- Iberia Express Trip Report flying on the brand-new Airbus A321neo from Madrid to Tenerife on a lovely spring morning.
A very comfortable flight on the Iberia Express A321neo from Madrid to Tenerife. Flying on brand-new planes is always a pleasure, but in this case, it was even more. As the title says, the cabin of this A321neo is amazing. The new LED cabin lights give an amazing atmosphere and the new and bigger cabin-bag racks make everything a lot easier.
The views were great during all the flight. Just after departure, we flew low next to Sierra de Guadarrama. After views of centre-Spain, Lisbon and the Portuguese coast, the approach to Tenerife was one of the most spectacular we have on the channel. With lots of cruises on anchor next to the island and sunny morning in the Canary Islands, all the approach and landing was amazing :)

The Airbus Neo interior is lovely. I see they have also updated the luggage bins as well! ✈️
Yeah! Completely new LED illumination (inspired by Sky Interior? maybe... :P) and new headbins that really make the difference. Now the bags can be stored vertically, so there is a lot more space :)

Fantastic photography as always. Final approach spectacular. I did smile at your intro flying with ‘IBS’. Yeah! Usually, the new-gen engines are quiet, but these ones still have a little roar during takeoff. Then, on cruise, they are super-silent. For me that's the perfect combination! :)

Fantástico vídeo, los cruceros que aparecen fondeados están a la espera de que la situación vuelva a la normalidad y puedan volver a navegar, entran al muelle a aprovisionarse nada más, le debe salir más barato que volver a su base.

The cruise ships in Tenerife are just parking in the sea cause the inactivity for the COVID and don’t occupate the harbours. From Italy, very nice trip report !

I was on a cruise 15 years ago that started and finished in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It was the last cruise of the season and once all the passengers had left to fly home, the ship was going to be taken out to anchor at sea for a few weeks for work to be done. So nothing actually unusual apart from the number of ships doing so in this video due to the pandemic.
I was wondering if the taxes to stay there are lower than other places :)
Brilliant flight report Lucas.Sensational filming.The engines were a bit noisy on take off and climb for a NEO.The approaching views were spectacular with all these cruise ships and the amazing volcano.A flight in a brand new plane and the amazing island destination was a fantastic combination.,Cheers my friend

Iberia is renewing its short/medium haul fleet with the A320neo. Iberia Express is renewing their old A321 with A321neo. They use them mainly to the flights to the Canary islands, as the demand is huge. :)

That's where some cruise ships are at anchor waiting permission to start cruising again. They have a minimum crew on board, maintenance and engineering.
My question was more focused in why there and in any other port closer to their bases. But others told me already that they were making some little cruises around the Canary Islands some months ago and they plan to resume them :)

Tenerife, ofrece al abrigo del macizo de Anaga, una zona de fondeo muy resguardada de los típicos vientos alisios de componente norte, nordeste, que dominan en esta zona del Atlántico.
Siendo dicha aérea de fondeo, muy valorada en el mundo marítimo, por lo comentado su seguridad y tranquilidad, respecto a los vientos.
A ello se une los bajos costos del “fondeo” frente al atraque en puerto, los cruceros de las navieras AIDA Y TUI (meinshiff) están “ a órdenes”....Esto es, con el personal o Staff mínimo a bordo, y esperando recibir la orden de posicionarse, allí donde su naviera lo requiera, para comenzar la temporada de cruceros, si el COVID 19, de nuevo lo permite.
La razón de muchos cruceros estar en estas aguas se produjo, por las expectativas frustradas de iniciar la temporada de cruceros de invierno por varias compañías como es habitual en la temporada de invierno, en el archipiélago Canario, que es puerto base de algunos de ellos, desde donde realizan cruceros, por todas sus islas, añadiendo, las islas de Madera, y Marruecos.

Hi Lucas. Really great views. Love the shots of the cruise ships. I wonder are there any passengers on them. Do you overnight over night or get flights back on the same day. You could review your hotel if you stay there. Also how do you know what runways you take off and land on...anyway another lovely review and camera work...cheers, gerard..

As far as I know, they are there just because of the good weather, low taxes to stay and being close to big ports (and close to where they plan to start working in the near future). No passengers at the moment.
Usually, I don't stay overnight. I usually sleep at places were there are hotels close to the airports.

Cruise ships are docked there due to COVID. You will see many of them around the world in many ports and island. Cruise ships are hit even harder than aviation . There are no cruises operating worldwide currently.
I know that, but I was asking why there and not in other ports. Just curiosity :)

Una duda (a ver si la sabes), los A321NEO de IB Express son los "normales" o son los Long Range/ Extra Long Range?
Es decir, están certificados para volar hasta América como por ejemplo algunos de TAP?
Pues la verdad es que no lo se a ciencia cierta.
Supongo que los TAP (algunos de ellos, no todos) serán los que tienen una mayor alcance. Los de IBS no tendría ningún sentido que fuesen XLR, pues lo más largo que hacen son las Canarias.
Según había leído, Iberia sí que había pedido algunos XLR. Veremos... :)

Cruise ships are all at Anchorage as there is no deployment due to Covid .Also they have to be near a suitable sized port for replenishment
Yes, makes a lot of sense. I was asking in case anyone with real knowledge could provide some more info. I mean, somebody that works at the port or similar :)
@@OnBoardHD They are also at actor generally near to their operating/cruising area where they deploy.Ie The UK based fleet are doted around the south coast of England near their operating bases in Southampton,Dover etc

Put was not a runway excursion at all. It was a crash in the middle of the runway.

@@OnBoardHD oh I see that makes better sense and actually a good question. I think it could be something to do with the cruise port in Santa Cruz allowing ships to dock. I could be wrong and hope someone will correct me :)
Respuesta a los cruceros fondeados: están en plena temporada de la merluza, luego se trasladan al cantábrico a por bonito del norte y la anchoa.
Después regresan a puerto de Tenerife, descargan las capturas para la hostelería, hoteles etc...
Cuando ejecuten una limpieza general y la colocación estratégica de algunos ambi-pur, prosiguen con la actividad habitual de ocio para las buenas gentes del planeta. Es la parte buena del covid, que en algunos casos, ante la dificultad, la creatividad se habré camino.
Ahora voy a chupar una piruleta, que me la he ganado.

2nd option (the most used):
CFM LEAP 1A the most popular engine. Did you know the CFM56 is the most selling engine.(CFM is in the top 5 classement of powerful engine:
1st: General Electric (GE)
2nd: Rolls-Royce
3rd: Pratt & Whitney

5th: IAE

Me parecio extrano que usaras la palabra " Virando" para decir turning. Creia que esa palabra es del Portugues y/o posiblemente Gallega.
Podría ser perfectamente como dices que lo hubiese introducido del Gallego. Pero en este caso, el verbo "virar" esta incluido en la lengua Española también :)
About the cruise ships. I wasn't able to find anything but maybe there was an outbreak, and they had to dock at sea. Or there wasn't enough space for all.
I dont know... I guess there is not enough cheap space for all the cruises, as in normal situation there are always a lot sailing...
The cruiseships from AIDA Cruises and TUI Cruises are docked at sea, as there are no Cruises at the moment. In winter there were normaly based 3 to 4 cruisships based at las Palmas and Santa Cruz for cruises within the canary islands, Madeira, Morrocco and the cape verde Islands

Los cruceros por la pandemia, estarán sin servicio. Si están en el puerto deberán pagar las tasas y en el mar, seguro es más barato o gratis.
Es lo que suponía, pero pregunté por si había alguien que lo supiese a ciencia cierta. De barcos se que flotan y que es un placer ir de pasajero en esos cruceros. Hasta ahí llega mi conocimiento jeje

@@OnBoardHD I was gona comment the same, stored because of the good weather down there, a couple of them have done cruises around the canarias with german passengers, If im not wrong its the Aida Prima and the biggest of the Mein Schiff, they probably also have full crew, the other ones minimum. If somebody has more info than me, correct me:)
