Everyone starting a lawn care business takes their lumps. They low bid everything and take bi-weeklys until they get burnt out. Eventually you stand firm on pricing and the sustainable clients rise to the top.
Been doing this since 1983. I’m 55 now and it’s always been a good business to get into. Now just a side hustle for me. Harder getting into it now - so many small guys. But …. Everyone can make money in this business and I’ve never given a newbie any shit. We were all new to this once. Give a guy/girl a chance. Looks great my man doing good work gets you a good name and reputation and that IS the business.
That’s awesome, tbh it doesn’t matter if you’re quick or you break down everything you do lol people love to complain either way. Just go with your own flow and you will get an audience that likes what you do. Thanks man I appreciate the sub!
I low yard too. But I hate when people pay me up front even if is $10 extra for some reason, I don’t like to owe people money. It doesn’t let me sleep.
It would be even more helpful next time you do this tell us how long it took you to do each job. I know you said 10 hours for the whole thing but so literally less than an hour per job average, but it would help to know exactly.
This season in an effort to discourage biweekly I made my biweekly price 50% higher than weekly for example, if my weekly price is 100 my biweekly would be 150. I think I’m going to eliminate biweekly altogether next year like you.
Sir, I’m thinking about doing what you do and your video inspired me. As a new person into the business, I’d appreciate your tips and tricks for someone just starting :)
I think you could be getting more than $50 on your yards, my area is super saturated and I am still part time but I have a $65 minimum. I still manage to close about 30 percent of the quotes I give for mowing.
Mm i remember a couple of years ago I was looking for someone to mow my lawn, is almost an acre, he told me was gonna be $100, and i just needed mowed, i was gonna take care of the trimming, and i asked bi-weekly ? He got pissed
A lot of companies don’t do bi-weekly mowing. For me it’s okay this year cause I don’t have that many clients. But next year I won’t be offering the service. 100$ for an acre is good money. Wouldn’t take me but maybe 15 mins
I did a first time client way too cheap, i am actually regretting. The first cut was long enough took me way longer than expected and have a bunch of yard light fixtures that need to remove before edging. Do you charge extra for moving yard decorating in order to get the job done? I was not expecting this till i showed up to mow.
No way your doing all those big giant yards that fast! You must not be string trimming! Also alot of those yards are 100 dollars minimum. No way they are 50 dollar yards.
@@Browns4life So I don’t know you bud but where I’m from and the way I leave lawns, they don’t look like shit when I pull out. You wind up double or triple cutting and if that don’t take longer then I don’t know what to tell ya

All facts here. my first year doing it I was letting ppl walk all over me just because I wanted the work and the experience to grow bigger. it worked.
Exactly.

And for the haters, no it did not make my schedule drop drastically or anything. I had to shut off taking on new clients in April.
Bi-weekly just doesn’t help much. But if the price is right do it.

Not every yard is easy, you will figure out pricing soon enough. Just keep at it. I use to be cheap but I’m getting better with time.
