To make up for illegally watching the new series (I’m currently unemployed, unbritished and was desperate. Don’t be like me, kids), I decided to compile all the opening gags of the season to bring attention to it and spread the word. I say season because it’s less depressing and realistic than series.
I do not own DHMIS, all rights go to Blink Industries and Channel 4.

I just realized that in the intro for 5, Yellow is describing 6. "Another me" is smart Yellow, "the other ones" are the Big and Bigger Boys, the "little lumpy one" is the Experiment, the "whiny/windy (not sure which he says) middle one" is Lesley, and "the stuff I heard about that I knew about but I don't know now" is the book that he shredded.
I assumed he was referring to the previous episode, friendship. When there was multiple versions of him, and they referred to the thing of the floor as "the lump"

It’s insane that Becky and Joseph went out of their way to do even more set design and puppeteering just for these intro gags
As well as Baker Terry (Yellow Guy and Duck’s Actor, and some of the teachers’ actors such as Briefcase) had a big role in helping make the show this time.

In the intro alone they have more personality than in the og series

Fun fact: if you hear very, very closely, at the start of every intro/opening, you can actually hear the creaks made from the lever Lesley it’s moving.

I feel like people tend to overlook how good the creators of this show are at composing. I think a lot of the songs suffer a bit in the name of the plot because they have to make it feel like the show is falling apart to maintain that horror aspect, but when the songs are composed as full pieces they work wonderfully.
Yeah even in the first youtube episode they had good songs hidden under some spookiness
Just the notes they use in the opening gives it an underlying unsettling nature.

@@pugpartyproductions8805 I'm mainly speaking out of my ass here but could it be because the very short and ear-piercing noise of the little bells can make your brain go into a more panicked mode? Like, thinking about other pieces of unsettling music (first thing that comes to mind are the frantic violins in Sondheim's Sweeney Todd) it's mostly high pitched and short notes in quick succession
Right? I love the Memories song but when Yellow Guy starts derailing is when I wish there was a version that genuinely kept the authentic cuteness of the song haha

a thing i noticed in the opening is that the "there's just three of us" may be a reference to wakey wakey, it had a lot of new characters, and while the new show also has new characters, the main focus is the original trio
also, in the end of the opening, the frames are organized like some of the photos in the Interview with the puppets
There was also a reference in episode 5 to Clayhill, the old town in which the previous TV series of DHMIS took place in but the GPS said that it didn’t exist anymore, so that’s another gimmick
Also some parts of the opening sounds a bit like the opening for wakey wakey's pilot

Ok so there is something special about episode 5. Episode 5 seems to either take place after episode 6, or before episode 6 with some weird time or causality shenanigans. It seems that Yellow guy can still see the smarter version of himself, along with what maybe seems to be dozens of himself
with how episode 6 starts out with YG referencing the episode's nature before it's begun, it's shenanigans
I think the point was that the smart version of Yellow Guy was always inside him. It's just that his rusty batteries stopped him from being able to access that part of his mind.
Episode 2 also take place before episode 1 since the end credits theme reference the next set of events with a "handshake" which is the remaining 5 episode
I'm pretty sure he talking about episode 6 but of the web series. The way he says that he remembers dreaming and then people appearing and him having a bad time and suddenly everything going black and all that seems to be just dhmis 6 but from his perspective.

i love how yellow guy is just dumb at first with his friends. but then later on in the episode is yellow guy panicking and telling the people at the screen or a living object to stop singing or needs help and his friends red guy and duck dont even care or notice. this shows yellow guy isnt dumb after all. hes just trying to ask help in every episode. no one seems to pay attention to him.

I love how the intros get more and more morbid as you go down the list of episodes. Episodes one, two and three have lighthearted and even funny intros but episode 4 makes Red guy scream about their living conditions, episode 5 makes Yellow guy enter a downward spiral over the events in the next episode and episode 6 throws no punches and just throws us straight in with the "hold on, this isn't so lighthearted anymore...." We don't even get the upbeat intro, just a feeling of uncannyness as the house is spun around.

The friendship intro is probably the most natural of them all

Something for this theory is that in episode 3 when they bring out the family wallet, you can actually see that duck's ID is still dead.

Strings: Symbol of fate and storytelling
Pig: Symbol of man-kind's missdeeds
Also: they all also seem to represent a sort of triad similar to the fates, but male, Yellow is the little boy, as for his overalls and overall child-like demeanor, but also more central role in the child-show-like show. Red is the young man, he is often placed at positions of activity, such as a CEO or a driver, and he's also the tallest one, compared to a kid who hasn't grown up yet, or an old man who's shrunk. and Green is the old man, he's often seen lethargic, reading the paper, or upholding -tradition- schedule, not to mention his implied military service.
The amount of destroyed or wet or broken or bleeding puppets of the same characters is just proof they want to make this the best
I remember when me and my nana were watching the family episode we both laughed super hard at the nightmare gag 😂😂

This is such a catchy intro. It’s stuck in my head CONSTANTLY!
2:17 body full maggots, its the "OG" (at least the one from ep1) that died, like the paper predicted. The flesh thing replaces the og bird's picture on the fridge, while og bird gets a new one in the "4 of us" song, every episode after this one keeps the pink paint picture. In episode 6 when yellow drops the bird figurine his body tumbles and his head falls in the same way as his episode 2 decapitation. And the end shows there are enough spares for a while.
Probably the Maggots fell off him.
Spoiler Warning: I watched episode 6 and the ending is... kinda depressing, just the characters not knowing that they are being ruled by someone else

I'm going to extremely overanalyze this intro and then the show because it's so damn interesting.
The intro always striked me as odd because, of course there's only three of them. *So why is there so much emphasis on it?*
I think it's some kind of foreshadowing, the fact that no, there isn't JUST three of them. There's Leslie, the big and bigger boys, and the people upstairs of Leslie. Also Roy in the walls but technically he doesn't count.
I keep thinking and I really think they're going to permanently kill the characters one by one, probably per season. Something interesting to note is the intro's tagline can stay the exact same
"There's two of us"
"There's one of me"
Perfectly on beat still.
Now about the episodes themselves.
Very first episode is weird because the teacher isn't there like, at all. He disappears into a closet and turns into a first aid kit. Does this mean something? I don't think so.
The stress song is actually the most interesting part because of the lyrics:
"Imagine all your thoughts are in a cube"
"And the cube is made of nothing"
"And the cube is actually you."
So if Duck is supposed to be the cube, does this mean he isn't real? There is some evidence supporting this theory actually. Fast forward to episode two and the blob thing mentions
"Some people think we're in a simulation."
Now this is obviously supposed to be a gag line....RIGHT?
Well fast forward to episode five and the answer is there. They *are* in a simulation. The glitches, the sudden contrast of disgusting dull garbage compared to their soft fluffy green landscape.
Also on the topic of Duck himself, let's discuss the whole 'bullying' aspect of DHMIS.
The webseries (Or 'season one') bullies Yellow guy. A lot. This was because Roy was punishing him according to an article (www.itsnicethat.com/features/dont-hug-me-im-scared-interview-030516[Roy, do you have anything to add?
Roy: My silly boy has allowed his eyes to grow arrogant and rude, for this I will take him on a trip to punish land.])
So, an occuring theme in season two is Duck being singled out. Not getting a job, being the one to die, not having a family and in fact being denied one, nothing notable in episode four actually, or five for that matter, or six I believe. But it's odd because does that mean he's being punished too? Let's also talk about the awakening aspect. In the webseries Red was the one who was always aware everything is wrong, he still is, but now Yellow is equally aware, along with Duck. I wonder if they're going to break out?
Also, Red screaming "And we're living in a nightmare." Is SO jarring it's perfect.
That honestly wasn't a theory, just speculation. But still it's interesting to see everything layed out and potential outcomes.

Adding to your “duck always getting bullied” aspect, with the theory of Lesley being Yellow guy’s mother and him dying by a car accident, it was cause of the gift of a bird making him go on the street. This could be why Duck is always targeted, Lesley blames the animal for her son’s death.
Another addition to the duck keeps getting bullied thing, Lesley only has replacements that we know of for duck, and there’s nowhere else for there to be replacements. This could mean that duck keeps getting bullied because Lesley has so many of them (ducks are more common than red string things and yellow pigs)

In intro 1, the last one to talk was duck, then in the next episode he was the protagonist. In intro 2 it was yellow guy, then yellow guy again, then red guy and lastly yellow.
In the last one maybe no one has something special to not spoil next season
Every-time I watched the intros all I could think was: I bet the crew was going mad from the instrumentals while remaking puppet intro's with new subtle things.

so it came as no surprise that there would be gags that would progressively increase in oppression until it came to a product with the meta sequence
Some of the intros show the characters becoming self-aware sometimes. Like red guy and yellow guy. Red guy says they're living in a nightmare and yellow guy foreshadows some of the events.

- "Lots of fun" could be before he took Electracy's batteries and enjoyed the lesson
- "The other ones" could be him exploring the upper levels and meeting the other characters
- "Little lumpy one" could be what the Bigger Boys were experimenting on
- "Middle one" one of the other levels
- "There were things that they had around" Things like him seeing the puppeteers, the advanced equations, Lesley's "playset" and book
- "I knew what they were but I don't know now" Him knowing that the book Lesley gave him was important but losing his memory.
- "And then it went away" Him losing his good batteries and shredding the book.
At least that's how I see it

I've watched all six episodes on Channel 4 (previously 4oD and All 4) and it's very good. Also I've watched all the episodes of the same British comedy horror web series on CZcams.
It's kinda very dark, bizarre and disturbing but it's also very funny and cute. I absolutely love this series. It appears to be a twisted version of an American children's television programme Sesame Street. It's definitely not for kids as it seems to be way too dark and frightening for them as we know.
Anyway Red is my favourite character in the series and my favourite teachers are Tony, Colin and Sketchbook in the series as well.

When you think about it, it’s not just the 3 of them in that house. The yellow guys dad is watching them through the wall and the woman in episode 6 is controlling them.
