Toilet seats are among the most hygenic surfaces in your home. WATER is so necessary for life that if it's dry, things die. And bacteria is life. You would let the kitchen surface get wet and leave it be, but if you make the seat wet, you dry it off PDQ. It's the shower/bath/sink you need to worry about, always wet, in the same room (most places) as your crapper and when you flush you probably don't put the lid down, so when you flush, the spume lifts bits of poop and pee and distributes it in a fine mist around the room and the wet surfaces will be breeding grounds.

Visually it also looks like an homage to the ending of the original *Terminator* for that same thematic reason, with the way the clouds are moving in and everything.

so my theory is someone in the writers room suggested they do a heist movie and then dan harmon or whoever snapped and went on a massive rant and rambled about how dumb heist movies are and everyone just wrote down what he said and turned it into an episode.
He has a pretty long rant about how much he hates that heist movie about the magicians, blanking on the name.

In the film, the goal was for Leonardo DiCaprio to have Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow from Batman Begins) be inspired to dissolve his father's business empire. He did so with a "mind heist" that would lead Scarecrow into realizing that his father does not want to be him. And for Scarecrow to build something himself. As a result, Scarecrow will want to dissolve his Father's empire. Scarecrow believes he made that decision by himself but in reality he was tricked.
Rick basically did an entire heist that will result in Morty becoming uninterested in making his script. Morty as a result chooses not to make that Netflix series. Morty does not know that was Rick's plan all along.

Because you brought up Doc and Marty, in case you haven't heard the original sketch for this was called 'Doc and Marti' and was a super explicit short where they resembled Doc Brown and Marty much more.

The cybernetic hands that split into 10 fingers is a reference to Ghost In The Shell, not Ready Player One. Also, if I was to put together a fictional heist crew I’d have John Wick, Batman, Major Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost In The Shell), Mr Fantastic & Clayface.
John Wick = expert marksman, assassin, hand to hand combatant & tactician also has military training.
Batman = intelligence, technology skills, stealth, tactician, expert hand to hand combatant, escape artist master of all martial arts, agility
Major = Cyborg so enhanced strength, endurance and durability, wizard level hacker, thermoptic camouflage (stealth/ invisibility), military training, expert marksman & hand to hand combatant, enhanced agility, intelligence.

That's not possible. The cronenberg episode in season 1 is referenced again in season 2, and the end of season 2 (Rick going to prison) goes directly into season 3 (Rick breaking out of prison), and the end of season 3 goes directly into season 4 (you can tell by the change in the family dynamic that's alluded to in the season 3 finale). So we have established that the seasons are sequential. Also in the promotional material, they clearly say something along the lines of "follow us for an adventure with the smartest Rick and the mortyest Morty"- which again has already been established as our current Morty, not evil Morty."

The gathering storm isn't a reference to anything, it was just a set up for the punch line to a joke. "Yeah it might be a twister", because the episode had twists.... episode description is even "twists and turns abound".

Heist? Well, loosely...
"The Sting" with Robert Redford and Paul Newman. More of a caper, but still good. Otherwise I'm going to have to say it's not a movie and it's instead from "Leverage" - "The Zanzibar Marketplace Job". Mostly because it provides the most interesting twist on a grifter doing their work. ("That's it then, I won't say anything. Really, not one word...")
To me, since the whole episode was based on heist movies, the ending was just a joke on disaster movies (storm is coming = Twister?).
I know you guys vote on these but I would really love you to watch and react to Dragon Prince. It's from the creators of Avatar so I think you will love it on Netflix. I know Eric and Arron would defiantly enjoy the series.
Did the actual episode not have the floating Arby's bag at the very beginning or was that like a sneaky ad that Justin and Dan did for Arby's? idk... I watched with commercials on Hulu plus. If it was in the episode, what a coincidence! Eric and his Arby's death...
Morty getting his dreams of signing a deal with Netflix crushed shows that Rick fears that Netflix signing on for an unlimited number of future shows in real life (just like there were an unlimited number of heist outcomes) will create a potential for Morty to no longer go on adventures with Rick at some point in the future. Rick would rather keep Morty to himself, he was willing to kill an entire planet and he is willing to kill the deal with Netflix. Rick wants Morty to himself and doesn’t want to share him with us, either.
The ending was most likely both reference and foreshadowing. Clearly something is coming and also visual metaphors like that were use before on screen.

BUT in episode 1 of this season Rick mentions that he axed protocol Pheonix which was a reference to an earlier season where he literally took an axe and killed all of his clones because little Rick tried to kill him. I’m also pretty sure that Justin Roiland said that they won’t do anything with time travel and that they didn’t want to mess with that stuff (because time travel gets complicated).
I also know that even though there are infinite dimensions. They all follow and similar time. For example, if it’s 2020 in our dimension it should be 2020 in the other dimensions. I don’t know about the specifics but there isn’t a dimension where there’s a past Rick and Morty.

I'm a shy pooper in the sense that I don't want anyone listening in on me taking a shit. At college our bathroom was right outside the room and, if someone farted in the bathroom, the people in the room would hear. So I'd sometimes walk over to the college's public bathroom instead because it was empty most of the time and I'd have more privacy away from the dorm room.
One of the best episodes of the whole show until now imho. Loved it
