    Advice from another smaller creator that does in depth things that it's easy for bigger creators to reference. They will take your design regardless what you say, so you have to use it to your advantage. Item sorting is painful in Minecraft. Ask them to give you 5 seconds of credit and actually reach out to you. Even if they don't see the video, someone will show them. I found you through a big creators comments. You should embrace being the expert item sorter guy. Have different types of videos geared at different audiences. Multiple for the same system. Maybe a short showcase, a in depth build guide, detailed description of the inner workings (how hoppers lock and different ways to do it), and finally, ways to change it. Extensions, stacking on top, troubleshooting, USING LESS RESOURCES, etc.
    Love the stuff! Keep it up! Don't burn out!

    As others have said I keep getting items stuck at the first dropper pair. The redstone torch beneath the first up dropper locks whatever I put next to that dropper to feed it. Leaving either 1 or a stack of things stuck. Sometimes it works flawlessly, but in testing just now I've had it clog and stop moving items 10 out of 15 attempts. I look forward to any updates you come out with as I don't need one of the huge multi-item sorters and yours is the perfect size for my storage system.

    • @Edee3
      @Edee3 Před rokem +1

      I had the same problem. Then I realized I never put the redstone torch under the droppers 😅 Now the problem I'm having is getting items stuck in the system until I throw more items into the input chest. It's as if the entire system turns off when the input chest is empty and any items in the system cycling through just stops where it is...

    • @casperghost9808
      @casperghost9808 Před rokem +1

      With this design its just always going to leave some behind the only way around it is to force the entire system to continue activating after the items have made their pass which would kinda defeat the purpose. You need a clock to do that.
      There is another way to circumvent the issue though. Hook up a farm that produces a few items passively and pipe it into the input line. And store it in the last chest this way items are being continuously flushed out7

    • @TheAntroy
      @TheAntroy Před 8 měsíci +6

      @@casperghost9808 There is another way. I have an item filter (standard impulse filter) at the ver end which filters out paper named "X" just before the unsorted chest. This picks up any bits of paper named X and puts them back in at the start. You need exactly the same number of X papers in the system as there are modules. These will continue around the system until they have flushed all other items out (at which point each top dropper will have an X paper stored in it).

    Does this need to be built in spawn blocks? I’ve built mine a bit outside and I think when I move outside of the blocks this runs in it’s getting a bit messed up if it’s still processing.
    Also running it with about 40 chests in two rows joined with a soul sand duct/stream.
    Works nicely overall.
    Only other issue is needing to only take with right clicks while it’s operating otherwise random items can drop in.

  • @BloxKilla
    @BloxKilla Před rokem +26

    Unfortunately there always will be one item left behind in the top droppers, these items will find their way to the destination chest eventually, but I’d call that a flaw

    • @wolfjb
      @wolfjb Před rokem +3

      Yep, I have the same problem. I tried putting a button on the top of the top dropper or the block from the comparator so I can manually push things along, those solutions don't work either.Guess I'll just leave access to the droppers and pull the items out and sort them manually
      UPDATE: Using wooden buttons on top of the blocks receiving the signal from the comparator will push items along. However, the longer the chain of chests (ie, the more modules) the more items that get stuck from the beginning (first module after the input) until the chest holding the sorted item. In my case (so far) that is 5 buttons to press to get the 5 items unstuck and sorted.

    • @HeieiX
      @HeieiX Před rokem +2

      I like that this design isn't much more complicated than silo sorters with the item filters in hoppers. I also really like that it's silent. Biggest pet peeve about dropper based systems SOLVED! I wonder what would be required to insure the items in the droppers flush out reliably? That was a flaw in previous versions that I was hoping would be fixed here. Lastly, does a sorter like this have any compatibility with bulk chests underneath. What I mean is, can it stack horizontal AND vertical (for more bulk). Either way, awesome work!

    • @SkippysBacon
      @SkippysBacon Před rokem +3

      Not an issue if you have a regular feed of items into the system.
      Or you could just flush the items out with a stack of dirt as the last to go through.

    • @esaedromicroflora1247
      @esaedromicroflora1247 Před rokem +2

      this is a very minor flaw if you use your sorter regularly. Just put as last chests the ones with the item you mine most (dirt, stone...) and if you get paranoid that some diamond or netherite ingot could be stuck somewhere, dump in the system a couple of stacks of dirt. Or build a clock at the beginning and activate it periodically. Or really just ignore it, everything would go in its place the next time you use it.
      Seei it like this: it's like complaining that your water pipes always hold some water in it and don't get completely empty when you use your faucet :D

      The top Dropper gets powered by the bottom one since it is being charged by the torch, this does seem to be taking advantage of sub-tick mechanics. Both droppers are being powered in the same tick but since the bottom one is closest to the torch it will fire first and the top one second.
      P.S. Sub ticks mechanics are not involved, both droppers get powered so the item at the bottom dropper gets shot up, while the one at the top shoots it out, these 2 steps happen at the same time, which is way items get stuck in the system if only one item is sent the first bottom dropper will shoot it up and it will stop there, if a second item gets sent trough the top dropper will shoot it out

      So the thing where items would slowly get stuck in the first dropper is completely gone, but the thing where one item stays in each dropper is still there on this design, although I did make a design where it doesn't do that

      Make sure you are using droppers and not dispensers. That should solve the issue.
      Make sure you remember also to place the redstone torch under each dropper (attached to the block the comparator sits on)

    well.. it requires you to fill an entire chest, and one item always gets stuck. on top of that its pretty slow and you cant easily expand it, but i think it will be perfect as some kind of initial filter. use this to sort cobble/dirt/coal and other things you have a lot of, and then hook the output out to an actual sorting system and you should be golden. this way your main storage isnt busy with filtering some garbage because it all stays in here.
