    Taylor is the godmother of Ryan's children, they are good friends and he asked to be part of her music video, so he is! Also, his first born it's the voice in the intro of taylor's song Gorgeous, and on her album folklore Taylor did a whole story with 3 songs naming the characters after Ryan's daughters

      As far as I know Taylor is only friends with Blake and Ryan. Did they say somewhere that Taylor is godmother? I couldn’t find it.
      She is a godmother to Jaime King’s son.

    "Snakes and Stones" is a reference to her reputation era, in which she used snake imagery. (She was called a snake online by a clout chaser, so she embraced the snake motif.) Taylor takes common phrases and turns them around regularly. See also "I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say" instead of "damned if you do, damned if you don't" and "If the shoe fits walk in it til your high heel breaks" instead of "if the shoe fits wear it."

    Loved the reaction! Btw, since you seemed confused by the "snakes and stones" line, it's a reference to when everyone on the internet started calling her a snake.

    In 2016 when public opinion of Taylor was at its lowest, there was unfounded suspicion that she was Republican solely because she was politically silent within her music and wouldn't address it in interviews. So ppl began to wonder if she might be homophobic too (based on literally nothing). She already had a pro-LGBT lyric in a 2014 song called Welcome to New York but for some reason that wasn't enough. Todrick Hall - the dancer next to her at 3:52 even asked her "What would you think if your kid was gay" and she said confused "Then they would be gay?" His asking her made her realise she needed to be louder/clearer on where she stood (plus the public was already pushing her to be more political). So this song/video is a result of all that. And then of course everyone said it was pandering or "cringe". Can't win! But the single did very well in sales/charts.

    Taylor sneaks references to snakes into a lot of things. Kim Kardashian pretty famously called her a snake and she’s never let the joke of that fully die for her. lol

    Snakes refers to Kim Kardashian's Twitter/Snapchat attack on Taylor, using snake emoji's in Twit land, and posting an edited version of Taylor speaking to Kanye about a song he was writing (Famous). It was a publicity stunt by West and the Kardashians, that took advantage of the degree to which Taylor's success as an artist was being overshadowed by media labeling her as calculated and dating for sport, just to write sad breakup songs. It struck a chord with jealous fans of other artists, and the trolls who like to tweet hate on anything that looks vulnerable. So Taylor made snakes a symbol of her comeback and tour. She included snake decorations on her microphones, using a huge (at least 40 foot) inflatable cobra on stage (She named it Karyn = Karen, like the internet meme). IOW, she turned their attacks on her into a marketing win for her. 🤣

    The Snakes reference is about the time when she and Kanye had a beef whent he called her a Whore in his song and the internet called her a snake cause he record a fone call with Tay where she approved he using her name in the song, but she didn't know it was to talk shit abt her but the internet judged her anyway.

    In this video Taylor invided a lot of her friends and LGBTQ people. Taylor is a very close friend to Ryan Reynolds and his family, one of his kids is the responsable for the intro of the song Gourgeus;Taylor used Ryan's children names to her caracheters in the folklore album (James, Betty and Inêz, witch are metioned at the song Betty); Ryan's wife, Blake was the director of the "I bet you think about me" music video; The first time we heard an snipped of a rerecorded song from Taylor was when she allowed Ryan to use a snipped of Love Story (Taylor's Version) in a video he made saying goodbye to 2020.
    Other thing about this music video is the appearance of Katy Perry as a hamburger, that simbolizes the end of a fight Taylor and Katy had (Taylor made Bad Blood to Katy and Katy made Swish Swish in response).
    As a fan, to me this is one of the worst songs from Taylor but the video has a lot of interesting things.

  • @robertthompson7242
    @robertthompson7242 Před rokem +1

    Burger and French Fries Best Female Friends. Katy Perry and Taylor had a public beef from 2015 to the start of the Reputation tour in 2018; they ended it with Perry sending a literal olive branch to Taylor the opening night. But a lot of the fans wouldn't let it go (and the tabloids continued using it for clickbait). Perry wore the hamburger outfit to an event -- the Met Gala? in 2019 just weeks before the video dropped. Something you'll probably appreciate: she dropped the lyric video for the song (With GLAAD in the lyrics -- LGBTQ+ anti-defamation non profit) on Donald Trump's birthday; 3 days later, she dropped the video (dice in the opening sequence added up to the number of days to the album drop -- she hadn't announced the release yet. Queen of Easter Eggs!).

    You have a long journey sir. Snakes refers to the repuation era. When kanye release a song calling her a b/tch and saying he made her famous, kim released edittes audio showing she gave permission for him to say it, except she specifically said as long as its respectful >the full audio released years later proving she didnt lie< so after the edited audio everyone tweeted the snake emoji at her. everyone. And killed her repuation. She disapeared for a few years and came back with repuation, full of snakes as a clap back. The beginning of Lover Era was Me! The video started with a snake which expoded into butterflies marking the ending of repuation era.

    "Snakes" refers to the snake in the Genesis garden story.
    It's the super-villain that Christian fundamentalists liken her to
    and accuse her of serving.
    They can throw that accusation at her (and everyone else they hate) all they want. It doesn't hurt because it's not real and their opinions don't matter anyways.
