There are ways of killing bamboo with vinegar. This is better, yet still not living with nature. Vinegar increases soil acidity and reduces use after application.
Many are killing bamboo with salt. That works; then again, it changes the natural habitat to be damaging for a large number of plants. What if there was a better way to control bamboo?
My argument is that bamboo ought to be your friend. With proper management, you can limit bamboo growth. Plus, get a valuable product and make bamboo work for you.

The problem with oriental bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) is it girdles trees and grows so quickly. It can spread by the berries and cuttings.
This method takes time, but improves the land:
- Cut vine, leaving it to dry in the trees.
- Cut new growth early before berry forms.
- Dig out and dry roots when possible.

Livestock pressure, a combination of goats and pigs will destroy it. But you still need to cut to reduce berries which are spread by birds.
