Melissa, I think a how to iron video, with tips about which clothing needs to be ironed, which clothing does not, how to go about it and alternatives, such as folding the clothes right out of the dryer, steamers etc would be incredibly helpful to a large part of your subscribers. Thanks !

I love ironing.....don't know why.....I just set up my board in front of the TV and have at it. I got one of those clothes steamer things and don't really like it that much....takes way too long to iron something. Best thing I ever saw was a friend would cover her kitchen table with a couple heavy quilts and just spread out a whole shirt and swish, swish, swish and she was done....she had 3 boys...4 if you count her hubby and their clothes always looked perfect. I asked her why not an ironing board and she said she had one but hadn't used it for years as it took too long. She was a mom who also worked full time.

You should make a video on ironing men's dress shirts.. I hate ironing mostly because I don't know how to properly do it. It takes me forever and I wind up creating more wrinkles sometimes.. Thanks! Love your videos!

It would be great if you could tell more about ironing, for example, how to iron a long dress, fancy decorations or plates on skirts and sleeves, men shirts and trousers. And what steamer can you recommend as a replacement of an ordinary iron? Thank you))

I love the BoNash ironing board covers. They are made with a space age fabric to reflect the heat and steam back to the surface. Iron both sides at once and also iron up to 6 layers at a time. Yes, quilters might want to iron 6 layers at a time. It is peal and stick, so a little bit tricky to put on, but way worth it.

Hi Melissa. Thanks for the foil paper tip. I never thought of that but it make perfect sense! I want to know how to iron pleated skirts properly without flattening the other pleats next to the ones I just ironed. Also how to properly iron women's slacks with an inner lining. I get so frustrated with slacks since washing them, the inner lining gets very wrinkle and gets in the way when ironing the outer part of of the slacks. Steaming does not seem to be a better option. I look forward to your response to these questions! Thanks again.

I'd like to see tips about ironing when traveling - what can you do if you don't have an ironing board? what are characteristics to look for in a good travel iron? do you think we need one at all? I know most hotels carry them, but isn't it smarter to use one you know, vs one that might not put out enough heat, spits when it steams, or that someone might have burned something with?

Sara OConnor All I Know is don't dry them in a dryer, especially a hot one. It will shrink Very Small! Check label to see if it can be dryed. I don't take the chance, I just wash, hang everything that needs to be hung on a hanger, No Need to iron anything! I Bought a steam, hang over the door gadget, + it's still in the box, lol! Some thing's like silk wrinkle, so I would iron those, but haven't worn any silk for years.

I do use FILTERED water to help reduce mineral deposits, and use the self-cleaning function from time-to-time, too. You look fantastic in this video M. And aluminum foil trick, I'll try to remember that one. (Strangely, I used to do all my ironing on a glass coffeetable and found it worked really well. Your thoughts?)
Questions for future ironing videos; the sooner the better :P as I like to look good but am also lazy and stupid with my clothes.
    1. How to iron ties that have been rolled up in storage but may still have (seriously) difficult creases to remove. Silk and synthetic.
2a. My all time *must know*: How to *remove* old creases in pant legs? (Washing and ironing out the creases over and over and over seems to be the answer, but would like to know a better way if possible, or if this *is* the way, then a confirmation)
2b. How to create knife-sharp creases in pant legs? I pretty much do this anyway (if I don't have knife-sharp edges on my pant legs, I feel immense lack of confidence and naked), but I notice sometimes I'll accidentally create a second crease and therefore see 2a. above. (For the record, to get knife-sharp edges, I find using a *lot* of moisture (sprayed water) and pressing iron outward from center of pant leg, outward and over the crease works wonders, but wasn't sure if this is the way pros do it.)
    3. Do men's collared shirts usually have creases in the arms? I can't find an answer to this! New shirts come with them. After washing, they tend to go away and I have a hard time trying to recreate them with an iron.
    4. How to iron the upper portion of pants, when you're trying to keep front and back pockets out of the way. I used to forget to move the pocket fabric out of the way, and some of my pants seem to have permanent "pocket" lines, which annoy me to no end.
    5. Best clothing materials to be ironed. And worst. For example, is ironing wicking (workout) shirts a bad idea? I never do, but I'm curious at any rate.
    6. Why do some sites recommend spray bottle over using the built-in iron steamer?
Looking forward to your video answering THOSE questions because until then, I will be succumbing to *iron* deficiency. My puns are pretty numerous too. :P

Car Guy- Kitchen Clothes- I NEED HELP!
PLEASE! Could you please cover specialty laundry care!? One of my household duties is the Laundry. My husband is a chef AND an avid car enthusiast. I also deal with cars, and get a lot of gasoline and grit on my clingy Polyester work shirt. We need help on keeping up with our working class fabrics!
Vinegar works wonders for his clothes, washing my work shirt on a gentle cycle, and hanging instead of using the dryer do well, but I need more information! (it's so much to research!) Poly-blends and linens most especially. I know they don't have the best shelf life, but what should I look for and how should I keep them up? Please Melissa Maker, you're my only hope!
**Also, anyone else still reading this, give this comment a thumbs up so CMY sees it; and 100% invest in microfiber. I am not a wealthy woman, and I refuse to waste my hard earned pennies on a paper towel. They did it in the 70's and we can do it now!

With a steam iron you need to put water in the iron when using the steam function, but for some reason my irons always seemed to leak water when it shouldn't. Instead of putting water in the iron I now use a spay bottle with water and just iron over that. I also didn't know about the tin foil method. Should try that.

Hi I'd like to know how to change the cover? There's some light scorch marks and seems flattened. Is there some padding I can add? I'm currently using the Leifheit brand of ironing board.

Love this video. I am doing a tutorial on ironing, to help encourage parents to teach their children fundamental life/home skills at an earlier age that 18. Can I post this video on my site?

I tried ironing with the foil on ironing board underneath the pad and it did not work or did not seem to change anything or speed up any time for me. And one other thing to note, it's very noisy when you iron with it under the pad. It creates noise when you iron.
