  • Looking for the best kid's phone on the market? The Bark Phone has you covered. In this video, Bark CMO Titania Jordan sits down with CTO Brandon Hilkert to talk about why the Bark Phone is a safer option for families looking to help protect their kids from digital dangers.
This phone for kids is an absolute game-changer when it comes to online safety, and gives parents unprecedented control over a child’s online experience. The device itself is a Samsung A14 that comes with Bark built in as well as robust parental controls like GPS-powered location tracking, app management, call blocking, and more. Bark can’t be deleted, and the parental controls are completely customizable so it grows with your child.
The best part of the Bark Phone? With no childlike design or Bark logos, it doesn’t look like a kid’s phone, so teens and tweens will be excited to use it. The Bark Phone starts at $39/month. Order yours today: www.bark.us/bark-phone/

I am using Bark for my granddaughter.
I've seen the PROBLEMS with cell phones via my children.
Thank you. This is long overdue.

We love Bark, it has been great for our family keeping our daughter safe online and keepiing her from seeing innapropriate content.
Recently she disabled it on her phone and my husband and me both got notifications quick, we went to our daughter immediately, turns out she had dissbled it because she wanted to watch southpark and family guy epidodes aswell as movies like Smile, The boogeyeman and Ted, nope!
Luckily my husband and me got there befeore she could see anything innapropriate.
We are so grateful to Bark for protecting our little girl from online dangers and protecting her innocence from innapropriate content! We love Bark!❤

We are currently using an Apple watch for our soon to be 13 year old son. We plan to let him start using a phone fairly soon. We will be faced with the dilemma of what to do with the watch, since it is linked to my iPhone but he has his own number he has been using for texting and calling with the watch. We liked the watch as a bridge to the phone since it offered a more limited range of services but allowed an introduction to texting/calling. It also was easier to keep up with. We have another child we are getting ready to do the same thing with-start with watch and move to phone after about a year. Any chance Bark will work on a watch to pair with the phone? I would love to be able to use both!

I currently have pinwheel phones for my two kids. I love that I can turn off picture texting. Will the bark have the same? I also miss being able to locate the phone as quickly as I could with iPhone. Pinwheel takes sometimes 5 min or more to locate. Will this be faster on the Bark?

Hi Liz! Thanks for your interest! We do monitor text messages, photos and videos, web browsing (including incognito browsing), and many installed apps for worrisome content; however, the Bark Phone settings will not prevent a child from sending or receiving images or videos on the device. Here’s a detailed list of all we monitor: info.bark.us/monitored.
In case it helps, parents will also have the ability to disable the camera, which will prevent the child from screen captures in any program on the device.
The Bark Phone will include GPS powered location tracking (which the parent will be able to view real-time on a map) with the ability to “ping” the phone’s current location, as well as Bark’s Location alerts. Learn more about those here: info.bark.us/locations.
I hope that helps! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team anytime at help@bark.us! 💜

Will the protections on this phone work when not using home wifi? Also, if the kids are on CZcams, will this phone prevent access to any inappropriate content on CZcams?

    • @BarkTechnologies
      @BarkTechnologies  Před rokem +3

Hi Brian! Great questions! Yes, the screen time & web filtering settings will be in place whether your child is on WiFi or Cellular data (just as it is with the current tools).
      Specifically for CZcams-
With our screen time and web filtering service, parents have the ability to enable CZcams Restricted mode, as well as the ability to block CZcams entirely (or customize schedules to limit access), should this be your preference.
      More on these features: info.bark.us/what-is-screentime

And how to manage them: info.bark.us/managing-rules
Unfortunately, there is not a way to filter the content within CZcams. If you think of CZcams as a “House”, and you allow your child access to the “House”, that unfortunately, includes all of the rooms within the House (even the inappropriate ones that feel like they should only be for adults). Bark can “lock the House” and keep them entirely out of CZcams, but if you let them “in the House”, all rooms are open. It’s the same for any web filtering service. We wish these platforms did a better job of providing parental settings “within the House” for kids, but they do not. 😔
In case it helps- On the Bark Phone, we can also monitor & alert you to concerning issues on the CZcams videos your child posts, comments made to those videos, and new videos posted to your child's user and channel subscriptions. Your child must have a connected CZcams account for us to be able to monitor this activity. In addition, CZcams views and searches (including incognito mode) can be monitored without a CZcams account.

And a detailed list of all we monitor on Androids:

It will have the Play Store, and you can approve whichever apps you'd like for your child to access. You can also set how long they may use them and during what hours. If you want it to only access approved contacts for phone calls only, so be it! :) This phone can grow with your family's needs. Apart from having the Bark Kids app installed, it will appear as any other normal Samsung -- it will not have a "kiddie" interface at all. We're excited to help keep even more kids safer! 💛

"sill" ? Also that's a very standard feature of any half decent smart phone. I know Samsung phones have had it for years and years. The unlocked versions (not purchased through a carrier) come with the "Hiya" software integrated into the OS to auto detect scam/spam/robocalls and called ID for numbers you don't have saved. The carriers have Samsung take it out so they can sell you their monthly sub service that dose the same thing (And in some cases is just basically a reskinned "Hiya" app). Thankfully its very easy to take a Samsung you bought from the carrier (so you can still pay it off monthly interest free) and flash the unlocked firmware with all the features (and none of awful bloatware apps the carriers have Samsung put on).

Hey Cassandra! 👋 We're sorry to hear you're having some trouble! In order to monitor iOS devices (and due to Apple restrictions), iOS analyses happen automatically & wirelessly about every 6 hours when your child's device is *home* and on the *same WiFi network* as your *powered on* PC/Mac with the Bark Desktop program *running* (recommended daily). You can also use Bark Home to monitor iOS devices if that's a better option for you:
      support.bark.us/hc/en-us/articles/5715479538829
In answer to your question, yes! The Bark Phone will allow continuous monitoring of text messages without the requirement of another device for analyses. 👊 Lots of info can be found here:

If I’m reading this correctly I think it’s not sending notifications because the computer is not constantly on with the desktop program running. So it seems like the bark home would be our solution to that problem. Is that correct?

    • @BarkTechnologies
      @BarkTechnologies  Před rokem

Hi again! Our support team (help@bark.us) would need access to your account to confirm whether that is the case regarding your iOS monitoring analyses and your computer. (✨ Please do reach out if you need help with this!)
The Bark Home does offer an alternative solution (in lieu of a computer for iOS monitoring), as well as our screen time & web filtering tools for devices connected to your in-home network (think computers, SmartTVs, gaming consoles & more). If you have any Apple devices in your home that you'd like *monitored* for concerning issues (including iPads, etc.), then you will still need either a computer or the Bark Home for those analyses.
The Bark Phone will not require any other device for monitoring or screen time & web filtering. It's all included on the device. Happy to chat further at help@bark.us. 💜

Am I hearing that the chief parenting officer of this company doesn't even use this software for her own kid because she lets him have an iPhone and doesn't want to switch him to android or a bark phone? What on earth? How can you advocate for a company that you don't even use with your own kids? Bark is wonderful! Also, your child probably has another phone you don't know about. Could be someone's old device. Prepaid service is cheap, and can be purchased over the counter. Hell the phone doesn't even have to have cellular service, with the right free apps it will be able to call and text as well as everything else over WiFi, including Hotspot from his/her friends phone(s).
Source= I'm into technology, and was a minor in the past, as it turns out.
Oh, you think you've got their PC locked down? Lol. Bootable live USB, Linux, Windows, whatever. Data can be encrypted, to levels where it's questionable if even the FBI could access it. All with plausible deniability (decoy password reveals decoy data, with no way to prove there's anything else there other than encrypted free space). It took me about a week after Dad brought home the "family PC" to be running circles around his "cybersitting" efforts.
Now, the fact that you can monitor your child's location, you can contact each other in an emergency, that's certainly a good thing. Probably a GOOD thing that these parental leash phones are a social stigmas (I'd assume) and are stashed out of sight, should someone try something evil. You'll both be glad that seconday phone that they probably have ends up being the decoy phone.

I know exactly what you are talking about. But people with that level of technical knowledge are not the norm. Not even close. Most people don't even know what Linux is let alone a live boot disc (well flash drive now a days), what truecrypt is (or the open-source fork can't remember the name, I switched to bitlocker). Do some "kids" (~12-13+) know about this stuff or some of it? Of course. Do most? Not even close. Can they still find ways to do things online without the parent/parents knowing? Yea. It will be more difficult for them most def though. Only having internet access (unmonitored and unfiltered) when another friend is over or outside the house is pretty limiting (if the parent is knowledgeable enough its extremely easy to control what devices connect to your network even if they know the password), but of course nothing is foolproof.
I don't have kids though and IDK how I'd feel about making them use a phone like this where they know I can read all their messages on everything etc. It has good intentions of course (monitoring for drug/alcohol use, suicidal warnings, bullying, online predators etc). I would have hated having zero privacy as a kid. IDK, it's complicated and a balancing act.
At the very least you need to talk to and educate your child about the very real dangers online. Esp sexual predators on tiktok, instagram etc. Heck some kid (we're pretty sure) created a throw away instagram account to post two pics of two different girls at my niece's school. They were 13-14 years old and the pictures were VERY sexually graphic and had insulting hateful text overlayed on top. They were obviously taken by the girls to send to a boyfriend (probably a ex). They didn't think about how that 13-14 year old boy you are dating now will have the pictures forever. Anyways it took Instagram about a week to even take it down despite me reporting it multiple times to them through official channels, twitter, filing a report with the center for exploited children etc.

"tamper proof" yeah, no. it goes through email. get the email, get full access to all control including removing it. easy peasy. (have done it before with this phone. do better)

Thanks for your feedback! The Bark Phone was just released last month, and it doesn't quite work that way. 😉 The Bark Phone is even so tamper-proof that it prevents kids from using Safe Mode-- even if they factory reset the phone, you will still have Bark automatically put in place. 💜 We're happy to chat anytime: > info.bark.us/contact

Hi Faith! Absolutely! Any app in the Google Play Store that is compatible with the Samsung A13 can be added if parents wish. 💙
