You guys keep taking all the rain... I think maybe 5 of our lawns in GR have any decent growth weekly. Nobody is fertilizing or irrigating this year. Not to mention ISPs laying fiber and flagging out every neighborhood. Non-stop construction.. I'm so over this summer, it hasn't been satisfying to mow 90% of our lawns since May. I'm pumped for leaf cleanups. We finally got a dedicated leaf vacuum I think it's gonna be a game changer. We're getting one of those bed rollers too, I hope it works well.
Bro I felt everything you just said, I’ve picked up more flags than sticks this year and it’s annoying. I am right on Lake Michigan so we do get spotted rain pretty often, crazy that there not watering in gr I figured they would. I’m stoked to finally buy the bed roller definitely gonna help speed things up. Leaf cleans up are where the money is. I missed out last year cause a took a stupid 9-5 job and passed up like 30k in leaves I was being dumb lol
Also, do not buy the Scag Windstorm or any of those stand-on units until you are way more established in the leaf business. The billygoat loader and setup makes total sense and is affordable for what it pays back. The windstorm is crazy expensive even used and gets used maybe 2 months (and even then maybe for a couple yards).
Okay that’s a good way to look at it. No point in dropping 10k on a blower when I can just spend an extra 20 mins with the backpack. Smart choice… see this is why I ask you guys haha thanks man
what happen to the base ball fields?
They never called me back lol so I’m guessing they went another direction
@@briandewolfe22 pretty common to here that ! Lol
@@briandewolfe22 That is a scam. You did all that work for a reduced price because they said you would get the contract and have advertising. Looking back it didn't make any sense what they were saying about how they had tons of teams playing there, the fields were a mess and it was summertime which is when teams are playing ball.

Great video brother, I’m in Phoenix AZ and the weather here is 110 to 113 and humid
Thank you! Man that’s a different kind of hot 🥵 😂
If you’re having to feather your FS 94r to keep it running you need to adjust the valve clearance. Pretty straight forward and easy to accomplish. Ask dealer for the valve adjustment kit. Comes with a replacement seal as well as the feeler gauge. 👍
You are correct, and I did figure it out after this video lol it runs great now
For that air flow problem of yours get a hole saw and punch some vent holes in the front of the trailer
I’ve had a few people tell me this, good idea I’m sure
Great video, thanks for posting. Did you ever end up taking that other job from a few weeks ago to work in the fall? Also hope your wife was able to find a new gig as well!👍
No I decided not to take it and just focus on the lawn care. She’s still looking but fingers crossed she finds something before the season is up, I got money put away to keep us going for now. Thank you
@@briandewolfe22 Got ya, maybe put some renewed focus on getting leaf clean up jobs this fall. And if your wife is capable she could help out and increase revenue. That's how Spencer Lawn care started out.
Brand new hustler pro is 4900$ for the 34” my best friend got 2 of them great stand ons
Ohhhhhh I want one! Thank you I do like hustler
You must mow some big properties
Well I use to lol but not anymore.
The stander zk is an absolute beast....now you gotta try the stander wright LG if you like the zk then demo a LG
I hate how they took the gas tank down to 12gallons that sucks. Looks like a good mower tho from what I seen and heard
I was going to buy the Milwaukee trimmer until I read if you take the guard off it will overheat. I've had 2 Stihl trimmers, FS80 and FS85. Too hard to start when hot. I run Echo SRM230's. One of them is 17 years old and the other I just got this year on Marketplace for $90 Canadian and it was a homeowner because the guard was still on. Give one a try, they're great.
I would say go gas if you have lots of property to take care of.
Don’t incentive your customers be bi-weekly clients, they are most of the time the worst clients on the market
I’ve noticed this to be true also.
How did you market your business? Door hanger? Fb market? Word of mouth?
Mostly good and local buyers guide. I don’t use fb
you said no battery power but do you still like the pole saw?
The equipment works great just not the best option when you have multiple yards to do in one day.
Hey man what kind of paint is that on your trailer walls? Looking to do something similar, nice video man!
It’s that’s really thick deck paint from Lowes. It’s like 6x thicker than other paints. I’ve had it on there 3 years now with no issues
So are you going to work for that other company full time now and just run your lawn care business on nights and weekends?
I'm not sure yet, I'll know more Thursday after my interview, but if they want to hire me then all mow weekends.
I was looking at 48 ferris stand on but got a 52 sit on ferris wanting to get into doing lawns but bought for personal use now.
That’s awesome keep it up.
I’m looking to start my own business. Is there a good time to decide to go into business and a bad time? I do plan on offering “off season” services so I’d be able to work year round. My worst nightmare would be that I promote all over the local Facebook groups and spend my time off work going around hanging flyers just for nobody to want my business and then I get discouraged and not do it. Reason being is that where I’m from we’ve been very dry and as of now my winter services obviously won’t be needed
Best advice I could give you is start advertising heavy in February-April use Facebook, Google, local buyers guide. Also ask family and friends. When I first started I didn’t have much money to start and my first season was slow but I picked up 30 clients my 2nd season. But I didn’t start until June so that hurt me bad, most people look for services in the spring.
I found hedge trimming works quite good during the winter.
Haha not in the snow for me.
I’ve heard that hanging Christmas lights on houses is a decent way to supplement income in the winter, not sure if it would keep you busy all winter but definitely a way to make some extra money
Awesome idea! I heard of ppl doing that and making good money. I’ll look into it.
Good video man I’m glad you going back to the tips and tricks type videos!
Thank you! Glad to be back
He setup is the most important for a route. I been doing lawn care for a little bit 4 years and I grew a lot from when I started with a 15 year old 32 inch billy goat mower a old half rotted Honda mower and a ryobi trimmer. Now have 2 36 inch commercial mowers brand new toro 22 and several commercial trimmers and edges but there are still things I do better. For starters my enclosed trailer does not have a ramp door so I need to carry ramps to get my bradley in and out. Not a big deal but it does take a solid minute to put up and collapse EVERY SINGLE JOB!!! Lol (annoying) then most importantly my setup is walk behind everything. I can get a sulky for my bradley just have not yet lots of other things on list but thats the big one. Walking 10 properties is harsh. Riding 10 properties is much preferable I myself am capped out at 6 to 7 a day solo. But my properties are larger not tiny houses that can use a 22 inch mower. Personaly I would love to get a 36 inch stand on mower that would change so much for me and allow me to do 10 to 15 properties a day.
Why don’t you sell all your mowers and buy a stand on mower lol
@@briandewolfe22 because I need a back up a stand on is great but if it breaks down with no backup im screwed lo.
@@fusionmechanic1 ahhhh I see, how much would you say all your mowers are worth?
@@briandewolfe22 I would say together probably about 6k you know how it is. Both are Bradley 36s but you know how it what they worth and what you will get are 2 different things. It’s all good I’m getting buy alright. In time I will finally make the jump. 😝

Sucks to hear about your wife losing her job. It’s tough out there some days but it’s darkest before dawn. I work 2 jobs, one being in retail and the other being lawn care. What do you do to get more accounts/customers? I have success with cards and signs on my truck but don’t know if it would be useful for a website.
I get about 90% from Google, the others come from the buyers guide, and word of mouth
Man I always see other lawn care guys with no face coverings on. I always get covered with dirt and grass and crap lol. Edit: I’ve been mowing must yards down to 3.00- 3.50 in the mid Florida area.
