The trash talk in this fight wasn't "Classic McGregor", that is something people get skewed about. We all have memories of Conors old school trash talk, and in hindsight we think it was all vicious attacks, but it wasn't. It was usually witty, calculated, and often more about fighting ability with little jabs at personal lives or appearance. The most vicious he used to get was Nate Diaz in the rematch, and even that wasn't near as vitriolic as it gets now. Lying on the ground being protected by a dozen people with a broken leg talking shit about the guy who was just beating the shit out of you is not "classic McGregor". Anyone who says it is either misremembers, or never saw it to begin with. As a longtime fan of MMA I'm sad to see what Conor has become. Maybe he can bounce back and get a W or two before retirement.

best case scenario for Mcgregor, is to heal from this injury come back and fight 2-3 fights against lower ranked 10-20 opponents and finish off his career with a porier and diaz legacy fights and ride off with his millions into the sunset, championship window is very narrow for him at this point. He should just rack up some wins against lesser opponents and go after those 2 money fights.

Mac isn’t the same at lightweight. That’s a very hard division & he dominated much more at a lighter weight. These guys just hit harder, have that KO power, and are generally much bigger guys than in his previous division

The trash talk in this fight wasn't "Classic McGregor", that is something people get skewed about. We all have memories of Conors old school trash talk, and in hindsight we think it was all vicious attacks, but it wasn't. It was usually witty, calculated, and often more about fighting ability with little jabs at personal lives or appearance. The most vicious he used to get was Nate Diaz in the rematch, and even that wasn't near as vitriolic as it gets now. Lying on the ground being protected by a dozen people with a broken leg talking shit about the guy who was just beating the shit out of you is not "classic McGregor". Anyone who says it is either misremembers, or never saw it to begin with. As a longtime fan of MMA I'm sad to see what Conor has become. Maybe he can bounce back and get a W or two before retirement.

He should just rack up some wins against lesser opponents and go after those 2 money fights.

So logistically, Conor lost, he should fight somebody else, if he wins and Dustin loses the title fight, then he can fight Dustin again. But of course Conor is in control, always. The game is the game, always. So as that being said, and me understanding the situation, I wish it would be more order in the UFC. Make it to be a real sport, number one contenders fight for the title. Everybody else climbs their way to the title.
