This trashed toy was just screaming for a restoration! The good news was I got it on EBay for only one dollar! The bad news is it was almost unrecognizable as a proper toy. After some research I found the original online and the color scheme was just about as ugly as the rusted version that I had. So I made the decision to perform the restoration as a tribute to some of the coolest sailors I've ever met. We Build, We Fight! Although I'm an Army guy, any soldier that's ever been deployed knows that the first people you make friends with are the SeaBees. If you need something, you can't exactly run to Lowes or Home Depot. You've got to run to the nearest US Navy Construction Battalion!

WAIT FOR IT..... Boom! Sandblasting machine. Guy knows what his audience likes haha
Altona Falcon, I swear I am going to get a sandblaster just so I can sandblaster. I’ll haunt junk yards looking for rusty stuff.
yup
I fucked up and didnt buy a 7400 sand blast cabinet that sold for $475 near me. I really didnt have the money for it. But could have probably sold it for $4000
@@brazillady5119 start your own small business, ive sandblasted truck/car rims for decent money. people bring in all sorts of crap too lol
@Altona Falcon
It's really impossible to do this sort of work without one. They are such useful machines.
Nice! My father was a Seabee in WWII
Marine saying “Never slug a Seabee, he maybe some Marine’s father”
Chris Murphy , my Grandfather was a Seabee. He wasn’t a Marine’s father, but he was the father of a navy man - my father, who also served in WWII. My Grandfather served in WW I and II.
My father was a Seabee in WWII as well!
lmao! Nice one!
I especially like this one as my Dad was in the SeaBees. He was stationed on Saipan. He carved a good sized Sea Bee emblem out of ammunition crates while there. Thanks for sharing this restore. Great job.
As a former construction mechanic in the Seabee’s. I have to say thank you so you’re wonderful work.
A CM, were you stationed in Port Hueneme?
@@jasonsummit1885 I worked at Port Hueneme for 22 years before moving to Oregon.
Yes I was stationed at port Hueneme. NMCB 4. I was also an instructor at the A and C school.
Thanks!! Thanks for serving!
4 does more.....
Fast motion is funny! But seriously, can you imagine how many hours of fun and imagination a child would have had playing with this toy?
Am working on a 1970’s gas turbine hydraulic Tonka right now. It is my first restoration and you are an inspiration.
Me: Where are you finding all these old rusty toys from 40 years ago??
TRG: I found an old time machine and restored it...
I have no words to describe how much I appreciate these videos for not having some awful, royalty free elevator music blasting all over them.
Thanks for watching! What type of video would you like to see next? Tools, Appliances, Industrial Equipment, or More Toys?
@@TRGRESTORATIONS I'm cool with anything, really. But if I was to pick from those.. I'd say toys and/or industrial equipment.
As a Vietnam Veteran and a former Seabee, this brought back many "fond" memories. By the way a while ago I was at the VFW when an Army Vet came up to me and said, "You Seabees were the crazy bastards I ever met." I thanked him for the compliment and bought him a beer.
man if that's all it takes to get a free beer, I'm going to call you crazy every time I see you lol
Impressive restoration but also impressive bit of work that went into making this toy back in the day.
That's so cool. Thank you for doing as a tribute. My brother and his wife are Seabees.
Wow what are seabees
Nvm
@@katiejack7972 seabees are U.S. Navy construction and equipment operator's.
Another very fine restoration! I'm watching the 1944 film "The Fighting Seabees" tonight....especially the part where John Wayne uses the tractor to rip open the fuel tanks at the top of the hill to destroy the enemy. I salute you and your craftsmanship.

As a Navy Vet, I say... "OUTSTANDING !!!"
Likewise!
Thanks! Thanks for serving!
Yeah Senior Chief Boiler technician
Noticing that there's so much talent that goes into doing all this restoration. It's awesome!
Thank you!
Bingo!!!!👍
An evening would not be complete without watching sand blasting. So satisfying. Nice restoration, though.
So true!
That is awesome how you restored that toy US Nave Seabee front-end loader to working order. It looks much better than before. Great work.
I still remember all of the words to the Seabee song. As a former U.S.Navy CM. Awesome job.👍
Thanks for serving!
Construction under difficult conditions. A very tough group.
I loved the sandblasting right along with everyone else. The sound effect reminded me of when I was a kid at the movies and the cartoons started.
Awesome, Thanks for watching!
Many memories of my kid-days. One Armed Forces day my class put on a show to celebrate the military around '55 the 10th anniversary. There is a song for each branch, we (my class) did the actual "C-B" song.
"We're the Sea-Bees of the Navy" The name comes from "Construction Battalion".
As an aside, three of my uncles were Marines in the entire Pacific Theater and one got a Silver Star on Iwo Jima driving a dozer. He wasn't a Sea-Bee just enlisted Marine. What he did was lead a bunch of other Marines up the mountain using the dozer for cover. He dropped the blade and sealed the cave (one of them) that the enemy combatants were in.
All three uncles went through the entire war without harm, two went on to survive Korea.
As a former heavy equipment operator (EO) in the Seabees, 1976 to 1982, I say thank you. That looks awesome and brings up some great memories.
Thanks for serving!
As an ex-Seabee, I enjoyed this video immensely.
Thanks for serving!
US Navy Vet APPROVED! USS KITTY HAWK CV-63 🍻🍻🍻
What other ships did you serve on you look familiar.
Jason's Trike Adventures - That’s it man. One was good enough for me.
Wait for it!!!!
Yaaaaaaay!
Brilliant!
I'm working my way through your playlist & wanted to say thank you for showing us all your entire process!
What a wonderful tribute to the Seabees ! CAN DO !

Beautiful job on a basket case dozer. SeaBees is fitting for that dozer.
Thanks!
Awesome! My Grandpa was a photographer in the Sea Bees in WW2.
Bet he could tell some stories!!
Awesome restoration. You should put a Shipwreck G.I. Joe figure in the drivers seat.👍🤠👌
Nicely done! A fitting tribute to “the Fighting Seabees”!!!
Thanks!
My dad & uncle were Seabees in WWII. Loved this restoration!
Thanks for watching!
Retired Navy here this is awesome. Thanks for the tribute.
Kool seeing different customs. Great job 👍👍👍
Nice tribute to the Navy Seabees.
Thanks!
I absolutely love watching the sand blasting!
Thanks!
My dad was a Seabee (WWII). Great video.

I liked your videos to encourage people to fix things 😎🤟👏
We come for the restoration. We stay for the sandblasting.
I've done that. It's as satisfying as it looks. For the record, I also enjoyed the speed-filling.
Id get into this hobby just for the Sand blasting. Then I would need a powder coating set up.
Crazy that this got recommended to me and I’m a Seabee. Must be all the restoration videos I’ve been watching lately.
Thanks for watching!
From a former Seabee (EO1) thank you for this!

Nicely done and a great tribute to the SeaBees!

I was wondering where this was headed. As always, nothing to worry about. Fantastic build again. All hail the Mighty SeaBees! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Could almost smell the rust on this one. Great transformation!
Man, what a talent, don't ever stop.
Nothing Boring about Navy Grey, but I'm a Navy Vet. Great Job, Nice custom Decals.
Thanks for serving!
And as a former Seabee, I thank you! Great job!
Thanks for serving!
Just goes to show how professional this guy is, by taping his plyer's and tools so they don't scratch the paint...
The Sandman strikes once again and the results are spectacular. A top notch tribute. Well done.
Thanks! Sandman?
My father had great respect for the SeaBees. He watched them build and extend the runways on Saipan, for B29 use before the island was secured. Narragansett Bay

That was great! Loved the added "Wait for it!, cheering!" Perfect LOL!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks! As an Army vet, I approve of this comment.

Thanks!
Brilliant! Go Navy!
Well worth all your effort, fantastic. Loving the videos, thank you.
This is awesome! I just got out of the Navy
Sweet, thanks for serving!
Great job! This is my favorite restoration! It reminds me of my dad who was a Seabee. I wish I had the capabilities to do this. I would like to make one for my son to always remember him.
Straight to the sand blaster and then WHAM powder coat. You are the man!
lol Thanks!
An amazing transformation. Very interesting to watch
Thanks for watching!
Big respect for restorers, who take care of rust pits.
Worth watching.

@@TRGRESTORATIONS Toys and appliances are the most interesting. But anything is good.
Nice job on this resto & the Tribute to The SeaBees is a great touch.
That looks Amazing
SOO KOOOOOLLLL.

Awesome work .
Thanks for watching!
Thanks from this Navy Vet.
It never ceases to amaze me how he takes what looks like nothing left of the metal body and, after the sandblasting, it's clean and pit free. I'm beginning to think TRG has a fountain of youth in his sandblasting machine.
lol its a special kind of sand bought from a wizard.
@@TRGRESTORATIONS Is it the sand from the hourglass from The Wizard Of Oz?
I'm working on one of these right now!
OMG THE SAND BLASTING, INTRO.THE BEST.X
lol everyone's favorite part!
@@TRGRESTORATIONS thanks for getting back to me have a blessed sand blasting life.👏
Never heard of Seabees toys,, Great job 👍🦅🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
Great attention to detail. The small ripples in the gray paint look just like the weld lines in real painted steel. This is an outstanding restoration. Thanks for saving a piece of history.
Thank you very much!
Filling and sanding ultimately ensure a beautiful restoration! TRG you did it again! The addition of a flashing light is definitely the finishing touch.
You adlibbed the blinking light and the color...nice touch.
I am amazed by his skills! And his love for the details!
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Very nice Tim
Now, that looks awesome. Really cool you went that Direction with it. I like it better that way then original. Great job. Great video. Keep them coming.
Thank you!
SEA BEEs. ( Construction Battalion) or CB s.
That Lab Metal is tough stuff. I said the heck with that a long time ago. A good heavy coat of hot flocked KL primer does great and is 100x easier to sand...Excellent job. I enjoyed your video.
Thanks, might give it a try!
Outstanding work and detail . From a USMC vet
Nostalgic toy 😔. Beautiful job, thanks.
Thank you too!
Very nice customrestoration. I like the military theme! The decal in the shovel maybe where better placed near the topedge of the backwall. So it was better protected from the gravel that will be transported in.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful!
Great restauration job.
Amen friend! I'm a retired Seabee and I loved the tribute! Keep up the good work!

@@TRGRESTORATIONS I like the toy restorations best, though old tooling is interesting too
Great Job @TRG RESTORATION
I have a bunch of these old toys. I think i have 2 of these he just restored. Loved playing with them 50 years ago lol
Cool! Thanks for watching!
Ick! What a mess! I was afraid your thumb would go through the top, it looked too thin. What a magnificent restoration! Beautifully done!
Gentlemen we can rebuild it. We have the technology. It will be the world's 1st bionic toy. Better than it was before... Better, Stronger, Faster!!!!
Stunning result. Thanks for sharing.
I love your videos
Keep marking them
Thank you! Will do!
One of the first I've seen save so much time by going straight for the sand blaster. Good job!
Yeah I don't quite understand why you put it in rust remover, strip all the paint off, THEN throw it in the sand blaster. WHOOOOOO
Some people will remove as much as they can to keep the paint from getting mixed in with their blast media. It makes it last a bit longer and will save money in the long run, but to me it's not worth the extra effort.
That looks pretty cool, i am a retired BU1 and my brother is a retired EO1.
