      @Sardonicus completely agree , it's heartbreaking her situation. Also even when the author tries to make everyone else less likeable to make the protegonists seem less bland, sooo many other characters had way more interesting story lines that were completely wasted.

      @Sardonicus I recently reread the books and her story makes me more sad each time. She also liked spending time with Jake because she knew EXACTLY how he felt. He was as miserable as she was and they bonded over it. But jk, Jake imprints and Leah is left here alone. Like maybe we're supposed to assume she moves on or whatever, but I would've liked to see one concrete example of her life not sucking.

      Meamwhile he can have dealt with his feelings for Bella by finding joy in taking care and protecting sb and loving sb unconditionally but in a friendship kind of way or a brotherly way.

The obsessive behaviour was nasty. At least with Edward and Bella, the obsession went both ways and they were the same age, relatively. This is actually an argument that has been used by homophobes against real life gay people, so the optics of you responding to me, a gay man, with that line of logic, are pretty bad. Just because we want to have sex to reproduce doesn't mean everyone's brain is hardwired to have reproductive sex. And this line of logic is entirely cissexist when you realize that there ARE gay couples who can reproduce offspring- trans male gay men are still gay men, trans female lesbians are still lesbians. There is never a good internal excuse for a fictional population of humans or near-humans to have entirely homogeneous sexuality.
      And on your last point, it would be seriously homophobic to have a gay werewolf imprint on someone of an opposite gender. That's one hair's width line from conversion therapy and since imprinting is framed as this ~beautiful~ end-all-be-all thing for werewolves it would heavily imply that heterosexuality is inherently better than homosexuality.

    Meyer's pro-life message is quite clear in this. Leah felt like less of a woman for being unable to have kids after turning into a wolf and Jacob (Meyer) basically confirmed this by agreeing with her. Rose was obsessed with Chuckesmee because she herself didn't have the chance to have children as a human. And Bella sacrificing her life for her baby, even if it meant an extremely painful death, is seen as heroic which is probably why Meyer made it as gory as possible. Abortion is immediately looked down on as an option even though Bella didn't really care about having kids (she was ready to sacrifice her human life to be with Edward) and they knew the baby would probably kill her.
    Basically, Meyer to her impressionable YA audience: "If you have an abortion to save your own life, if you are infertile, or don't want children, you are less of a woman" 😡

    • @kassiani_626
      @kassiani_626 Před 2 lety

      I 100% disagree. Just because someone says that they regret not being able to have children before they were made vampire or they regret that being werewolf makes them potentially infertile... does not mean they are less of a woman. And it is perfectly reasonable and understandable that a woman would feel regret over this. Abortion IS murder... and it IS wrong. Our culture's obsession with the self and what's most convenient for us is evil. Bella didn't want to kill her baby not because she'd had some intense desire to be a mother before hand, but that once that baby was conceived she recognized it as a part of her, and a part of Edward and that it would be evil to kill her because she wasn't expected or planned.

I'm afraid the details are foggy for me, but I think they had a bunch of spin off stories made into short films by various people. Alice's backstory is one of the films, and I think another one includes how she met Jasper. I haven't seen them, however, just read about it on Wikipedia. Also, I believe the actors are all different. So yeah, hope that helps.

    I kind of hate to say this, but Breaking Dawn is Pro-Choice. Stephanie Meyer meant for it to be Pro-Life, especially with her being Mormon, but it isn't. It is Pro-Choice.
    I say this because Pro-Choice is about choice. Everyone (except Rosalie) is trying to take Bella's choice away from her. Being Pro-Choice isn't being Pro-Abortion, it's about giving the one carrying the fetus the choice of what they want to do. Bella is making the choice in keeping the fetus that is killing her, and everyone is trying to take that choice away from her. They're trying to take her bodily autonomy away from her.

      @@autumnox2174 lol no. when people say they are pro-abortion, they mean they are pro-choice, no one will force you to abort if you don’t want too, they want you to have they correct tools, systems and methods to do so when you choice to do it. at least, i have never known a single pro-abortion (pro-choice) forcing someone to abort, as I have seen pro-life forcing women to have children (which happen a lot, and with the intend to make you feel guilty for deciding over your own body and life).

    • @sere_amarilla
      @sere_amarilla Před 3 lety +17

      @@yessica5231 Maybe the misunderstanding is in that you may come from a country where abortion is legal and has no conditions attached. That’s why in my country and neighbors countries pro-abortion is equal to pro-choice, because we are still advocating to have a choice in the matter and over our own bodies, since most of these countries literally push you to keep the pregnancy and you don’t have the support of the state to choose a safe way to abort.
      though, either way, when you are pro-life you are against abortion, so you are no letting the other to have a choice, but when you are pro-abortion you care about the safety of the other person through the abortion process.
      In twilight, both sides were extremely represented, Rosalie really just wanted the baby, and she happened to be lucky enough to have Bella with the idea to keep the pregnancy, otherwise she would be trying to convince bella to keep the pregnancy going, and the others thought the fetus was a monster until it developed to become a super baby with communication abilities to know she (renés de) was human. None of them really care about Bella’s choice, they just care about what was inside of her and she, as I said, was lucky enough to have a woman that really REALLY wanted a baby at all cost (rosalie). I think the Cullens are pro-life all the way, they just freaked up because they thought renesmee was a monster.

    Kate's electric shock is actually a mental illusion, just like Jane's ability to induce burning pain. They are psychic powers exercised directly over the subject's mind/perception. These are the kinds of powers that Bella's shield can block. Jasper's mood control affects the nervous system rather then the brain, and Alice's visions don't directly affect the mind, which is why *those* powers work on Bella. The movies didn't bother making this distinction clear, which is probably where the confusion lies.
