I love how you EXPLAIN & go through everything step by step in all your videos!! ❤ Thankyou!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks bro. Really appreciate all the work you do to do these reviews.
@e1b0ricua17...Thanks for watching!
Great video! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these review videos. I would like to get three cams but I’ll wait for a sale 😄
Excellent review! Thank you for testing & sharing your knowledge & insights!
Excellent, methodical testing. Very helpful!
Great review. I have their first wyze flood light cam and this pro version is definitely a step up.
Yes, better than their older one. Thanks for watching!
Thanks again for all your very informative videos, happy father's day ❤❤❤
Always a good presentaion on your reviews . i trust your testing results . Thank you :)
Great review...Every aspect in great details!!
Seeing this video just in time. My old garage motion flood lights died and I refused to replace it, and was going to rig up a solar motion light + WyzeCam 3. This should do the trick.
Thank you so much for reviewing this! Unfortunately I find two big issues with this product.
The larger FOV causes a degradation of picture quality the further you go, and it still has the same slow notification speed.
Thanks again!
Thanks for watching!
I think this is Wyze's best camera so far!
great video. thanks for your hard work. 👍👏
@dmiroy...Thanks for watching!
thanks for the video, even though I'm not going to buy it, luv to see this kind of videos
Great review!
Thanks for this review! Not it seems they got their stuff together and made a great product!
Thanks for watching!
Looks and performed great. Later I may test it out in my driveway also to replace my ring floodlight cam. I do also like that it was the motion warning feature just like ring.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your review.
Been waiting for this!!!!!! Thank you! Wish it had the extra usb port to add a 2nd camera
Thanks for watching!
Great review 👌👏
@siralexbarclay...Thanks for watching!
Audio quality sounds much better than previous generation floodlight cam. Great job Wyze, continue improving!
Totally agree
Yes, definitely better.
It almost feels like this video was made for me after my last comment on needing a flood light with continuous recording and showing the light from it in the yard haha. As always amazing review. I am a bit disappointed in the picture quality though. I feel like it was pretty poor resolution wise, especially from a distance and not being able to really see the license plate from distance and movement was pretty disappointing. But even with that it sure feels like the best flood light camera currently available.
It looks like the camera itself here is adjustable, I want it on the side of my house and point to a bit towards the front. That's possible right?
You can adjust it to tilt to the side but not 90 degrees. You will get the FOV though because it is that wide.
Great video. If you but multiple cameras, are you able to.see the video on a monitor in multiple windows?
Great review, I appreciate the test using real life movements, and some of your Oscar winning performances. :)👍
How would you compare this with the Lorex 2K Flood Camera?
Hi since you always doing camera review, which one do you use at home for security? Any cheap and reliable ones you can recommend?
I always to come your channel only for these things. Which would you say is the best outdoor wired and also unwired floodlight cam?
The audio is pretty good . brightness of lights is also good. I like the voice warning. Looks like your Ring spotlight cam finally became a door stop.. btw reolink has out a new camera that turns night into day...
Lol…I actually have 3 spotlight cams in my backyard… I will be reviewing the Reolink one pretty soon.
Thanks!
@dhendersonunitedrealestate2383, Thank you. I really appreciate it and thanks for watching!
Watched your review of the Eufy floodlight and this (just ordered the Eufy but am rethinking the install after the video). I have a very specific need and no plans to integrate into a camera service (unless I buy this Wyze model). I need to replace the spotlight over my garage and on garbage night, I have someone messing with my cans. I want to be able to schedule when I am notified. Having the ability to view the cam on Goolge Home is a plus, but not required. I've seen mixed comments on if this is possible with either unit. Which one would you buy? Also, great videos!
Great review. I have been waiting to see what your thoughts were on this camera. I'm curious how useful you think this new floodlight cam is if you don't have the cam plus subscription.
Without subscription, you will get all motion events with a 5 minute cool off. It has a tagging feature though on the SD card timeline of person detected events. So if you don’t need accurate notifications, then this can work.
@@LifeHackster 5 minute cool off? so like it would notify you of motion, but then if it detects motion again within 5 minutes it wont notify you?
thats terrible. always some catch in the fine print with these cameras. i'm not gonna go down the sub road i refuse...so far with my blinks and reolink no sub needed and i dont lose any functionality important to me.
edit: just checked and if you only do 1 camera its 20 a year, which i could actually stomach. but then they screw you on multiple cams costing 10 a month which is way too high. should be 3 a month is my threshold. so far i'd only use this floodlight, but what happens if you buy another wyze cam later (and you dont want to put it on sub), would it automatically force you to the higher subscription?
at the end of the day in my scenario and location i think i'd be better off doing another reolink. the advantage of this one was the lights and being able to wire it into my spotlight mount. but for the expense, hell i could get a solar powered 2k reolink and have even easier install. or a 50 wired poe reolink and get better quality for less (but wiring hassle)
I ordered a few yesterday while they were on sale for $100. I'm looking forward to replacing my V3 Pros
Thanks for sharing
@oldpelon7623...Thanks for watching!
Looking at possibly getting this. My existing junction box is only like 6 feet high. Is that too low for the cam?
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks. I want to put this over my garage door like you did, but my garage is detached from the house and it faces 90 degrees from the front of the house. Do you think that’s a wise idea? (Pun intended!😅)
Lol..it think it will work just because of the wide FOV.
I bought the 1st Gen Wyze floodlight for less than half of the Pro version ($69.99). Is paying more than double worth the upgrades in the Pro version? I have v3 cameras around my house with no problems. Any thoughts?
Great review. What was your findings for distance of the subject for the motion to trigger the lights to come on at night? Secondly, you mentioned that there was a dusk to dawn feature. Is there a way to turn on/off the lights manually, bypassing the motion?
Nice!!
@kdscrapping4452...Thanks for watching!
Oh shame itsnot available in UK. I am in need for floodlight cam! Or maybe i am gonna mount Eufy light cam.
I bought the older model but then realized where I was going to put it to record the front driveway would have put the camera behind a gutter downspout run 😞 So I returned it. I plan to extend the junction box to the side and away from the gutter pipe and buy this one now. I also have two easy installs to replace the back flood lights with these. My question for anyone who has purchased one is how does it work with the hardwired light switch I already had for my floodlights? I want to be able to flick the switch to turn on the flood lights when I let my dogs out and not have to go through the app. It also just dawned on me that the switch would need to be on to power the camera when "not" using the flood lights. Would I be stuck using the app then? PS - I forgot to mention awesome job on the review. Very thorough!!
The floodlight cam needs to have continuous power on it. Your dogs will trigger it anyways (when selected all motion in the settings) or you can set it dusk to dawn or in a schedule in low brightness and will turn full brightness when it senses motion and this is my current settings.
Thank you for showing you can mount it horizontally!
@JohnnyBouldin...Thanks for watching!
I have 2 questions ❓
Can this be used with plug-in to wall like the Ring Plug - Mount and does it need be under a eave of the roof ❓
Thank you 🙏🏽
Nice cam with flood lights... and two way talk etc.
Man I installed mine and just moving the light a little the dam plastic broke with ease. You are on point on your explanation. So disappointed. Just glued it but if something else fails I will just throw it away and never again. Great video. Wise wake up don't make your things too weak or you will lose your clients or future clients faster than flash. There are many companies out there that will fill the spots where others fail.
See, I love the wyze eco system and everything but they need to fix those notification times. 8 seconds is a long time compared to ring or even the tp link cameras
That floodlight will definitely make securing your front yard easier.
Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I installed my floodlight pro, and it's not live streaming. I don't know what I am doing wrong. All my other wyze cams works fine
Do you know if Wyze will offer an optional plug in adapter for this camera? I'm thinking of purchasing the Ring Floodlight cam Pro with the plug in adapter since I don't have a junction box, but this camera is much more affordable if they offer the plug in adapter. Thank you! And thanks for your great videos....very informative.
Please watch this -> czcams.com/video/Jx0M5kPzh9w/video.html
Thank you! @@LifeHackster
I'm trying to install this in a corner horizontally. I'm trying to light behind the camera. Can I rotate one of the 3 floodlights?
Is getting the 1st Gen Wyze floodlight a better value in your opinion? I use the SD card and not the Cam Plus subscription.
Actually this one has a benefit of tagging person events in the timeline on the microSD card. The V3 and the older floodlight cam doesn’t have this option.
So if this is controlled by the power wall switch, what happens if someone "accidentally" turns off the switch? Will the camera continue recording with an internal battery?
Can you access and edit the SD card remotely
Does it have professional monitoring? I have the same pealing issue on my Ring floodlight camera causing issues with night vision and detection. Maybe need to peal it off to see if that fixes it. The ring app is still better I think if you want to scroll back to see motion events and scrub the time lapse. The fact it's made out of plastic could be an issue due to exposure to direct UV that could cause it to crack and fall off the mount. And motion detection is a little better and faster with Ring. Maybe you can add this to the Ring app if you have the Ring alarm pro but I doubt it, it's not a PoE camera so it probably doesn't support the necessary protocol. At least not without some hacking.
I don't think Wyze has camera monitoring like Ring's Virtual Security Guard. You can just peel off or scrape off the remaining plastic on the Ring Floodlight Cam and it should be ok. Ring app is still the better app overall.
seeking advice on which ring outdoor camera should I get for our apartment. will be placed in the balcony. we have ring doorbell and ring indoor camera already, that's why seeking for a ring brand outdoor camera. thanks a lot.
I think wyze is definitely better than ring and blinks honestly.
Question: Is it possible to 'dim' or othewise change the light output of the lights? I.e.: What if I don't want to full blast the light, as I'm in a small area? Thanks.
Yes you can!
@@LifeHackster thank you. Love the channel.
This camera is $99.88 until the end of today. Between this and the v2 that is $59, do you think it's worth the extra $40? I am planning to purchase two for both sides of my house. thx!
Hi , I am currently have a blink wireless floodlight , I am not too confident of doing myself drilling hole in front of my garage for the wired one , but wireless are not so much efficient camera I found ,
For the wired one , can you actually drill hole front garage top putting a junction box or shall I hire a electrician for that , many homeowner want to put a floodlight in front garage and many are just drill themselves but builders don’t put any junction box at top front garage ..
I am quite not so impressed with this blink wireless floodlight because of low visibility, lack of wide angle and low quality picture but Wyze camera seems are very highly efficiently better than others .
Wyze Camera Detection Zone settings does not work on either of my V3 cameras, I'm skeptical of the this feature on any of their cameras.
If I do not subscribe to any of the Wyze cam subscription, can I still get the person only notification? In the light of this and also the fact that Wyze do not have a DVR, why will you not prefer the Reolink Duo over this?
You will only get all motion notifications and with a 5 minute cool off. The recordings on the micro SD card though will be tagged with person events. Reolink Duo needs a separate 12 volt power supply and not a junction box type install.
Thanks
Do you recommend this one over the previous gen flood light from wyze?
Good question
would this work if you cut off the end of an extension cord and wired it up to plug into a 120 volt outlet?
Watch this -> czcams.com/video/Jx0M5kPzh9w/video.html
perfect I should have expected this THANKS!@@LifeHackster
WOW…..LH actually replaced the Ring with the Wyze Cam i think that says a lot….i like it the mike seems really sensitive too i could hear your voice while talking normally……
Thanks for watching!
Wait, does this require a neutral wire? Many homes don't have.
Dear lifehackster enjoy all your videos and this one was pretty good but I will tell you I’m a real fan of ring even though I watch all your videos but I do have a question about the ring alarm pro you could help me with. I’m still up in the air about upgrading to the alarm pro but what I need to know is come 2025 when we will all need the pro subscription would it be better to have the alarm pro base station then anyway seeing I will be paying the same amount. Any help would be appreciated thanks and keep making the videos.
There is a bump in subscription price but I have been using the Alarm PRO since I reviewed it and I haven't had any issues yet. Thanks for watching!
Can I mount it with the mounting plate horizontal attached to the bottom of my eve?
yes
Not bad for Wyze. I wish ALL those offering cameras that take a microSD card would offer up to 1TB of storage.
@jcm9698...Thanks for watching!
Agreed 1TB storage would be awesome
Does the original Wyze floodlight have warning you are currently being recorded?
Nope.
If you had to choose Eufy, Wyze, or TP-Link which would you choose?
Out of the 3, If I only have to choose 1, I'll go with Eufy but if I can have different brands, I'll go with all of them.
@@LifeHackster thanks!
So do the pro have the USB connection to wire an extra cam like the first floodlight.
No, not like the first. 😢
If it wasn't for the fact it doesn't have a spare usb port like the old floodlight does, I would be very tempted to swap my current wyze floodlight to this one.
(I use the og telephoto cam with the floodlight to monitor the street pointed at my house (T intersection) and (its almost) a must for me now to have that zoom capability. (It has benefited one of my neighbors greatly with their stalker issue and vehicle theft.)
Yes, this is a different design overall.
I have a problem with the lights, only the outer square lights up, the 4 LEDs in the middle don't light up?
That's normal. The 4 inner lights are the IR LEDs.
That under the eave set up, the light must wash out any quality camera view. No?
Mine works on WiFi anywhere but won't connect with a cell phone signal. I put a ticket in to Wyze and they said they can't fix it and gave up with support. It would make a great baby monitor but, if you're away from home, it's useless.
Looking for suggestions. I'm not even sure if this exists but is there a camera out there that would allow me to zoom in up to 100 ft and clearly be able to read a license plate?
czcams.com/video/XRLxV8YqJQA/video.html
@@LifeHackster Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into that one. I'm just getting my feet wet with security cameras and got a Ring flood light cam wired plus for half off last year at Black Friday sales. Just got around to installing it this past week. Without having anything to compare it to it has been mostly satisfying. I do feel like the notifications could be faster. Sometimes whatever triggers the camera has already moved past by the time I open the app to view it. Also at full zoom the picture quality deteriorates significantly but maybe that's to be expected.
That is a good one, how much does it cost?
150
I think a big con to this product is the temperature rating of -4 degrees as compared to ring flood light of -30 degrees but for price its not terrible
Nice but if it’s like my cam pan 3 , it picks up bugs flying by at night even after adjusting sensitivity
With the Cam Plus, and notifications set only to persons, I don't have any issues with bug alerts.
@@LifeHackster thanks I’ll try that 👍
Your reviews are the best! There should be a feature to record your own voice to play as the motion warning like ezviz/reolink cameras.
Also some additional features I wish you can mention for Wyze are being able to live view 4+ Wyze cams in the Wyze app simultaneously by putting them in a group. As well as the picture and picture feature if you view your Wyze cam on the Wyze live view web app on an iPhone. Some folks may not know about these which Makes way better than most other security cameras.
Thanks for watching!
How is motion detection? As far as false detections from all the street traffic..
The thing that I notice is the vehicle detection will give you notifications from our parked cars ... infrequent but it does and more often at night. Person detection though is pretty good.
At least it's not as ugly as their previous floodlight with the little Wall-E camera
I thought Wyze advertised that you could use bluetooth for the camera to join the wifi network.
Bluetooth is used in the setup only to send your WiFi credentials to the camera.
@@LifeHackster From the video, it looked like a regular setup where you typed in wifi password. There wasn't a QR code scan then.
I'm not sure whether you pointed this subtle difference out in the video.
Do you know the wattage on this? or amps?
It says 120V ~ 50/60Hz 0.61A
@@LifeHackster thank you
Notification speed is too slow 7+ sec, I hate that.
@ustv2312...Thanks for watching!
Better than Blink
Ring notifies you then take forever to show the live feed person would be gone by the time I see it I’m looking to get new cameras
Does this version have another port to plug in another cam like the v1?
Am I the only one that misses the "So... this is the"?
:)
Just purschased after google nest aware just increased their price just because they wanted no improvements of anything
It'd be perfect if they make it as metal instead of plastic.
How did you get a black one?! When I ordered mine it only came in white and black still isn't available to purchase. But why does it need to say "Hi", when it tells someone they are being recorded. That's kind of lame. Yes, it's plastic but I don't think it feels cheap as it's a very solid thick plastic. But I really wish it had the a color temperature option so it could be adjusted to warm light instead of cool white light. And why did they put a flare on the top frame of the floods? Because if you mount it on an eave, then the fares are on the bottom. And there really is no point to have the frames flared at the top as they don't stick out enough to do anything.
You do know that there is no need to turn off the wall switch to the light, if the circuit breaking is flipped off. I say this because if the circuit breaker is on you can possibly still get shocked even if the wall switch is off, if the hot was wired incorrectly. So having the wall switch off doesn't give you extra safety.
But do you think this could be a replacement front porch light?
The black one is shipping soon. As to the build quality, to all the ones that I have tested, this one has a cheaper feel to it. As to safety, I have to cover all my bases here is CZcams so turning off the switch and the breaker box is redundant but will prevent shock 100% of the time.
@@LifeHackster I think this version feels more solid they the original Wyze Floodlight. But again turning off the wall switch will not prevent shock 100% of the time. A lot of switches are wired incorrectly and only thing that matters is turning off the circuit breaker. But if you really wanted to cover your bases, then you would have said to use a circuit tester on wires after turning things off because that's the only way you will really know that the circuit isn't hot.
Lol is this the same resist on the forum?
You have a bad attitude wherever you go😂
It's about the same price as Reolink Duo 2 poe. Rather get that
The Duo 2 and even the duo floodlight uses a 12 volt power supply…and you will not be able to install in a junction box.
2k or?
Yes
I like it but don't want a hard wired
7 second notification is still too long.
Now if it only had about 5k lumens and better distance detection.
Nice review. Unfortunately, I have lost confidence with Wyze. They now want to charge a fee (Like most others) and some of their new products are no longer compatible with their former products. I'll stick with something more reliable.
Thanks for watching!
💐🌹🌷👍👏💐
yikes, that license plate was barely readable.
Yes..because of the FOV.
The compression is pretty bad, even at 2.5k its about the same as any other 1080p cam.
After 1 year Wyze Floodlight Pro STILL CAN'T Connect to Blueiris. This is a waste of money for anyone using Blueiris.
Wyze cam sub is joke I used to pay for the 10$ dollar but every time I went to add the sub to a cam it didn’t let it keep saying to subscribe
“Feels plastiky” is code word for Cheap…lol
Does it need a WiFi
Yes.
