Thanks for your reaction.
The choir is all Simone. ( and John Jaycee for the male vocals)
Rob van der Loo on bass.
Thanks for watching and the info! The choir made this such an epic masterpiece!
It's all about poetry...I definitely embrace your quote. You'll find out soon. Cheers from Greece!
Yes, it is and thank you! Cheers from NY! đ€â€ïžđ€
It said right below Arjen writing the music that the lyrics are written by Simone herself and Lori Linstruth who is Arjens partner and she is/ was also a guitarist, lyricist and I believe manager
Yes, I guess I jumped over that part since I did read the credits. Oops! But thanks for pointing it out! đ€â€ïžđ€
Very cool song. Definitely looking forward to this album coming out.
Seen a few interviews with Arjen lately, this album was 1 of 3 projects he was working on at the same time. The other 2 are the DVD of the live Ayreon show from last fall. And Lucassen & Soeterboek's Plan Nine , The Long Lost Songs album. Arjen and Robert Soeterbroek started working on songs together 30 years ago, they recently decided to finish them. Just got both of those in the mail, the DVD ,signed by Arjen, and the Plan Nine CD ,signed by Arjen and Robert.
If I got your interest, a couple Plan Nine songs to try: "Before the Morning Comes" and "Ice On Fire".
Well Chris, you sold me. I've started a Plan Nine card and wrote down your recommendations. I'll give you a shout out when I check out the first! Thanks again, my friend!
This song knocks it out of the ball park. I think Simone Simons was very smart not to stray too far from her roots.
It's such an epic song on such a grand scale. â€ïžâ€ïž
She will stray a bit in other tracks though đ
You may enjoy some tracks from Transitus (Ayreon 2020); while waiting for the Album czcams.com/video/ozmTXh2CBWw/video.html
Ayreon - Danielâs Descent into Transitus Medley (Official Video) featuring Simone Simons, Tommy Karevik, Marcella Bovio and Caroline Westendorp
Thank you, my friend! I appreciate the link, too! I don't know if you know this, but I've been going through Ayreons' The Source one song at a time from start to finish. I plan on doing all the albums in order since they are stories. Big big fan of Ayreon! đ€â€ïžđ€
Tommy and Simone are the best duo.
Such an incredible debut from Simone, and SO hugely anticipated! When she started teasing a new project on Instagram I hardly dared to dream it would actually be a solo album. And Aeterna sounds SO epic! Arjen and Simone did a live together right after the release and described it as a song to âmarryâ Epica and Ayreonâs fans. Itâs so dramatic and atmospheric, I can almost picture it being the song in a trailer for a Disney space musical. It completely sets the stage for the album.
Absolutely LOVE the epic choir element too-dunno if you caught it, but itâs all just Simone and John Jayceeâs layered vocals.
There will be another single coming out before the full album release, and itâs their favorite song on the album, but they didnât reveal which one it is. They also said there are some secret special guests beyond those currently listed-including a cello player, so maybe weâll be getting an Apocalyptica feature??
Yeah, what isn't epic about this! Later that night I watched it on the big screen through the surround with the bass kicked up and all the lights off and just- WOW! Better than a lot of movies. So visually breathtaking coupled with her amazing voice and the choir of Simones and John's voices. Just pure magic! Arjen and Simone create such glorious art!
Apocalyptica? Possibly. Could even be someone like Tina Guo! Regardless, I certainly can't wait for that to drop! đ€â€ïžđ€
One week until new Nightwish!đ€đž
YESSSSSSSSS!!!! đ€â€ïžđ€
Outstanding! This is pure Simone at her best! The vocals are astounding and the music is complex and heavy. I also like the scale that it is written in - yes, definitely Middle-Eastern. I absolutely love the visuals. Anything associated with astronomy turns my head!
I do very much love astronomy as well, Mossy. In fact, Nancy told me there is a live stream on CZcams of Betelgeuse about to go supernova. Here's the link:

Yes! What a masterpiece! I read they will be dropping another single ahead of the album release which means I'll be right on top of that.
@@BemusingBill Thanks! Seems like we have quite a bit in common! I'm afraid that livestream might be up indefinitely. Betelgeuse's supernova event is still quite a ways off. I doubt that it will happen in my lifetime.

Surely a great opener, and first release, this sets the exitment for this album, dosent it.. idk who wrote the lyrics actually, but im pretty sure Simone was over it..
This is kind of rooted to where Simone come from with Epica, but with Ayreon influece on the music parts.. im not sure, actially im not sure at all, but i somehow connect some parts to how the sound was on the Ayreon album Trasitus, but i might confuse something up here, since its been a long time since i heard that album..
Yeah, incredible opener! They make a great team, Simone and Arjen. I can't wait for more. đ€â€ïžđ€
with the choir in the background i had also to think of Lost Children Of The Universe by Star One
I'm not familiar with that one. But now I am very interested. Thank you, buddy! đ€â€ïžđ€
It's already mentioned but has more than a similarity to Arjen's Transitus. Less than 5 notes and it had to be Arjen and he managed to reduce the operatic singing.
There is so much of Arjen's work I haven't experienced since I'm journeying through The Source currently. But If I didn't know this was Arjen I think I would have guessed pretty quickly. Such a signature sound to it! He's a brilliant composer. And she's an amazing singer!
While this album is coming out, EpicaÂŽs new record is also in production as we speak! đ
Wow! So cool! New Marko & Tarja, new Nightwish, new Simone solo and now, new Epica!!! This is going to be a great year for metal! đ€â€ïžđ€
