National City: K9 Officer Attacked During Suspect Search

- 08.16.2018 | 11:30 AM | NATIONAL CITY - A police K9 tracking a robbery suspect was attacked by two smaller dogs, Thursday afternoon.
Police responded to reports of a robbery outside the Howard-Johnson Motel in the 500 block of National City Boulevard around 11:30 AM. Witnesses reported seeing a male robbing a female of her purse before fleeing.
Witnesses confronted the male suspect who threatened the witnesses before fleeing. Officers responded to the scene and were directed to the suspect's location by the witness.
As police, including K9 officer Chon, were tracking the suspect two smaller dogs became aggressive towards Chon. Chon's handler attempted to remove Chon from the area while another officer tried to scare the dogs away.
Eventually, one dog was tased and another was controlled by the owner.
The suspect, who is believed to be the pimp of the female victim, was apprehended on charges of robbery, kidnapping, terrorist threats, and human trafficking.
No serious injuries were reported.

most people underestimate k9s and first responders in general. it's very rare poorly trained civilian dogs are up to it, even if you shelled out for a breed. also most k9 dogs, in a life to death fight, go for the human. they are trained to ignore other animals and their own safety.

But there are only 2 neurons in their brains, so, besides drag the dog leaving his butt to be bite, the other officer has choose the aggressive way, because it's easier you know. And u are even worst, cuz u liked it.

I'm impressed at how game those two little Boston Terriers were. As far as they knew, they were doing their job, protecting their home, and were not intimidated by how much bigger the police K9 was. To his credit, the K9's handler knew that, and kept his partner from retaliating. Best of all, nobody was hurt and they got the perp. Props all around for everyone... Well, not the perp, so almost everyone.

Very good canine handler very good canine. The handler did a wonderful job making sure his dog didn’t get into a fight with those other two dogs. That canine did a very good job because he wasn’t reacting until he was actually being bit, kudos to both of you.
The police did a bad job. They should have said we are here to search for someone. But they didn't. There were no notice and that is why the homeowners dogs were outside during this search. It would have gone really badly for the cop and the pups.
How in the world do you know if he didnt react until he got bit

For my experience, my small dogs really are aggresive to strangers than our big dogs they just love playing and being petting.
Till a k9 dogs goes in your house or the police when u don’t want them too dogs sense fear and aggression

They can usually tell what humans around them are afraid of, angry at, etc. by simple body language in which they’re accustomed to read towards the people theyre around the most! Not to mention, a lot of smaller dogs, such as bostons, are aggressive towards other dogs in their home area. Those police officers barged in with another dog and guess what’s gonna happen? The homeowners should’ve been given time to put their dogs up or put them on a leash, but the officers didn’t give them that time. I’m not trying to disrespect the officers, but it is kind of on them-

Umm, apparently you have never met a Boston Terrier, which those two dogs are. They do not have little dog syndrome. They are bulldogs. May not be massive, but they are fierce and tenacious. Our Boston was defending our property, which these two were doing also, from a full grown German shepherd. She was 13 years old at the time, had trouble walking, with a bad heart and still would have died before giving up. I had to wrestle her away before she did. The K9 Officer was just trying to do his job, what a good boy.
Not all little dogs are like that. I've 5 chihuahuas as well big dogs and they aren't like. We'll actually if a stranger entered they would be as would my bigger dogs buts thats normal protection lol

That's why those handlers jobs are so tough. I doubt any of them see the dog as just a police tool. I can guarantee all the dogs are like family. It takes so much time to develop that bond.
We love our dogs like family too, there are hundreds of videos showing cops slaughtering 4 legged family members. End qualified immunity, make these tyrants obey the same laws they enforce.
