    Here's a preview of Seattle's "big" deadline move:
    Mariners trade Jorge Polanco for Brandon Drury.
    Dipoto/Hollander to fans: "Drury was a silver slugger in 2022 and someone we've had our eye on for a long time."
    Dipoto/Hollander to ownership: "We just saved $2.75M."

      @@supernaturalta6174 yeah he's 🗑️this season. I was saying that best case they get a player like Brandon Drury because so far all they have done is trade for relief pitchers.

    I have been looking into stadium specific statistics and T-Mobile Field is pretty strikingly pitcher friendly but not across the board. It is sky high in strikeouts, low in hits but is in the middle of the pack in home runs. Obviously the ball flies fine but teams suffer with regard to making contact. M's hitters strikeout 3% more at home than away. Pitchers strikeout 1.5 more batters per game at home than away and know it because they walk a 1 less batter per 9 which means they know to be more aggressive in the zone. I have been wondering for some time if the strikeout issues the M's have is related to some kind of environmental issue with the stadium (hard to see the ball, etc.). It is not just them. Other teams are striking out a lot too. Hitters come into Seattle and their strikeout rates always shoot up. Our pitchers may be benefiting from the environmental issue while the hitters suffer. Not saying I know for sure what it is, but there is not a whole lot else that seems to make sense at this point. It would not surprise me if something comes out eventually about a problem with a glare or the batters eye or something like that.

      I'm not 100%, but I think that they have tried different variations on the batters eye in T-Mobile over the years. Not sure if any of the iterations have helped much. Doesn't seem like it.

      Yeah, I'm pretty much over the "it's the ballpark" excuse.
      The last time I checked, the plate is 17 inches wide at every ballpark on the planet. The problem is these guys come to the plate with an approach that the plate is 48 inches wide. It doesn't matter if they're in a little league park or Yellowstone, swing and miss is swing and miss.

    Good to know Robles is contributing. It seems Bliss was too, but he's been benched since Polanco came off the IL.

  • @seahawksbluegreen9257
    @seahawksbluegreen9257 Před 18 dny +2

    I think the M’s need to take an opposite approach in the team building and go for a prolific high scoring offense and just OK pitching. T-Mobile will make the the average or below average pitching better and our offense should get a couple more hits than the other team to hopefully get more runs and the offense on the road will be even better. Might have to home grow hitters more since the free agents know it’s a pitchers ballpark.

  • @diggitydog412
    @diggitydog412 Před 18 dny +5

    Ty France should be gone....great points about how his walks or HBP aren't as valuable as other players due to his speed or lack thereof. He has gotten a free pass by this organization based on the first half of 2022 when he hit .308 with 11 bombs and 49 RBI as an all star. SINCE THEN......in 1095 plate appearances (equivalent to nearly 2 full seasons) he has hit .240 with 29 HR's and 121 RBI. We would take those numbers if he amassed them in one season not two. He needs to go.

  • @Cwill69

    Jesse Winker was a well above average bat when we picked him up from Cincinnati. The ballpark factor is huge though comparing the great American park to T mobile. Drop off was to be somewhat expected

    Here is my thought. With all the obvious holes in the lineup and bullpen. Do we believe we want to use a lot of our prospect ammo to help a team with this many holes? Lineup needs at least 3 impact bats and the pen needs a high leverage arm and shift voth/stanek to 6/7th inning rolls. I just don’t know if this is the team worth investing prospects in

      Besides, the time for them to have done what you're talking about is/was during the past two offseasons, and this coming offseason since they've half-stepped their way to mediocrity after "ending the drought", NOT at a trade deadline with like 25 potential buyers and 5 potential sellers. That's how you get roped into trading for "league average" bats who come to Seattle and (to put it politely) aren't "league average" anymore.
