preforms like no DR i have ever seen and the improvements are really superficial no major engine stuff at all.... find him and learn ! I can't wait to get my XR650L
working like that..... I know they can.... it's just hard to find knowledge !
Thanks Bob!!! Haha yeah I've seen him too, pretty impressive! I'm also really excited to see how comfy I can make both of these for on road riding too! I'm hoping I can build them both to run single track, yet still have decent wind protection. I can't wait!
Welcome to the fold my friend 😎
Thanks man!!! 😁. Looks like we're back on the same bike again! Haha.
@@SwankyCatProductionscertainly does and what a legend of a bike it is 💪 Looking forward to your DR content 🤙
I certainly hope he gave you the bike and a fat stack of cash.
I just bought a 2014 dr650 with 9600kms on it. This thing cold starts better than my old bike, a 2014 honda CRF250L with less kms! The stock suspension doesn't make it feel as nimble, but that's not a huge concern for myself.
Man, the DR650 love fest just grows and grows on the internet this week.
Really curious to see what you'll be doing with the DR, XR, and 701 all at the same time....
Honestly I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the 701 now... not sure I can bear to sell it though so I'll see if I can work some videos in. All I need to do is ride it I guess 🤣
@@SwankyCatProductions Do you not like the 701 that much or something? I was going to say, haven't seen it in too many videos.
I'm interested to see what you have to say about the XR vs DR. I picked up an XR a couple summers ago, I've loved it so far. It definitely has some quarks. I chose it over the DR mainly for the suspension but it sure would be nice to have a cush drive. Also, its a tall beast that likes to fall over with the 22L acerbis tank full of gas, which it needs because its thirsty.
Cool! Yeah it'll be interesting to see how they compare through the builds!
KLR has likely been to more of the earths far corners than any other bike. They are durable and reliable. But, I see you've found another option just as good and 100 pounds lighter....
DR for short guys.
XR for tall guys.
Both great options.
Agreed, agreed and agreed! They each do seem to cater to a specific set of needs. Kinda cool!
The '90's are calling, it want's it bike back.
Lmao 🤣 I WAS FORGED IN THE NINETIES!
The dsports are not fun above 70 mph mine was dancing under me any recommended tire pressures to try?
I'm surprised how well behaved they are on my 701 and DR actually. Much much better than on the KLR!
I'm 46 years old. You now have two bikes that haven't changed since I was in high school.
... Make it 3, I forgot about the TW.😆
Lmao that's awesome! 😎
DRs respond very well to easy mods. A pro cycle jet kit and a Gixxer muffler will wake it right on up. But beware, once you start, it keeps going.
Haha yeah my buddies bike seemed to come to life pretty dramatically with only a couple free mods. I'm pretty excited!
Nice!
Thanks!
I love my 2016 DR.
I think I'm going to love mine!
I love my DR650!
I think I do too!
My klr is a pig off road but good on the highway with the big tank and wind protection if I could spend more time off road I would have the dr so much lighter Minnesota
Check out Dirtracks crash protection and luggage racks. I think heavier springs are a must for the DR650. You will want to uncorked that Mikuni carb right away. Larger and dropped pegs must be on your short list as well. Looking forward to the comparison to the XR
Definitely some good advice there! Apparently I need some solid mount pegs as well, I didn't realize Suzuki went to rubber isolation too?
@SwankyCatProductions I think the DR has always had rubber mount pegs. JNS has some nice peg mounts, lowered and lowered and offset versions. I love the JNS LED headlight.
I couldn't see around my shoulders with the stock mirrors. The Doubletake setup is the best safety investment you can make on the DR650.
With the comparison bike vids a while back, had a feeling you would get a DR.
Haha yeah the XR sort of surprised me. The DR has been a long, time, coming.
Dumb Ass. I've had the KLR, DR650, and XL 650. The KLR is the on 5:13 ly bike both comfortable for a 500 mile day (Cadillac Sofa Ride) and can still go anywhere with the proper suspension and motor upgrades. Are the XR better off road, yes they are. But they suck if you have to tide a couple of hundred miles on the pavement to get there or back. Oh wait, I forgot, you can't ride a couple of hundred miles on the Dr or Xl without pushing the thing. If you want okx school do it all, KLR is the only choice. Peace Out
You can absolutely ride the DR more than a couple hundred miles at a time. Obviously the KLR has better wind protection, but the DR is a capable tourer when setup right. I have Cogent suspension on mine, a Seat Concepts commuter seat, heated grips, lowered pegs, and can easily tour all day.
Mods man. Mods.
Ahhh just being snarky. I get it you produce content and you need to highlight different bikes. They are all great if you dump enough money into them, I myself have 11K in my KLR. So I'm a DAss myself! Ride on!
I've had a DR 650 before I bought my KLR650 and I would not go back to a DR 650, YOU CRAZY!👊🤣✌️🇭🇲
Yeah? Why's that?
@@SwankyCatProductions Because DR has a crappy little fuel tank, a shitty little seat and no fairing at all which contributes to wind fatigue on longer rides and offers no weather protection at all. It has a crappy little display and if the machine gets too hot, you'll have to wait till it cools before starting.
Now you can upgrade some of those things, but the suspension and brakes are not designed for the extra weight those mods will bring. Overall, believe me, it's an inferior bike compared to our beloved KLR650.
But hey, each to their own and no doubt with your extensive experience with the KLR, you will find out for yourself, Cheers Crazy Cat!👊🤣✌️🇭🇲
There’s room for both bikes. I have had both and would own both. I have more fun on the DR650 if I’m honest.
Haha yeah I'm afraid that's the conclusion I'll end up coming too 🤣. Oh yeah? Why's that?
DR is legendary and for good reason. My major complaint is 1st gear is too long for slow technical riding.
Mmm yeah, I can see that!
put a smaller sprocket on the front and you will be fine.
@@CesarRamirez-cn5fw then you lose decent highway speeds. I live in an area where you need to ride at least an hour on the highway to get to offroading areas so gearing matters. My klx300 actually has good gearing for both so I'm pretty happy with it.
I'd want to keep the KLR but also buy the DR... but I'm indecisive.
Anyway, they're both pretty much as bullet proof as each other, though post apocalypse, the DR would be my choice. 😅
I had a DR650 20 years ago or so. I liked the motor but the gas tank was too small, the seat was not comfortable, and there was little wind protection. I bought it in January (I'm in Canada) and I sold it in June with 18,000 kms on it.
aftermarket sorts all of that easily. Brittania or Yenkro both make excellent fairings but others exist as well. Gas tank is usually thrown in if asked at a dealer, several available in several sizes up to 6.6 gal. Seat Concepts or a Sergeant saddle transforms bike to a supple ride sacrificing nothing in the agility. DR's are an affordable bike expected to be suited to needs. Some like it directly off the shelf, most buy with intentions in mind to sort the things they want to sort.
@@PaulKind3d Good to know. I just bought a 2023 KLR 650S. I’ve had to buy a few things, USB connection, crash bars, side stand foot, foot pegs, and Tusk aluminum panniers.
The tank will be an issue, no way around that. But I've got a plan for that, and the wind protection! Hard to beat a KLR that comes with all that x 10 though!
I got mine brand new in 2022. A lady texting hit me after blowing a stop sign right when it turned over 40 miles. Totaled the bike. I walked away with road rash because I jumped off right as she hit my rear tire. T bone, basically.
I miss that bike every day. I haven't got another bike since. Im honestly too scared to ride where I live.
Whoahh that's insane. Glad you saw it coming and got out of there! I'm still pretty freaked from my accident a couple years ago. I'm lucky enough to be way out of town though so I don't have to deal with the public.
I’ve had a Gen 1 and a Gen 2 KLR and a Gen 3 is doubtful. I’ll go with a DR or a Himalayan.
Yeah?? Why's that?
If both parties are happy, believe it's a win win situation. I may be wrong, but the math/money on both probably close. Respectfully.
Yeah I think we both feel like it worked out well for each of us! Kinda cool!
I love Suzukis.
Same!
Good deal.
I think so!
Good stuff swank... ignore the hate
Thanks man!
I think the Gen 1 KLR was more comparable to the XR and the DR. You are right though , the new KLR is a different animal.
Check out the KLR 650 C model. Sold in Canada and Europe.
I will add that you should have kept the klr so that you would have all 3 pigs
Haha there wouldn't have been any room 🤣
Nice bikes, both of them. The DR650 is 100 plus pounds lighter than the KLR650, both are single cylinder, it's associated vibration, and you gained 3 hp. However, being lighter the DR650 may not be as comfortable on the road, but being lighter it will have better off road manners. Am I missing something, it appears in your video your not riding in mountains or hilly terrain, it looks like flat land geology, and like me, have to travel to these areas for off road riding. If you don't mind me asking, why didn't you move up to a bigger bike? After I totaled my 22 CB500X, I bit the bullet and bought a Transalp 750, oddly weighs 20 lbs. more than CB or about the same as your KLR 650.
Yep, very good points! I actually owned a Tenere 700 a few years back. They are great on the road but I want to see if I can make these bikes, the XR and DR, near as comfy as the KLR. That way I can enjoy them on the way, and then run single track! The Tenere and KLR always made me worried I'd break my leg haha.
Supermoto it... Quick swap between stock wheels w/ knobbies and the SM wheels.
I've seen a few like that! Does sound fun...
Now it’s time for cogent suspension, gsxr pipe, tm40 carb, -1 front sprocket, trash can windscreen lol
Oh man, haha. Soon! Soon!
@@SwankyCatProductionsI had KLR first, Dr 2nd and just test rode the gen3 KLR, maybe I should get XR so I can have the trifecta lol you will enjoy the Dr I’m sure, somehow it is the 3rd place one for me, never owned a xr but have ridden one and I put it 2nd before Dr and klr first
And 3rd gear is the grenade gear but that issue was supposedly fixed back in the 2000’s and 2017 and later they started loctiting the nsu screws
Traded my 23 KLR for a 24 Honda Transalp XL750. Best decision I've made in a while!!!!!!! A superb bike and far superior to the KLR in every way!!
Nice! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
KLR is a nice bike, DR is just better in every regard however. Better offroad, better onroad, better power, better power band, all of this doubly so when modded. Like clint eastwood and his guns, over my cold dead body will i part with my DR.
Hahaha 😂. It definitely seems like an awesome adventure bike and pretty hard to beat!
I thought he was referring to a Yamaha Tenerre 700
Haha, well I've already had one of those!
Dr650 isnt really a klr competitor, klr is more tour, dr is more dual sport. If im heading across the country im grabbing the klr, the dr is what i load onto the pickup for an afternoon on the trail.
Yeah, it's really just the price tag, displacement and terrain/trips they can tackle that make them competitors in my mind. They're also the first dual sport decision I made. Almost bought the DR, but went KLR for 8 years instead ha ha.
The DR is a far superior motorcycle, as a guy who has owned both I can promise, you’ll be happier with the DR.
I'm definitely enjoying it so far!
Why own a DR and an XR though? The XR is better than the DR in every way
Cuz I make dual sport motorcycle content?
Sometimes, when you’re not making Chinese e-bike content 😂
They're equal bikes, it's a sideways move!
I would have went up to at least the Kove 450 Rally or Tenere 700.
Yeah, I thought that too. Not the case though, these two are sooo much different than the KLR. I've owned a Tenere for a few years, not something that fits my riding. I want a bike I can run single track and highway on. The Tenere is NOT the bike for that.
22 KLR
😂
Scrolled all the way down to comment this. Thank you. Now my OCD and rest.
Did he give you $ too? 😊
Nope, straight trade! Saved me $300 on a seat and a whole day or more of searching for a DR!
Wow! That doesn't look like good trade. Seems like you went down.
The DRs seem to hold value a lot better than the Gen3s. That aside though, I saved $300 on a seat, taxes since it was a straight trade and a whole day of finding and buying a DR. So I'm actually incredibly pleased!
@@SwankyCatProductions I have a Harley, I was thinking about getting a klr. From what I've seen the Klr seems to be more of a adventure bike and the Suzuki seems more off road only. I didn't care for the new one, sorry. But I'm glad you got what you wanted. If I could afford it I'd get a HD Pan America 🇺🇸
You will get another KLR.. lol... just give it time :) Next time.. get a 2nd Gen.. and do it right!
I think I may do a custom gen1 sometime actually!
