Apparently it's due to 'realism' due to how short the barrel is compared to the caliber and rounds that it fires. Relatively short barrel and its even rifled means low penetration sadly.
ya its not very good at the br on paper but the mbt-70 combined with the xm-803 is a good line up. i do pretty good in the xm-803 in fact its my best performing tank stats wise, all you gotta do is flank and have good aim for the russian tanks cause besides russia no one else has a lot of heavy armor at the br

I can't remember the last time I saw this thing either, people prefer the KPz-70 due to the 6 second reload but then again when it comes to firepower they are both equally bad.

I really enjoy how you bring CAS with you into these battles, it is a little more helpful to me to see these vehicles with a solid lineup around them. I would really like to see an updated video on some of the French 8.0-8.3 tanks as I'm getting close to them and would love to see how they work in the current balance setup
as a wiesel player (Bringing it to 9.0 when its 7.3) I can confirm we take full ammo because theres no reason not to, if you get hit the crew cant not be hit (unless someone hits your track)
People underestimate the armor on this tank and the damage model is actually bugged if you take shots at it in the turret ring center mass. But, people don't bug report it because it benefits them when playing this vehicle. The main draw to the MBT/KPZ 70 is the excellent mobility.
This is the reason in real life why the MBT-70 failed it was joint US-West German program and there's lots of disagreement particularly some parts of the tank, from outward appearance it look the same, but inside it's different tank completely, the US had problematic engine and the German doesn't, the US had reliable and functional autoloader and range finders while the German had superior gun stabilizer and better optics, etc. They couldn't even find a common ground that's one of the reasons the program is scrapped, but US Congress also viewed that a million bucks per tank is the deal breaker.
Ive recently researched the XM803 and MBT70 and im not having a good time everytime i play i get uptiers and get destroyed by leopards,t72,merkavas,challegers most of the time i have to shoot them form the side to be able to pen them but when i get shot my armor gets through and through so I'm literally playing a 9.3 tank that goes against 10.0, 10.3 that has a 8.7,9.0 tank performance

The KPZ having a faster reload is realistic, to gaijin's credit. The Germans used the GM Autoloader in their version while America wanted to keep a manual loader. Germany also wanted to put a 120mm gun into the KPZ but America insisted on the 152mm gun so it could launch atgm's, which America thought at the time would be the future of defeating armor. That isn't an excuse for them being the same BR though, with one clearly having an advantage over the other with reload speed and consistency. That's why for these reasons, national pride (and for being way, way over budget and over complicated) Germany went for the Leopard 2a4 and America redoubled their efforts into the XM program, leading to the Abrams.

kpz70, mbt70 and xm803 are just too advanced to be lowered to 8.7. Unlike heavy tanks which are difficult to balance due to their armour these tanks are difficult to balance due to their technology. Too low and you've got the most responsive vehicle at 8.7 - 7.7 too high you got the worst MBT vehicles at 9.3 - 10.3
I'm wondering what if the MBT-70/KPZ-70 bacame succesful and we would use the ancestors of it now instead of Leopards and Abramses. Would it be better (if the enginiers get rid of the problems listed by Justin) or not.

@@cyberarchitect9280 the gun change is more of a personal preference because irl it had a relatively low pressure cannon which made apfsds less effective, the german designers also wanted to use a 120 but the US was insistent that it needed to be able to fire the shillelagh missile. If they did more research into gun launched atgms then it is possible that this could've been a very good weapon system; but, as usual the US gave up an interesting project in the name of saving money.

This tank has no thermals thus it's at the bottom of the lineup at 9.0. In fact, I no longer play 9.0-9.7 US, because of this reason. With Merkavas removed US tree has a massive gap at that BR range.
Im nearly sure this used to have a better dart and they nerfed it like 80 or 90 mm pen.....not sure though edit...346 down to 285 was the nerf, so I dont see them giving it back but maybe dropping its br
You don't see many people playing it because you can't play more then one country in this game you only get one life and it take that long just to grind out you first country they need to fix the dam economy grind in this game but they never will this gaijin is killing the game

actually, no. They both use autoloaders thats the reason why it always reloads the same, no matter the crew skill. If it would be realistic, german loader would jam time to time, and american not. -> german is reloading quicker, but it likes to jamm, american prefers to rather load 1,5s longer, but actually be ready to reload and fire 😂😂
i have no idea how or why but i perform better in this and the xm803 than the xm1 in the same lineup. having a blast with the M247 tho lol this thing slaps cas butt lol.

BR for BR, XM-803 at least has something going for it. Most manuverable tanks at the BR (like leopard 1A5 NO) cannot survive 30mm APFDS from the front, but the XM-803 can. Other than that, I would be happy if the XM-803 goes to 8.7 and the MBT-70 to 9.0. The M60 RISE (P) should honestly go to 8.3 and the M60 TTS to 8.7.
The BVM is good yes, but those shots you survived are not because the BVM is good, its cuz the other players were horrible, whenever i see a BVM doing what you did i either instantly disable him or 1 shot him, if i don't kill him its my skill issue cuz i either miss or had terrible shot placement. Other people seem to panic for no reason when they see any tank and panic shoot anywhere. 1 shot was in the turret cheek which obviously will not pen you 2 shot (which i don't even want to consider since it looks like it was a HEAT round) on the engine bay 3 shot Just killed the gunner probably shoot too high 4 shot (looked like heat again) unlucky guys hits you on the dead commander and knocks out your turret ring Overall bad shot placement(or bad rounds) by the enemy, and the only capable tanks there that you killed that could kill you as well were the M1A2 AIM (with KE-W) and the Leo 2A6 (that was completely oblivious(and represented 90% of NATO teams) Note that: 2 of the tanks destroyed were Squadron tanks, and 1 was a Premium tank, the only actual tech tree tank was the 2A6. Overall i think its a combination of Bad Servers, Bad enemy players, YOU being lucky, and YOU being a good player and knowing how to position using speed

Anyone reading this more horsepower at lower RPMs means that if all other variables are the same, you’re making peak power faster, AKA more torque.
IMO for vehicles like the 2S38 you should lose 3rd person view and gunners optic and get locked into the driverport view

In my opinion the stock grind is worse with kpz since you can only carry 6 atgm. Luckily the dart is only rank 2.

7.5secs is an alright reload speed in my book. unless u want to reload every 10secs with t-62 and t-55s with me
The T-62s are 8.3 - 8.7 and the T-55s are 8.0 - 8.7 not 9.3, they aren't comparable.
