Taylor said she wrote this song at the point of view of the character that media portraits her, like she's a crazy person who's always dating different guys for fun, pretending being the perfect girlfriend but then showing how crazy she is and then they break up. So it's such a fun song, literally a satire, I love this music video

Glad you had a good laugh this video, Blank Space is one of the biggest song she had on the album 1989. It's sacarsm that is aimed at how the media portrayed her as this serial dater girl that traps men and cries in a marble bathtub surrounded by pearls when they leave. Even the sentence "Boys only want love if it's torture" is a reflect on how the media said she treated boys too
I love this song! She wrote it as a reaction for all the tabloids writing stuff about her love life and how they painted her as the "crazy girlfriend" who has a new boyfriend every few months and is breaking his heart.
Ok, so funny story time-the guy in this video isn't an actor, he's a model, & he was a bit awestruck by Taylor & the very first scene they shot was when she's straddling him & bites his lip! They said after that he almost couldn't function which is why you see him have that puppy dog look on his face sometimes! So hilarious!
there's a performance she does of this song at the grammy museum which is in my opinion one of the best live performances she's done and she explains blank space before she sings it. you should watch! her vocals are so good there

This one was so clever for her, basically tabloids decided to talk bad about her for dating guys in her 20s, they painted her as a crazy girlfriend, someone insane and calculated, she thought the character that they had painted for her was quite interesting so she wrote this song, as you can tell it's completely satire and it became one of the biggest songs of the 2010s, she also made history with it, she had released her song shake it off months before blank space, shake it off became a huge hit and it topped the hot 100 chart, when she released blank space, the song was a massive success and it went #1, replacing herself from the top spot, she's the only female artist that has done that I believe

It's really important to remember that this song is satirical. The first few times I heard this song, it made me really sad. When I found out she was kidding, I was able to enjoy it.

This isn't just my favorite Taylor song, this is my favorite pop song of all time. To me it's up there with "A Day In The Life" by The Beatles and "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis, a 10/10 Debbie's satirical masterpiece since this song was inspired by the false persona the media gave to Taylor and it's basically mocking them.(I also haven't heard a better song since this was released in 2014).

Very true! Still feel bad when he first mentioned his ocd. Think it's unfortunate cos he just so happened to start on a sad Taylor song, so people recommended similar & it spiralled. But was hard seeing him being consistently bummed out from sad songs😕
So really its pretty awesome he messed his schedule up just for our benefit
