  • To celebrate the re-opening of our wonderful Camellia House in March 2024, we're re-releasing some of our back catalogue of videos that help to give context to this amazing place.
In this video, filmed in 2022, we take a look at the history of the Camellia House and we begin to outline our plans to secure its future. We've come a long way since then, and we can't wait to welcome our first visitors into this newly regenerated place.
It's the first time that the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust has taken a structure on the site and given it a completely new use. We're incredibly proud of what our amazing contractor teams, staff and volunteers have accomplished.
This video contains reference to Ralph Tunnicliffe as the designer of the original Camellia House tea room. To date, Wentworth Woodhouse’s research team has not found evidence to corroborate this in the archival record. If you have any historical information that could support the team’s investigative work, please contact collections@wentworthwoodhouse.org.uk

Thank you, we're just as excited to see the Camellia House back too! It's a vital piece of our history and seeing how the extensive work has paid off and transformed the beautiful building brings us such joy!

Lovely to see the little fountain full blast in the old photo (2:23) surrounded by the little border with the ornamental trees. Notice the drive is gone now too, which changes things a bit.

Nice video. Do you know of a local artist William Vickers, or Bill Vickers to me, he was a personal friend and he painted scenes at Wentworth Woodhouse of which I have one but I don’t know which building it is, anyway it’s quite nice. Thanks wentworth woodhouse.

Thank you! If you can send us a description of the painting, we'll try to identify which building it is. It might be a structure in the gardens or possibly, one of the follies that are found across the wider estate.

What the heck is with your continuity. We have seen the restoration of the Camelia house already.

There's nothing wrong with the continuity. The video description says that this is a re-release of an older video (it's one of four), to help give context to the Camellia House which has it's official re-opening event shortly. The channel has grown since these videos were originally released and we felt that it was an appropriate moment to take another look at a few older videos. This particular one also includes some of the history of the building, which the restoration videos don't cover. Apologies if we've caused any confusion by doing this.

@@OfficialWentworthWoodhouse The issue is it looks like a puff piece. Rehashing old video looks lazy. If people are unable to view your previous Camelia House videos then thats on them,. Link them when you release the video on the opening. New content that shows progress will grow your channel. This missed the mark IMHO. Wont stop me loving your channel but not all comments have to be fluffy.
