Hey Iain, I just subscribed to your channel. I really appreciate you picking up the litter. I always do that whenever I am at the beach also, I just cant walk by it and do nothing. Where I live in California a ton of tourists come over the summer and or weekends and I've noticed they have a much greater propensity to litter. Whenever I catch them doing this in the act I call them out. It really pisses me off. Sometimes their friend or someone will say sorry and pick it up or sometimes I'll end up picking it up. Last summer I was walking down some beach stairs to one of my local spots and one of these tourists dropped a beer bottle and it shattered all over the stairs. He just kept on walking, really grinded my gears because kids runs up and down those stairs and could easily have cut their feet. Anyway, I gave him an earful and his friend apologized and helped me clean up the glass. Anyways, great video man; appreciate your message on pollution. Keep our beaches beautiful.

I saw a Couple of Seals at Houtbay 2 day's Ago... that have thing's around their Necks... I want to contact OCN... Naudé has been down here before helping Seal's.. but before we Contact Him We Should Check to see How Many of the Seals are affected... It's Bad for Our Marine Life.. Thank You that You Guys are so Awesome in picking it Up.. I'm in Jnb.. but really want to help with Nature conservation even for the penguin's..... 🌟❤🌟

I have a Tamega Bat Tail back in the day and for some reason it was easier for me to do rollos and get air off the lip. As far as the mob of babboons be careful my friend they carry grenades jk, I totally agree with you and that’s a great analogy be the change you want to see. In Oceanside were I live there’s thousands of visitors every summer and I’ve gotten very agitated by the trash left behind, so every time I go out I take a trash bag and clean up, others see it and I hope it inspires them to do the same, the beach can’t clean up after us, anyways Iain love your spirit and your shredding.

As a heavy rider I prefer bat-tail. More speed and surface area in the water. Def took some time to getting use to it. Had to push that rails hard to get it to stop from sliding out.
Agreed that it would benefit you for sure as a bigger guy. We have one coming next year. Really excited about it 🤙🏼
I prefer the crescent, more controlled and can hold in the big surf, the bat tail just gets a bit uncontrollable out at big surf, still fun to use though 🤙🤙🤙
Yeah I am interested to see what the bat does in some bigger waves. Will definitely keep trying and testing to see how it goes. I love the crescent too.

Nice board and awesome reverse airs! Love Bat tails too but I have to take shorter boards. It feels more steady but a bit harder to maneuver.
Yeah it would have slightly less foam too so might be a bit harder to ride.

Was waiting for this one! Really excited for the next video on the bat tail to help make a final decision on buying bat tail or sticking to crescent. Maybe having one of each for different conditions? We'll see!
That’s exactly what I want to test. If that is an option and I can do one for certain conditions it would be awesome. But if that’s an option I’ll let you know for sure.

Funny. If you go back to the 2005 to 2010 everyone used bat tail, for big or small waves. For bigger people like me (not tall but rather aerodynamic) bat tail rides better. I have been using bat since 2005, changed to crescent because they disappear and got back to bat tail again now. In my case bat rides better and use the crescent for bigger and hollower waves. Being riding more than 30 years, I have seen many things. Sometimes is just fashion. Teach baboons to clean up their mess 😅
Hahaha. If they could be taught I am sure someone would have already 😂😂 yeah I think each to their own. If you feel better on a bat tail then ride the bat tail. If you feel better on a crescent, ride a crescent. And that’s what is so cool about our sport. Nobody can say their way is better than anyone else. We all just here to enjoy the ocean and get barrels and ramps.

Hey mate I love bat tails . I usually ride a 42” crescent but now I mostly ride 41.5 - 41” battails . I’m no where nearly your level of riding but I love these boards in sucky waves where I can do more pocket moves because of the looseness of them . Also well done on cleaning up the rubbish ! sick session! 🤙🏽

Good stuff mate I always pick up any plastic or rubbish on my beach cant stand the thought of a turtle or bird eating it we are lucky to love in a beautiful place but some places are so bad it's hard to have any hope

Just got back into it, have a single stringer 42 and the Cresent tail always feels/felt faster on bigger longer faces but my old bat tail got me under moree faces then any board. It was a an old bz that I got for cheap from a friend.
Also me and my son have a rule of cleaning up anywhere we camp ours or not! Keep up the good work

One question is there sharks in this area. Lol 😂
Jip young SA bodyboarder lost his life there couple of years ago. Shark activity dropped though due to myriad of environmental issue but mostly due to orcas patrolling the coast and eating only the liver of great white sharks. Ive paddled in a couple of times and seen that dreaded silhouette in the back line.
Yes there are sharks there. We have a dedicated team that watch us while we are surfing and let us know if there are sharks around. They are there 365 days a year. Lucky to have them but still a dangerous spot.
next time you go caves set up a camera from the cliff. Will be a sick angle but hope no monkeys get it haha
Hahaha. I’m not leaving my camera set up on the beach for the monkeys or any passers by to have a look at or grab. Definitely don’t have the money to replace that.

Too open and too many peaks to get a good shot. Just be too worried about someone taking it or the baboons destroying it.

Have no idea man. It was a mess though though so threw a lot of the stuff away that the monkeys destroyed. No number or anything on. Very strange they left it and also where they left it.

Not exactly but it makes it a lot easier if you have a lip to hit.

I think so! It’s a lot looser in the tail meaning that the board may be a bit harder to control but once you figure it out it’s all smooth sailing!

Is tricks different on a bat tail so like a backflip is there a different technique or is it the same
Not at all. Mostly just a change in how you ride when on the face of the wave. That was my first time back on a bat tail after a good couple years so will take some time for me to figure it out completely.
