- "Firefly" - an original song written in June 1995. I started writing it because a kid at camp showed me a Firefly they caught.
This song was a beast to play, even though it's super easy on guitar. E major on ukulele is not my friend yet, and after playing this over and over, my hand was cramping up pretty bad. I actually have all the words to this memorized still, but when I was recording, my brain kept freaking out about all of the E major and I would forget what words came next. So, I had the words up on my computer screen just in case. In đ„”
I'm playing my new Enya Nova U Pro tenor uke. I did have the AcousticPlus effects on, but I don't think it's noticeable. It doesn't seem as good as my brother's Concert, no idea why.
General project notes:
I'm sharing 100 #ukulele #practice sessions as 100 posts in 100 days, for the #100DaysUke2024 #challenge. I'm a new player (starting 11 February 2024), but I also play guitar, so skill transfer is a thing. đ Also, it's practice, not perfect at all. đ€Ł The point is, here's proof I've been practicing!

Lyrics:
Firefly
If I were beautiful
Would my life be perfect
Would love and my loneliness
Would it answer my prayers
Would it give me a world
That I've only imagined
Would it swallow my teardrops
Would it calm all my cares
For I am a firefly
Blinking bright green
Blinking back tears
Before they are seen
Is finding a mate
The most primal of needs
Flowers can't bloom
In the presence of weeds
If I possessed magic
Could I mix a potion
Would it make you love me
Would it sew up loose seems
Could that potion give me
The voice of an angel
Would it sing me to sleep
Would it sweeten my dreams
Cho:
If songs were made of satin
Would their words be softer
Would they sparkle like ribbons
Would they tie up my sorrows
And if they were softer
Would words still be daggers
Would they hurt those that I love
Would they spoil their tomorrows
