- I made this video back in 2016, to help newcomers to sourdough breadmaking. This is an easy, straightforward sourdough bread recipe and method that is great for working into a busy midweek schedule, and requires very little preparation or clean up. You don't even need to get your hands floury! (unless you want to of course). I make many kinds of sourdough breads (and these days mostly 100% whole grain sourdough loaves) but this was the easy method I used for many years, especially when I was busy and needed to get my bread made!

*I bake this loaf in a ceramic casserole pot, roaster, dutch oven or bread pan inside a large roaster. As long as your baking vessel has a well-fitting lid and is oven safe - you can use it! Check out this video for some good alternative baking setup options • Home Bread Baking Setu...
• 2 cups plain/all purpose/bread flour
• 1 cup whole wheat flour
• ½ to 1 cup starter (mine is a plain wheat starter)
• About 1 and 1/4 cups of water
• 1 ½ teaspoons sea salt
• I also often add a few tablespoons of seeds of various descriptions: LSA (linseed/flax, sunflower and almond meal), sesame seeds, pepitas, walnuts or ground flax etc for more nutrition and interest.

Just add Oven temperature and timing please if possible?
What size quart is your Dutch oven? Great video. I have a 3 quart and just wondering if I’ll have to change up measurements for it.
Awesome 👍
It is incredible that you just throw these ingredients together You don't care about cold you don't care about wet You don't care about mixtures ratios or even what you put in it and the bread still comes out fantastic so what am I doing wrong The sourdough just doesn't like me
Oh my Elly
Beautiful! Thank you for making this video. I'll try your method as soon as my starter is strong enough to make bread. ❤
Very practical, Elly. And great results thank you for the video.
Hi Ellie, can I ask more info on your starter. How long do you leave it in fridge between bakes? Weekly? Daily? Do you feed it at all? And when you use it, do you use straight from fridge or go you bring it to room temperature? Do you do anything to prep it? Or just out if the fridge and into your bowl?
LOUD APPLAUSE.... Is coming to you all the way from Northern California!!! When you see the lightening bolt the sound will be close behind..! Elly dear you have swung the bat, and the ball has easily cleared the fence and is headed for the parking lot! ✍)))
Thanks! Cheers Elly..
