Your video was awesome! I’ve never painted before and I feel like I could give it a try. My husband is making wooden dog planters and to add a little wisp of hair would really set them off. Thank you again for sharing your skills!
I’ve been wanting to do a cat painting of may cat to enter into my local art show, I’m talented in drawing, so the sketch of the base is great, but I don’t want to start painting it, and it turn out not looking nice, especially the fur, so this video has given me more confidence to try! ❤️
I think this is the only video which make u learn properly how to draw fur...others r too fast and unable to understand.!! Thnkuu sooo mchhhh......this is the best video to learn fur!!
I’m so thankful for that! How are you Lauren? Your name stands out so much to me because my old before marriage was Lauren Medina. Haha now it’s Witsiepe. Hope you are doing well!
I found this in my search right before I started my 30x40" tiger. I'm sooooooo glad I did!!! You helped me in a huge way. I had painted fur on 8x10's and they are nowhere near as good as my tiger. A million thanks! 🙏
Thank you so much for nice tutorial. It’s really helps. I having tuff time with furs. I am biggner. After watching your video I learned lot about fur technique. Thank you so much for your precious time giving. I appreciate it.
I’ve been trying to paint my adorable white golden retriever forever, but always end up surrendering the canvas to the trash because I just can’t get the fur trick. I’ll be looking into your classes for sure. Thank you for taking the time to teach.
Debbie, white dogs can really be a challenge. If it's a golden retriever, I recommend usig a large flat brush and round brush and using a light grey base. Then gradually layer to lighter values using just white. Start from dark and work to the lightest whites. Sorry you've had such a hard time with this!
Lauren, your tutorials are very informative. Your God-given artistic talent is striking, as is your ability to teach. Question: Do you ever use a hake or a fan brush for painting fur? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. And may God bless you and your family.
I just found your channel and I like your approach to painting fur. I like most of it except for the curly hair. It is too straight and not very much curls. I just finished a portrait fir a curly hair small dog and I made sure the curls show so the owner will see the likeness. Your work is great. I paint in oils. Blessings, take care and be safe.
I'd recommend burnt sienna with burnt umber and some raw sienna. Depending on how dark your lab is add more or less burnt umber. That's a nice rich chocolate color! Good luck Tammy!
@@cooking1986 OH is it? I'm so sorry to hear this! We are doing very well. Things are looking better I think in illinois than it was. We are hopeful for a blessed winter!
Well, hair doesn't look realistic at all, you're not following the direction of the fur, edges are hard and what about glazing? Paint looks like a cartoon
You say you want to keep your brush clean as you work. How can you keep your brush clean when your water can is full of very dirty water!! I'm sorry I can't watch this channel that awful dirty water & the brushes in water brush side down puts me off.

Question: Do you ever use a hake or a fan brush for painting fur? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. And may God bless you and your family.
I actually dont. I use a rigger brush or normally a flat brush, small or medium. I find that does the trick pretty well. And thank you so much.
Your video is listed on VCAD's ecampus Life Drawing II course material :)
Not sure what that is. Can you explain. I just looked it up.

I can make more curly haired pet tutorials. Thanks for the helpful feedback!!
thank you what color are you using?
Raw Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Black, White, Burnt Sienna, and Orange. No prob!
I have a dark chocolate lab. His fur is solid brown. What colors should I use?
I'd recommend burnt sienna with burnt umber and some raw sienna. Depending on how dark your lab is add more or less burnt umber. That's a nice rich chocolate color! Good luck Tammy!
Could you do a tutorial on how to paint a brindle colored dog ?
That would have been great to add to this tutorial, huh! I should have. Ill add it to the list!

Lauren,
I couldn’t find the list of instructions to print out from the description. Can u give more instruction.
It's under "Download Video Notes" in the dropdown box. You may also see it says "show more", that's were you want to click.
When the brush is damp, it gets so much visible excess water onto the canvas surface. Do you know how to prevent that?
I recommend just a few dabs on a paper towel or cloth after you wash it off in your water. So you don't want it soaping wet, just damp.
@@laurenelizabethanimalart3215 oohh ok thanks!
