His mother told in an intervieuw that Dimash invited his dears in Kazakhstan in at there home for coffee,when he came back from China after the singer it was realy cold (winter) and they where waiting all night at his home outside with flowers for him and the flowers were frozen. Being a rocker chick for decades and I am old now lol, it's weird that a few weeks ago I got smitten by Dimash. I do appreciate good/great voices since I used to sing, but this guy has smashed every conventional style of singing and he, IMHO, is clearly the best singer in the world. This song has captured me into an imaginary world where I feel it would be a great theme song for a period drama of a modern day playboy who is very narcissistic and hurts people along his path. One day he wakes up in a strange and ancient land where as a stranger from another time, he has many trials and tribulations and near death experiences, only to find his worth and becomes a martial arts master/warrior and fights for his country and Emperor. And finds his beloved who takes and breaks his heart. But he perseveres to be with her and win her love and learns what sacrifice is all about. That instrument is a Kobiz or Qobyz. The qobyz has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. Traditionally kobyzes were sacred instruments, owned by shamans and bakses (traditional spiritual medics). According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death.
If you have a chance by yourself watch one of the airport arrivals, especially the early ones like 2018 or even the latest ones since Covid restrictions. He's always got a crowd of Dears walking with him and chatting like old friends. He recognises familiar faces and depending on how tired he is laughs and jokes or sings. He's even very protective of his Dears and will admonish airport security for ill treatment of his Dears. He has a beautifully goofy sense of humour and there is a whole series of videos called Dimash Moments where you get to see all the different sides of him.
My reaction is - that's so dangerous in this day and age, and with his popularity rising. Not everyone is a Dimash fan. My blood pressure rises, I just hope all these women on his staff are martial arts experts or something.

I did see a video of him in the airport where there were about 10 airport security guards holding hands encircling Dimash and his group the whole time they walked from one place to the next. If I were him I'd disguise myself as an old man in a wheelchair and get pushed peacefully through unrecognized.
That is a Qobyz, a traditional Kazak instrument. Here it is played by the genius musician, Olzhas Qurmanbek, considered world’s best at the instrument. Dimash has used him in many songs, notably SAMALTAU (Tokyo Jazz Festival version). You don’t press the strings to the neck, you hold them away from the neck at various tensions. One string for melody, one for resonance. I’m a double bassist so I’m fascinated! Dimash is a spectacle. He loves to perform live. There are only a few songs he performs that audiences can sing along to and they are well known Kazakh traditional songs. When he sings them he encourages his audience to accompany him. But he knows that most of what he sings is too difficult for us to participate. He tries to incorporate all his technical savoir wherever he can in his performances as well as his vast range. He is past the era of competitive singing, and I don't believe he enjoys being called the best voice in the world. He loves his art and wishes every artist to live up to their full potential. He is a role model for artists all around the world.
Oh without a doubt he is a humble man. But to us who are stunned by his voice, we find it very fitting to say he is the best singer in the world. BTW, what artist wouldn't appreciate that he is getting through to his fans to that extent? 😉😊

On Saturday was his German concert in Düsseldorf and they (staff) constantly brought him water or opened bottles for him. He always smiled at them, nodded or even bowed and one time he said, they are all my friends with such honesty that I got tears in my eyes! So yes is saw his humbleness by myself 3 hours long.... I knew it and saw it in interviews, but live its a experience that is outstanding.
I've been listening to Dimash not quite all day every day since being introduced to him on Opera 2 a year ago. Yes, it's an addiction and I don't have any desire to break it. He's the best in my 70 years of life.

This was an enjoyable reaction. Dimash premiered his newest song "Stranger" on August 19, 2021, during his performance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano and introduced Olzhas Qurmanbeck on the kobyz. Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement. Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying that “it was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way.” When Dimash first listened to the melody of "Stranger" he felt that the addition of a kobyz to the musical arrangement would give the song a unique, yet very fitting sound. Thus, the kobyz made its debut at the New Wave Hall at the Sochi Olympic Park, and what a great choice indeed. It is a beautiful sounding instrument that seems to underscore the song’s deep meaning. This wasn’t the first time that Dimash has featured Olzhas Qurmanbeck playing the kobyz. You can also enjoy him in a few of Dimash’s other performances such as Qairan Elim (official music video) and Samaltau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival). This is an amazing performance, one of, if not the best to date, in my humble opinion. Dimash traverses almost 5 octaves (C2-F6) in this performance. That stunning last note is a 19.7-second full mixed voice belt in F#5. The kobyz is a very old, traditional, and sacred instrument in Kazakhstan. The kobyz or kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today’s bowed instruments around the world, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called kyl kayak. The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot) or juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. The instrument consists of three parts: head (bas), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. It has two strings made from horsetail hair; one to provide melody and the other resonance. The bow is shaped like an archer’s bow, and its string is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool. The New Wave Music competition started in 2002, and for nearly two decades now has been one of the most iconic music events in Russia and other parts of the world. I am thinking that Dimash is way beyond music shows and competing. He should be pushing for much more. Even this SHINE contest show, it was clear from the start there was a massive gap between Dimash and everyone else. He is just too good for the likes of this now. Plus its not fair on the other competitors either, how could they compete. Plus if he didn't win it would look like a stitch up, which was the back lash from Singer to. 21st Technology doesn't hold you in one country, in the last two years he could have had a few on line concerts. Its a shame, Covid tripped him up just as he was kicking off in UK.

Great reaction guys thanks.. A few things about Dimash...he is made of music, there is no type of music he doesnt know about, and he will probably get around to doing most of them. He has been studying this since he was 5! So he is moving towards creating music thats combines many different styles/genres as he feels is needed. Increasingly his newest music makes you think "what genre is THIS now???" Its Dimash genre.. he is inventing and reinventing music. Luv your reaction, and I LUV DQ!! This is one of my MOST fav performances and songs - so EPIC, GRAND, LUSH and out of this world. He sang it again recently in China....sad he's having vocal troubles and is going to have to have a 3rd sinus operation according to comments. I knew something was wrong from the first note he sang in China and I was holding my breath in worry thru the whole thing. Let's all believe in miracles for this great talent that this obstacle will be overcome! We luv him so!!! Being a rocker chick for decades and I am old now lol, it's weird that a few weeks ago I got smitten by Dimash. I do appreciate good/great voices since I used to sing, but this guy has smashed every conventional style of singing and he, IMHO, is clearly the best singer in the world. This song has captured me into an imaginary world where I feel it would be a great theme song for a period drama of a modern day playboy who is very narcissistic and hurts people along his path. One day he wakes up in a strange and ancient land where as a stranger from another time, he has many trials and tribulations and near death experiences, only to find his worth and becomes a martial arts master/warrior and fights for his country and Emperor. And finds his beloved who takes and breaks his heart. But he perseveres to be with her and win her love and learns what sacrifice is all about.

The qobyz has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather.
Traditionally kobyzes were sacred instruments, owned by shamans and bakses (traditional spiritual medics). According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death.

If you have a chance by yourself watch one of the airport arrivals, especially the early ones like 2018 or even the latest ones since Covid restrictions. He's always got a crowd of Dears walking with him and chatting like old friends. He recognises familiar faces and depending on how tired he is laughs and jokes or sings. He's even very protective of his Dears and will admonish airport security for ill treatment of his Dears. He has a beautifully goofy sense of humour and there is a whole series of videos called Dimash Moments where you get to see all the different sides of him.
I also second reacting to Ikanaide from the Tokyo Jazz Festival. You think you have seen breath control in Stranger? You ain't seen nothing yet!
My reaction is - that's so dangerous in this day and age, and with his popularity rising. Not everyone is a Dimash fan. My blood pressure rises, I just hope all these women on his staff are martial arts experts or something.

That is a Qobyz, a traditional Kazak instrument. Here it is played by the genius musician, Olzhas Qurmanbek, considered world’s best at the instrument. Dimash has used him in many songs, notably SAMALTAU (Tokyo Jazz Festival version). You don’t press the strings to the neck, you hold them away from the neck at various tensions. One string for melody, one for resonance. I’m a double bassist so I’m fascinated! A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿 Edited to add: the performed range on this song is C2-F6 and he holds that last F#5 in full mixed belt for 19.5 second. As one does, lol

Dimash is a spectacle. He loves to perform live. There are only a few songs he performs that audiences can sing along to and they are well known Kazakh traditional songs. When he sings them he encourages his audience to accompany him. But he knows that most of what he sings is too difficult for us to participate. He tries to incorporate all his technical savoir wherever he can in his performances as well as his vast range. He is past the era of competitive singing, and I don't believe he enjoys being called the best voice in the world. He loves his art and wishes every artist to live up to their full potential. He is a role model for artists all around the world.

On Saturday was his German concert in Düsseldorf and they (staff) constantly brought him water or opened bottles for him. He always smiled at them, nodded or even bowed and one time he said, they are all my friends with such honesty that I got tears in my eyes! So yes is saw his humbleness by myself 3 hours long.... I've been listening to Dimash not quite all day every day since being introduced to him on Opera 2 a year ago. Yes, it's an addiction and I don't have any desire to break it. He's the best in my 70 years of life.

This was an enjoyable reaction. Dimash premiered his newest song "Stranger" on August 19, 2021, during his performance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano and introduced Olzhas Qurmanbeck on the kobyz. Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement.
Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying that “it was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way.”
When Dimash first listened to the melody of "Stranger" he felt that the addition of a kobyz to the musical arrangement would give the song a unique, yet very fitting sound. Thus, the kobyz made its debut at the New Wave Hall at the Sochi Olympic Park, and what a great choice indeed. It is a beautiful sounding instrument that seems to underscore the song’s deep meaning. This wasn’t the first time that Dimash has featured Olzhas Qurmanbeck playing the kobyz. You can also enjoy him in a few of Dimash’s other performances such as Qairan Elim (official music video) and Samaltau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival).
This is an amazing performance, one of, if not the best to date, in my humble opinion. Dimash traverses almost 5 octaves (C2-F6) in this performance. That stunning last note is a 19.7-second full mixed voice belt in F#5.
The kobyz is a very old, traditional, and sacred instrument in Kazakhstan. The kobyz or kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today’s bowed instruments around the world, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called kyl kayak.
The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot) or juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. The instrument consists of three parts: head (bas), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. It has two strings made from horsetail hair; one to provide melody and the other resonance. The bow is shaped like an archer’s bow, and its string is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool.
The New Wave Music competition started in 2002, and for nearly two decades now has been one of the most iconic music events in Russia and other parts of the world. It is an international contest for young performers of popular music. It was founded by Russian composer, performer, and music producer Igor Krutoy (seen here playing the piano) and Latvian pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls. Russian superstar Alla Pugacheva eventually joined as one of the show’s organizers. The contest usually lasts for six days: 3 contest days, 2 special event days, and the final day when the contest's results are announced and a final concert is performed. The television audience of the New Wave music competition numbers more than 200 million people. In 2018, Dimash debuted as a guest performer, performing his now legendary rendition of “Sinful Passion”. This year (2021) Dimash took part as a guest performer, as well as a judge. In this year’s finale, 11 participants from 9 countries will compete for the grand prize.
I am thinking that Dimash is way beyond music shows and competing. He should be pushing for much more. Even this SHINE contest show, it was clear from the start there was a massive gap between Dimash and everyone else.
It put me in mind of Singer, again he was head and shoulders above the other contestants.
He needs to aim higher.

He has been studying this since he was 5! So he is moving towards creating music thats combines many different styles/genres as he feels is needed. Increasingly his newest music makes you think "what genre is THIS now???" Its Dimash genre.. he is inventing and reinventing music. He sang it again recently in China....sad he's having vocal troubles and is going to have to have a 3rd sinus operation according to comments. I knew something was wrong from the first note he sang in China and I was holding my breath in worry thru the whole thing. Let's all believe in miracles for this great talent that this obstacle will be overcome! We luv him so!!!
