My respect for Botan has increased dramatically because of this.
Kiara was very hesitant to ask her even though we have been suggesting it for months. The reason is that she never talked with Botan before and Kiara didn't want their first interaction to be her asking something from her senpai. So only when the panic about her move set in did Kiara finally have the guts to ask.
But it seems Botan didn't mind - somehow Cover Corp has managed to find some of the greatest human beings on this planet and turn them into vTubers...

Anyone who was there remembers Kiara being a mess and a nervous wreck. She was super hesitant to bother Botan, but I'm glad she did it and Botan did exactly what we told her Botan would do: She helped. And she's happy to help. They may not be super close, but I like to think that the hololive members are kinda friends with each other. And there's no such thing as a bother when it comes to friends.

Ame knows this first hand. Her new PC was basically thrown right on her doorstep and it wrecked her first GPU. Fortunately she could get a replacement but it's like man, I know lugging around a heavy PC box is hard, but it's literally your job to take care of these packages.

ever wonder why those miners can get so many cards while us none? because they are more desperate than us. They are reaching up the supply chain and snatching it before it reaches the retail level. If you aren't as desperate as them, you don't get the card. Me and my friends did this, and we managed to secure a dozen for my circle of friends, while others are still crying no gpu yet not doing anything about it to solve it

Back to your question, we aren't living in US or China so we can't "call the manufacturer". So what we did is simply dig deeper, the price hike is pretty obvious after going through several middlemen, so sometimes u can rely on it being the cheapest price as your indicator, but you can't rely on it entirely because if you are not careful about it, u could fall for scams. Just make sure it has good ratings and good track records. Scammers don't have those
Next is to actively ask around, any of the suppliers u can find online, eventually u will find the few importers because they will tell you when the next shipment will reach, or that they are still waiting for the next shipment, basically they have ordered it, it's just a matter of time before they get it. Scalpers can't guarantee this because they don't know when they can secure a card
Everything Botan said is true. Finding a GPU is not hard(online) but very expensive. More expensive than a whole setup lmao and the couriers are deadly what it comes to PC parts. Ripped PCIe slots, messy cables, loose fans and dented case? oh no bro, oh no

I don't think that people are still hoarding GPU's for the sake of mining these days because of profit vs electric expenses. It's much better to resell it in higher price rather than uses it for mining.

Since the GPUs are undervolted when mining, to conserve power, they function just fine second-hand. At most you might need to replace the fans.
I'm still confused with how mining with GPUs works however i do understand that buying new ones for now isn't worth it guess i'll stick to my 1070 a little more while
@@matasa7463 It's not insanely profitable now compare to couple years ago because of insane GPU prices vs. electricity bills vs. coins price even you undervolted your GPU doesn't help that much especially when you're running multiple GPUs. Most of the people now are prefer buying coins instead of mining them except for the days that the coin prices goes up high again, but the overall profit and hassle is not that worth it anymore when you can get the same profit by buy/selling coins instead of mining them.

Like she finds out there was a mix-up with the bags, so she tracks down the guy who got her bag, but finds out he gave the bag back to someone else, so she tracks this person, which turns out to have given away the unneeded GPU. Basically, it keeps going until she finally comes to the person that has the GPU, which is her own family member.

Yeah but they have shown that the language barrier is not that problematic depending of the game, Mei made a collab with Ame, Aqua played with Ame offstream too, Ina, Cali and Kiara can speak japanese.

Yeah I can see FPS games work well since the main focus of them is the gameplay, and they are pretty good collab choices.
But, to be honest, the Ame X Mei collab was a bit awkward.
Don't get me wrong. It's still entertaining, and I was impressed that the oppai talk and the in-chat translators made it work, but they aren't the solutions to every collab.
Like, things went really wrong in the international Among Us collab when language barrier was present.
I know Kiara, Ina and Calli speak Japanese. However, there still are difficulties to be overcome.
Calli still lacks confidence in her Japanese and they might not always be part of collabs.
Despite the aforementioned, I am not saying JP/EN collabs are out of the question, but they need to find a way to minimize the negative effects of language barrier.

She wants to collab, and Ina wants to collab, but Senchou isn't confident enough in her English to maintain basic conversation without a translator, and doesn't want to put pressure onto Ina to speak Japanese.
Mad respect to all of these girls for trying to find a balance that works for them across the branches, especially those who are actively making an attempt to learn another language so they can interact better with their friends and fans, like Korone or Senchou
by disassembling the cpu in long delivery, you prevent the connectors gets some stress by the shock on road. bubble wrap them, then place in the wooden box if you wanna extra safe, though normal cardboard is fine.

It was the reason why chat was bombarding Tenchou to actually take care of her Graphics Card (we can't blame her though, it was a stressful week for since it was a really tight schedule with the streams and as she prepares to properly leave the country). So I'm glad Botan-senpai actually said it to Tenchou herself.

Whether from Japan or Austria Kiara is 9 times zones away from the US-West coast which can really make scheduling with anyone from there difficult.

Honestly I can relate to Kiara--not on the international moving sense, but I run into more tech problems than I care to count, and I've been incredibly fortunate to have met a person online who knows so much more about that stuff than I ever will. I know how valuable having a friend like that can be.

Given that nobody will fuck with the Cargo department of any delivery company at the time of Kiara's homecoming. It should be fine. As was said about proletariat services in ancap societies, never mess with the people that handle your well-being (chefs, housekeepers, delivery helpers) , because at a moment's notice they might and a court hearing will be the least of their concerns.
That GPU tips is so true. Botan definitely has her gamer tech knowledge. Would definitely hold the GPU and protect it right now since the price of those GPU are crazy expensive and harder to get at MSRP(depending on the country pricing and availability) .
this is the first Hololive related video that actually made me worried and anxious of my GPU which i had since late summer 2015 and had recently upgraded my CPU this January wish me luck boys! and god damn i still doubting on that RTX 3060 stock later 2021-2022 or at least AMD.
You generally don't have to disassemble a PC for shipping. The major issue that could occur while shipping is the graphics card putting stress on its socket, but putting foam underneath, adding an anti-sag bracket, or shipping the PC flat would all work fine to mitigate that issue.

@@HekmatyarLogistics Argentina. Basically due shortage , things like GTX1660 Super goes up to $1541 to $1600 in my currency due this. Meanwhile the 5500XT goes around $1190. GPUs who were around half of that price at around December last year. And all of that with the f*ing import price and taxes my country has too. Literally , last year i could get a 2070 Super if i wante by less than that price, but i had to buy 1st a new CPU , Ram and mother for that ... and i did that instead.

I got this PC ready made and was so impressed with how they packed it i'd consider leaving it intact if i moved, just cram it with anti static bubble wrap so nothing can move.
This reminds me when she was fixing other member's problem with games and softwares, and, Lamy came up with the phrases, "She knows everything, Shishiro Botan Tech Support Service." and "She can fix every problem, Shishiro Botan Tech Support Service."

I was wondering if Botan would go the disassemble route, or the stabilize & pack internals in one piece route. Shipping it all in once piece is also fine with good internal stabilization (need appropriate materials on hand), and probably more desirable if the person (Kiara) has basically never touched computer internals before. Large CPU cooler, GPU, and other large devices (maybe Kiara has PCIe capture card) are definitely the right things to take apart for disassemble route, but I think removing RAM is usually unnecessary. Hoping nothing crazy happens in shipping and Kiara gets it all in one piece back home!
Removing RAM is necessary. If they handled your PC badly the RAM could break. RAM is small anyway can be easily carried in your hand carry backpack instead of being put into the luggage.

But, I don't think you can make that claim about removing RAM actually being "necessary" with such a strong level of certainty. For example, watch top tech youtuber (LTT, etc...) content on shipping PCs, and the general consensus is removing RAM is usually unnecessary. Keyword--usually. If you're removing it, it's more for peace of mind/convenience than actual potential impact on shipping.

Yeah.. Some GPUs are impossible to find even if you have the money. They usually go out of stock in 2 minutes because there is no captcha protection.
I had to move from my country and only mailed the case with the motherboard with CPU attached. The rest of the components went with me in my hand bag in their boxes wraped in bubble wrap.
I once commiteed the mistake of not taking out the CPU cooler and was destroyed, luckily it was only a 30€ loss

Botan hit the nail on the head on that. I still haven't been able to get a good GPU after looking for three months.
Taking out the RAM is probably overkill, it's really all about removing anything that will cause any torque. So your graphics card because it weights a lot and if it gets moving it can rip out your PCIe slot. Your CPU cooler, especially if you have an air cooler, where you have a lot of mass held away from the motherboard, that, if it gets moving, will rip itself free and break your board, and possibly damage the CPU. SSDs are probably fine, but they weight nothing, are easy to remove, and can just be thrown into your bags to travel with. HDDs should be carried with you as the platters do not deal with shock well at all. Fans, motherboard, CPU, RAM, power supply, cabling, etc... are all fine to be shipped in the case, though make sure your side panels are well secured (through some masking or painter's tape around the case to hold them on, it will come off without damaging the finish and will also act as a way to tell if someone has been looking inside).
Botan did everything right though. I'm not surprised though, she's shown herself to be very knowledgeable about computers, both hardware and software, before. She's right about the GPU too, I was very lucky to get a Strix OC 3080 back in December and I could never imaging letting someone else touch it, let alone ship it. If I needed to travel it would be cradled in my arms like a newborn the entire flight.
Even if there wasn't a GPU shortage, protecting a GPU with your life is pretty much the main thing of a computer, because in some setups, the GPU accounts for over half the price of the entire thing, so if you had to pick the one thing to have protected at all costs, maybe the thing that costs an arm and a leg would help.
I would personally remove the CPU, GPU, cooler, RAM, and SSDs. I kept the packaging and would keep the RAM, CPU, GPU, and SSD in my own personal bags. I would be okay shipping, and therefore completely losing, the case, the PSU, the motherboard, and the cooling systems. The motherboard is worth protecting but simply too big to carry-on, and usually is okay during shipping if nothing big like a GPU or air cooler is attached.

best way to move around a desktop pc to use AIO as cooler and have a graphic card anti sag that hold the gpu in place on top the compress air pack that the boutique builder put their computer it will survive the trip .

Taking out and hand carrying the GPU is probably a good idea, though the rest could have done with buying the instapak foam for the internals and then packing it the way they did is fine.
That's what she did.
Air cooler can cause a lot of torque on the motherboard, so she removed that. Ram sticks were taken out as well for safety. GPU pulled out and kept separately.
The only thing Kiara has to do once home is stick the RAMs in, stick the GPU in and plug the 8-pin connectors back in, then put a bit of thermal paste onto the CPU and stick the big aircooler back on. She won't have to rewire anything at all.
Yup. GPU is worth more than gold now LOL. You can't find any at decent prices. I got rx 6800 soon after launch at 5% above MSRP coz my old card died. Thought it was a bad deal coz of the mark up but 2 months without a working PC stressed me out too much. Thankfully I didn't wait to see if prices would drop.

What I have told by my friend is that transporting PC parts is a big coin flip. So find the one courier service you trust most. Then as an added protective measure, wrap the most important, fragile parts in layers of cloth
