How to Setup the PS Vita for Beginners

- Hi, this video is aimed at people that have not had a video game console before or haven't had one in many years. It goes through resetting the system if bought 2nd hand, initial 1st time setup, connecting to the internet, charging, loading the game cartridge and memory card and basic features like remote play and using remote play from a mobile hotspot when away from home. When using Remote Play away from home on your phones WiFi Hotspot beware of your data allowance as remote play is very data hungry and you will quickly use Gigabytes of data.

I have the slim model but for 3 main reasons
1. it is lighter
2. battery last longer
3 uses micro USB so if you damage the cord getting a back up would only cost like 2$ in any store with electronics
I overall find the slim just feels and looks better and while the OLED screen might produce better color it still has a lot of draw backs as well.

Just a minor thing, but I usually set the time via the internet. It's a bit faster this way, more accurate, and you don't have to worry about changing it for daylight savings time.

@PlayStation Vita That's a shame. I haven't used my Vita in ages, thanks for reminding me, might get it out and have a play. :) It's not the best device for CZcams anyway, mainly due to no adblocker. Still got some gaming chops though ;)

Great tutorial video! I'm thinking of getting a Vita soon.
I just got one and I'm going to mod it so i can play retro games and use a SD card. This is the best handheld console to have if you have a ps4 or ps3 cuz you can play those and almost any other retro consoles except X-box. You can even stream games from your PC. I'm so happy I decided to buy one. You should really invest in one. If you do and need help just reply and I'll teach you how to get all the emulators and games on it with a SD card instead of buying memory cards.

If you still monitor questions, does the Vita take headphones with tip-ring-ring-shield or tip-ring-shield? What happens if you plug in the wrong one... will something short out? I always worry about that with any device. BTW, my PS4 uses the double ring type. Wonder if I can use those headphones? Also, somewhere I saw that for Mute, just press - and + at the same time.

That’s really cool you can actually have your PS4 main menu, you actually NEED to be near a PS4? Can’t be anywhere even though you have the main menu on your PS Vita? It’s cool and had to rewind that part. Also, do PS Vita trophies transfer to PS4?
No you don't need to be near a ps4 for remote play
I just got one from eBay always had PlayStation stuff just never had a vita I know they kinda died and they stopped making games but this thing is cool I'm into handhelds right now also I wanna use remote play on my PS4 Pro.
You can get a SD card extension if you mod it, then you can play a bunch of retro games thru emulators.

Hi, CeX is all over the UK, it isn't the cheapest but they offer a 2 year warranty and you can get a OLED version (FAT one) for approx. £85 (without the memory card). Ebay tends to be approx. £75 but personally I would rather see the PS Vita to see how bad the scratches on the screen are and have the warranty for an extra £10.

Yea, you can use a laptop or your phone with a bluetooth controller. I carry my ps4 controller and tablet with me everywhere cuz then I can use a wifi signal and play my ps4 with my tablet or laptop. It's great.

My home wi-fi has 50mb/s download speed (it's more but when i look on the Ps4 it says 50-70mb/s) and the upload speed like 40-60mb/s

Do you need a memory card?
Followed your steps and made it to the remote play and tried to connect and made it to "checking the environment screen" then a prompted pops up saying "could not log into ps4 system", then It's not letting me log into the ps4

No, you still have to get the memory card. It will NOT save to the cartridge.
That is ds/dsi/3ds not vita you need the memory card because there is no rewritable flash memory on the game card (don't know why with the dsi/3ds nintendo didn't add a option to save to the game card or sd card dsi ware/3ds download software is only game/app that does this)

I am having trouble restoring my system because it's asking me to sign in with my Playstation network account when I sign in with mine it is telling me I need to sign in with the one associated with this system which tells me the person who sold me the unit did not reset it prior to me purchase on eBay. If you mean the hotspot just make sure you have 2 extra spots one for the vita and one for the 4 (android hotspot only works up to 8 device at same time) and have security set up (so no-one else can use your hotspot [i have mine setup for up to 3 devices max with wpa2 aes encryption and on all the devices that connect i use a VPN + my phone has no root firewall app will add play store link tomorrow cause im tired right now and need bed])

If you have a adapter they will (if you mean micro sd card and the adapter has a chip in it so the sd gets emulated as the ps vita memory card)
