The man that assassinated Dr.Martin Luther King,Jr. was probably a man that practice injustice anywhere he went by being Hateful and Racist... He knew, threaten and killed MLK that was for justice EVERYWHERE.
I'm white, the system benefits me. I, by any means, have no material reason to give care about others who the system oppresses, even if I "pretend". Instead, I have a moral conviction, inspired by men like MLK to take action in both my personal and public lives. From a rational perspective, King is right: If my black and brown brothers and sisters are threatened, than are my rights threatened? Am I "next?" Not necessarily, but it is the principle. No one is free if some are not. So free them.
MLK always knew "Life is Interrelated". Had the verdict on Climate been in during his time, he would have been including and integrating that into his insights. This is perhaps an insight whose time has come for the church to stand up strong for the message. "ALL life is interrelated" ALL life. Creation Theology needs to become FAR FAR more intentional, urgent, and unmistakable.
