    dearmoon.earth/share_crew/kar...
    Karim Iliya was born in the UK in 1990.
    Karim is a photographer, filmmaker, whale swimming guide based in Iceland and Hawaii.
    He grew up in the Middle East and Asia and developed a curiosity for the natural world. This has brought him alongside battling whales, amidst exploding volcanoes, deep within the ice worlds of the Arctic, and into many of the fascinating places that humans and animals make their home.
    Karim uses photography and video to show a unique perspective and uncover new underwater worlds that few have the opportunity to see. His focus is on documenting whales, birds, and other threatened species in an effort to advocate for the protection of delicate ecosystems on Earth for generations to come.
    Karim has worked in over 45 countries, won multiple awards, been published in National Geographic Magazine and BBC Earth, and co-founded Kogia, a non-profit media library and film team dedicated to ocean conservation.
    Throughout his life he has been fascinated by the hidden mysteries in our universe, from the smallest creatures and the deepest seas, to the great vastness of space.

    Can people thumbs up this so he sees my comment please? this is what I would like to see, the rarest and best view of them all - a realistic view of the star lit "sky" taken when the spacecraft is in the shadow of the moon for minimal light interference, with the exposure, brightness and contrast settings adjusted to match what a person would see with his own eyes. Only a few people like Michael Collins have witnessed this view.

    I just think pictures of brilliant Stars taken through the starship viewing port should be awfully cool. (Because of the relative luminance of other bodies I suggested the shadow of the Moon, facing away from Earth or anything that might dim out the Stars.) It's called "Starship" after all even though it's never practically going to a star. At least we need to get some photos of stars!! The recent Artemis 1 live cameras are really cool but I don't remember seeing much starlight..

      Thank you so much for asking it. I was going to feel very uncomfortable asking the same thing. It makes absolutely no sense why he should be labelled with the British flag. I mean, if you are born in a country that is one thing, but if you don’t even live there anymore, your parents never were from there, and you don’t even represent that country for a particular endeavour, it shouldn’t be your flag of representation. That makes absolutely no sense. I was really looking forward to watching this, and although his photography is amazing, this revelation has left a rather sour taste in the mouth. As a result of this, looking at all of the candidates, I realise now there actually is no one actually from Britain taking part in the deer moon project. This is quite sad. We deserve a representation yet on the actual list, it’s made up of four Americans (4, are you kidding me. Someone has definitely been pushing money for this to happen on the US side) and only one person from all of the other countries involved. Literally the closest thing we’ve got to a Briton here right now is the amazing photographer from Ireland. Britain deserves to have two representatives on the crew for the deer moon mission, let alone one. But here, it seems we’ve completely fallen down the wayside.
      Shame on the project organisers for this.😞

      @@Syritis he may have been but wasn’t raised there and his parents aren’t from there and he doesn’t live there. Having that as his flag makes no sense. This result now means there are no Britons actually on the crew at all. Huge disappointment to say the least, as this is supposed to be an international endeavour, yet, there are really four, or if you include him, five Americans going up. • @danielwhyatt3278
    @danielwhyatt3278 Před rokem +1

    Really don’t get why he has the British flag here. I’m afraid we’ve all been tricked. Almost like a reverse Clickbait. Apparently he was born in the UK, but apart from that he has absolutely no connection to the country if anything, he has more of a connection to the US than anywhere else. This is hugely disappointing as it now basically means there are more like five people from the US going up, whilst everyone else only gets one representative, and it seems now that Britain is not included. This’s a huge slap in the face to the world really.
    This isn’t an insult towards those people who are going up, as they definitely deserve it, but in terms of making sure that the candidate selection is wide enough to have a diverse example of the nations of the world, dear moon is definitely failing here and I really didn’t think that was going to happen. These choices really need to be changed here so that at the most only two Americans are going up. This will free it up so that other people from perhaps Britain and somewhere else in Europe, as well as Asia can go.

    How is this guy British ? You have the Union Jack on his profile like he's British, he's not. Just another American chosen for this project.

    • @danielwhyatt3278
      @danielwhyatt3278 Před rokem +1

      Exactly. It didn’t make any sense. Apparently he was born in Britain but that is literally it. It feels like they’ve done that as close as they possibly can because without that, it appears there really aren’t any people on this project after all from Britain, which is absolutely horrific. There are four Americans on this project to go around the moon, but only one person from each of the other countries involved. That isn’t fair at all, especially as the people who are going up didn’t even have to pay for their tickets, so it’s definitely not a case of Brits not being able to afford it. I have a feeling this wasn’t just a case of the most skilled/appropriate people to do the project, but simply a case of possible financial backing, forcing the deciders to put majority Americans on it. Is the only real logical explanation really, considering there are actually now 8 billion bloody people on the planet. At the very least there should be two Britons on the crew, let alone one. The US has really done a disservice here and this needs to be changed. Thankfully, with the current Lepeland schedule, there is time for them to fix this to remove some Americans from the list and actually get a Britain involved, and perhaps some other people from Asia and Europe.

    • @Lazarusart
      @Lazarusart Před rokem

      @@danielwhyatt3278 yep they are just trying to look as 'International' as possible, but NASA is involved and we know how security conscious they can be with non-Americans. So glad Tim Dodd is going though he really deserves this opportunity. He's put in some hard relevant work.
