i remember this...rewatching this gives me such chills. It's like tonight with Boesers goal
I was there. Me and my bud Stu. When Cooke scored it was crazy. Everyone was hugging...cheering ...yelling.
But when Calgary won....it was complete silence. You could hear a pin drop. All the way from walking from our seats to the car. And the drive back to Kamloops was quiet as well.
I was at this game, and can still feel the rink exploding when Cooke scored, and remember how loud the excitement was in the concourse prior to the overtime, then boom- Gelinas scores as soon as it starts and it’s all over. What a letdown.
Jarome Iginlia was unbelievable, had one of the most dominant games I’ve seen in 50 years of watching hockey…
Been a while since we’ve had a nuclear crowd reaction like this. A unique time to be a Canucks fan then.
Burrows game 7 against Chicago was the craziest by far
@@Cobra85291 still been over 10 years 😔
@@Jeremy-yh8lv game 4 vs nasheville, almost the exact same play too
Not game 7 but this just happened again. Boeser just repeated the same emotions I went through watching this as a kid. Go canucks go
3:21 Really miss that goal horn.. I know its currently still a part of the new set of three horns they blast together now but I loved this horn on its own.
Love my Canucks no matter what happens.
I much preferred the overtime in this game.
Thanks for this high quality upload dude!
LOL at Jovo in the box losing his shit
Ference still gets the last laugh.
Still in there when Gelinas scored
Editor note: for the radio call, Team 1040 was not yet the Canucks' rightsholder. This call would have aired on CKNW 980. 1040 broadcast the games starting in 2006-07 season and ending in 2016-2017.
Oh man, how did I mess that up 🤦♂
Description has been updated but that's the best I can do here.
i remember watching this game on tv we loss in OT vs Calgary
I was about 14 me and my dad and uncle went to the Condon's house to watch the game. When Iginla shot on the empty net I went to the washroom to take a leak. I remember being so mad we lost. Then all of a sudden everyone started screaming and I couldn't believe it and I stopped peeing and ran out to the tv room yelling.
RIP Dave Strader
Markus Naslund and Steve Montador too.
@@dannythomas417 Montador for sure, but thankfully Markus Naslund is still with us.
@@michaelwhitaker9719 Oh, I see. Poor Montador later ended up with Toni Lydman several years later
And then Gelly scored the game 7 overtime series winner. GO FLAMES GO
Man i miss Tommy Larscheid on the colour commentary.
Not that the goal meant anything, but how was the play not called when that fan threw their jersey on the ice? Baffling. My favourite part of that goal and the subsequent OT winner by Gelinas , is that Special Ed was still in the box. Great before and after.
I mean, are games nowadays called for a single jersey thrown on the ice? Never seen that happen.
@@yosoo33 not called, as in over, but that play should be blown down
Wow i had never heard the ESPN call ... didn't know there was another feed. 3 epic calls... always get goosebumps watching it. Bertuzzi doesn't stay suspended for the playoffs, Canucks win that series in 4 and crush tampa in the final too.
What a shame it had to happen like that but at least we got this epic moment + the BMO goal the night before
The Flames had serious trouble since their cup win in 89. No series wins in 15 years. Now it's 17 years later and only one series win.
I miss the old Canucks goal horn.
In my 12 years of watching hockey (and simultaneously watching hours upon hours of highlights of older games) why have I never seen this, and why has no one else talked about this? Tying a game 7 with 5 seconds left seems like something we would never stop talking about, like I’m surprised a broadcast has never showed this during a game 7 when the team pulls their goalie to show an example of a late game 7 comeback. Anyways I’m rambling, I assume it would have got more attention had the Canucks won in overtime.
Its all we talk about in Calgary. Was the craziest game ever.
@@Adam-rx5fr Ya seems like it eh, so bizarre this is the only video I’ve seen show this late game tying goal. Other crazy game 7s like the Leafs Bruins 2013 and Sharks Knights 2019 get a ton of attention, but this one seems like it would be in the same ballpark as those.
Canucks lost that's why...no comeback win
Probably doesn't get much attention because the Flames scored in OT on that same powerplay😂 Still one of the best series I've ever watched. Game 6 was nuts too
Anybody notice the Ref picking up the Sweater thrown on the ice, causing him to miss Iginla getting interfered with @ 0:12
Years ago I whined that should've been a penalty, but looking back on that play iginla should've held on to his stick tightly. Players dropping their sticks shouldn't be penalties and Iginla complaining and tripping over said stick didn't help either
Lmao, Morrison slashing Iginla's stick off of his hands
Didn't they lose it in OT in short order though?
I’m still in the belief they need to bring back ole ole ole by the bouncing souls back in 2024-2025 season. The roof would collapse if the fans were rocking the building singing that song
0:12 that's a missed penalty that had a profound effect on the game clearly. you can't do that
It was a different game back then.
You think they’re calling that in a one goal game , game 7 on the team that’s down a goal with 15 seconds left ??? That woyld never get called in a million years
It’s a tap on the stick. Hold on to your stick.
Waited until the trailing ref reached down to pick up that shirt and then chopped the stick out of Iginla’s hand. That’s just a heads up play by Morrison tbh
Flames won in the end and then they lost Game 6 at home... hahahaha. Joel Otto curse.
The original patrik stefan empty net miss
Came here after idiot McLean just announced Brendan Morrison scored this goal in game 7 to tie it up after Iginla fell over his stick. Couldn't remember what year it was and called it Morrison's most spectacular goal🙄 Probably thinking of the previous game.
As a stat nerd myself, my biggest pet peeve are when analysts say the wrong things based on their faulty memory, and not based on knowing the facts. I’ve noticed it a lot in these playoffs where here and there the commentators might say the wrong name or say the wrong year, etc.
Game 7 Cooke scored on a play with Iginla tripping on his stick. Morrison scored the OT3 winner in game 6. Mcleans wires are just a little crossed
All for naught.
