- Planning your retirement abroad? 🏖️ Look no further! In this comprehensive overview, we'll delve into the factors that matter most when choosing between retiring in Panama and Mexico. Your well-being is our priority, and we're here to guide you every step of the way.
🤝 Language and Culture: Finding Your Comfort Zone
Language and culture are integral to your expat experience. In Panama, both Spanish and English are prevalent, easing your transition, especially in urban centers and business hubs. In contrast, Mexico, while rich in cultural heritage, may present a language barrier for some. Embrace vibrant traditions in Mexico or the language familiarity of Panama-it's all about what resonates with you.
Safety and Security: Peace of Mind Matters
Feeling secure in your new home is paramount. Panama is renowned for its safety record, boasting low crime rates across many areas. In Mexico, safety varies by region, necessitating thorough research. Adhering to local guidelines and exercising common sense contributes to your safety in either country.
📢 Tax and Financial Considerations: Navigating the Landscape
Panama and Mexico each offer enticing tax incentives for retirees and investors. In Panama, there's no tax on foreign income, making it an alluring choice for financial freedom. Mexico provides tax benefits, including the Retiree Discount Card.
Residency: Making Your New Home Official
🌴The residency application process is key to a seamless transition. Panama's Friendly Nations Visa and Pensionado Visa cater to specific needs. Mexico's journey starts with the Temporary Residency Visa, leading to Permanent Residency. Legal at Work has the expertise to guide you through both countries' immigration processes, ensuring a smooth relocation.
📋 Understanding the residency application process is vital for a smooth transition. In Panama, the Friendly Nations Visa is popular among expats from specific countries, while the Pensionado Visa appeals to retirees. Mexico's Temporary Residency Visa is often the starting point for expats, leading to the Permanent Residency Visa.
💼 Legal at Work has extensive experience guiding clients through both countries' immigration processes, ensuring a seamless transition to your new home. It's worth noting that Panama's pension visa grants residency for life, while Mexico’s temporary residency visa only grants residency for two years and requires renewal.

Great information
Thank you so much for your feedback!
There are way more things to consider in moving to a country besides what was discussed in this video. I have lived in the interior of Panama for 8 years. Most dont last 4 years unless were stuck in the interior like me. Definitely stay out of foreigner areas, and crime areas, and rural areas where people dont work.
Lots of good info here.
Where is the comparison ???
Sorry if the comparison was not clear. I will create a side by side checklist comparison on our website and share the link for you.

American Retierees move move to mexico the rest of the world panama
I think there is a more diverse group of retirees and professionals in Panama. Lots of Europeans, Canadians and global expats in Panama for sure.
Your sound quality is not as good as the other videos. And might be your skills in legal same thing.
Thank you for your feedback! This helps us improve.
Very broad general overview. Read like a sales brochure. So many questions but not many answers. Interesting to see if there is more on this channel with in-depth information.
Thank you for your comment! Please let us know what questions and things you would like us to explore more in-depth.

There is no way the cost of living is lower in Panama over Mexico. I lived in Panama is expensive and the quality of housing is really bad. Mexico’s rent is so much lower and constructions are better quality, in general. I refer to normal middle class properties, of course if you can afford mansions then the cost of living doesn’t even matter.
What this guy say it's not true!! Is a liar!!
I agree with him, Mexico is better
