    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  Před 10 měsíci

      Unfortunately, the only way to fix iron marks is to put a new patch on. ABUs don't need to be ironed, unlike BDUs, so an alternative is to get another blouse if there is one available. Maybe you could look into redesigning your unit patch to be in regs!

      Yes, it is normal. If the unit gave your cadet the C/Amn insignia, then it gets exchanged with the C/A1C. This allows for the unit to reuse them between cadets. If you would like to keep the insignia, then it would be purchased off Vanguard.

    Hi Redberryweo, your videos are great, thanks! I read that certain uniforms require members to adhere to weight and grooming standards. I have small holes in my earlobes (back in the day I stretched my earlobes because I was young and stupid) where light can be seen. Am I correct in assuming I should not be wearing certain uniforms like the ABU, service dress uniform, etc?

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  Před 3 lety +2

      Thank you!
      To answer your question, that is unfortunately correct. Since CAP abides by the USAF standards for wearing their ABU and AF Blues uniforms, you would not be authorized to wear USAF-style uniforms, including service dress, ABU, etc. You would be allowed to wear corporate uniforms! Alternatively, if you had a great desire to wear USAF-style uniforms, you could look into options to close the holes where light cannot shine through.
      Have you joined CAP, or are you looking at potentially joining?

    Your videos are a wealth of information…THANK YOU! I want your opinion on ABU boots…CAPR39-1 says, “
    6.4.1.3. Dress Boot. Can be worn with the Service Dress and Service uniforms. If worn, the dress boot sole will be black plain rounded toe or rounded capped toe. A zipper or elastic inserts may be worn; however, if worn they will be without design. The sole will not exceed 1⁄2 inch in thickness and heel will not exceed 1-inch in height (measured from the inside front of the heel). High-gloss or patent finish is optional.
    6.4.1.4. Boots. Black combat boots will be without design and can be worn with the Service Dress and Service uniforms. They will be highly polished, high gloss or patent leather.”
    My question…..gloss or not???? That last line in 6.4.1.3 is confusing.

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  Před rokem +1

      When it is said in the video that combat boots do not need to be shined when worn
      Hello! The main difference is DRESS boots versus wearing boots with a utility uniform. If you are wearing boots with the USAF-style blues, they are required to be shined or have a high-gloss finish. 6.4.1.4 just elaborates that boots worn with service dress have to be polished.
      When wearing boots with the ABU uniform, take a look at 6.4.3, which does not explicitly state polish is required. Here's the direct quote from CAPR 39-1:
      6.4.3. Footwear (males/females) Combat boots. Will be worn with the ABU, BDU, or the flight duty uniform. Black, with or without safety toe, plain rounded toe or rounded capped toe with or without perforated seam. Zipper or elastic inserts optional, mesh inserts (for “jungle boot” style) are optional; smooth or scotch-grained leather or man-made material, and may have a high gloss or patent finish. The black combat boot can be worn (optional) with the service dress and service uniforms when not wearing a skirt, maternity service dress and/or maternity jumper. Laces will either be tied and tucked in the boot or tied and wrapped around the boot. No bowtie bootlaces will be visible. Any logos will be the same color as the boot.

      In CAPR 39-1, it outlines specific items to be worn for safe operations, which includes web belts and canteens of conservative color. Please see the direct quotation below for the specific guidance from CAPNHQ! Hope this helps.
      9.5. Wear of Items Required for Emergency Services or Safe Operations. Items required to be worn by the various Task Guides as published by NHQ/DO are authorized to be worn with the USAF-style and Corporate-style utility and flight uniforms. These items will generally be colored black, brown, olive drab green, tan, camouflage or other conservative colors unless specifically required to be high visibility and will be conservative in appearance. Commanders will ensure that these items meet the requirements of the NHQ/DO published task training guide and are limited for wear to those situations that operational or training activities make them a requirement for successful mission accomplishment. Commanders will use discretion in authorizing wear of these items with dress uniforms. These items include:
      - 9.5.1. Safety vest or safety apparel worn in accordance with instructions found in CAPR 62-1, CAP Safety Program, and emergency services task guides.
      - 9.5.2. “Camelback” or canteen water containers.
      - 9.5.3. Poncho or other raingear.
      - 9.5.4. Web belts, load bearing equipment, rescue vests, and other 24 hours gear as noted in emergency services task guides.

    Question about ABU. It says in the uniform guide, and I quote, “one full color, wing/region/national patch may be worn on the left shoulder”.
    Does that mean that that’s the only patch you can where there, or that that’s the only place you can where that patch.

      Services Patch as authorized by CAPR 35-6, Operations Ratings, Awards, and Badges, may be sewn to the shirt ½ inch above the nametape over the right pocket. If the CAP Command Insignia is worn, the CAP Emergency Services Patch will be sewn ½ inch above that patch.

      I enjoyed the video, thanks very much.
      With apologies, I do have a clarification on CAPR 39-1. You quote 5.1.2.3.8, subsection of 5.1.2., which is specifically for the wear of the BDU uniform. Requirements for the ABU are in 5.1.1. Specifically, 5.1.1.1.2.3 lists the ES patch as an exception to authorized (optional) patches (not to be worn).
      5.1.1.1.2.3 Breast Pocket (optional). One full color patch authorized in
      Attachment 4, with the exception of the Emergency Services Patch and Ranger tabs, may be sewn to the
      shirt centered on the lower portion of the breast pocket(s) between left and right edges and bottom of flap and pocket of ABU shirt, using the column currently authorized for the BDU. These patches are optional for wear.

    Patrol Cap's too loose. It should be too tight before forming the brim and then after it should fit snugly enough to not move too much. It should take a conscience effort to take it off, and you'd never really get used to the feeling of it of you're head. Unless that's just the Army. Don't know how you new generation kids do it in the Air Force

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  Před rokem +1

      I used to have a super tight cover, and it cut off circulation to the top of my head and left a dark red line across my forehead. Personally, I prefer this one, which isn't too tight or too loose to comfortably conduct activities outside while wearing it. From discussions I've had with friends who are currently active duty, they don't have super duper tight covers anymore and are supposed to be snug but not too tight. When they were issued something too tight, they just bought a size or two bigger.

      It depends. Some squadrons will give members uniforms to wear if they have obtained them from an Air Force base thrift store, but they are typically used uniforms in those instances.
