    Thanks to Pierre's students Juan and Maria Balboa, there is an excellent English translation (line by line with the original Greek) of Proclus's Elements that did not exist at the time of this lecture.

    this always reminded me of William burroughs' cut-ups. it implies that this can and has been applied in pure aesthetics as well, that is, poetically, and not just prosaically. although there is not so much prose as high poetry and dramatic profundity in the greeks.

    The good of an analogy is measured by the degree of it's Isomorphy with experience/perception of Reality/Life.
    1. Wholeness
    2. Balance
    3. Optimum - between the extremes of too much and too little.
    Wholeness is all - inclusive.
    The all - inclusive is a continuum.
    The balance (just so) between the extremes of too much and too little is always to be found in the optimum relating the poles of the continuum of Wholeness.
    Receiving to bestow is always good to go.
    Cresting the wave bypasses the grave.
    The Absolute functions as a diversified unity that actualizes as a unified diversity or Uni - verse.
    1. Innermost
    2. Midmost
    3. Outermost.
    For the Absolute to function as a continuum, the innermost has to trade places with the midmost to convert outermost to innermost and innermost to outermost.
    For innermost being to unite with outermost experience, it has to trade places with midmost awareness. It can then convert outermost experience (impressions) into innermost awareness (learning) and convert innermost awareness into outermost experience (dreaming one's experience and experiencing one's dream of dwelling on all things lovely and of good report), to experience completion of joy in form, creating desirable outcomes, which is fulfillment.
    1. Mind
    2. Heart
    3. Will
    Harmonizing or uniting the perspective of the mind with the attitude of the heart motivates or empowers the will to take action thereby transforming the disparate elements of the Psyche into an integrated Soul.

    I'm curious as to the origin of the 4 criteria for Beauty - they are powerful givens without much of a "logos" behind them. In particular, I don't understand the differentiation between order and pattern.

    this video touches me, thankyou,
    When you ask if I agree, i say
    I see what you say, but don't necessarily agree yet, though I may, we'll see... You say: (paraphrase)
    A : B :: B :C
    .. .. .. ..
    .. ..
    B : A :: C : B
    .. ..
    .. .. .. ..
    B : C :: A : B
    .. ..
    .. .. .. ..
    C : B :: B : A
    ..... On the "ring of b's;
    what if we consider a and b alone, a to b as distinct from b to a , then
    "A:B::B:C" becomes "A:B:/:B:A"
    or "a:b:/:b:a" .
    If we denote > as 'to' or 'toward' and < as 'by' or 'from' (NOT necessarilly greater or lesser) Then we COULD denote a:b:/:b:a AS :
    a as a>b is A
    b as ba is C
    a as a

      that was only up to 20+ minutes, so i still have to see what else, but it's important when we're asked if we agree to say "hold on, wait just a minute ..." if we need to, and if we disagree we must express that disagreement as an outcroppung of learning or knowledge or exposing our weakness to our teachers so they may supply the understanding that will correct our error, OR present the next challenge to strengthen our Saulve

    • @trixy8669
      @trixy8669 Před 2 lety +7

      Aristotle completely abandoned Platonism for a far more physical interpretation of the world. Aristotle couldn't handle the abstract property of natural philosophy and therefore sought empiricism as a weak refuge. This might also be why he wasn't very respected in his day and ended up as a hermit in he middle of nowhere.

    Divine = Creative
    The bond of analogy to Reality is Isomorphy.
    Ratio = Optimum: the optimum (Heaven), is always found somewhere between the extremes of too much and too little (hell).
    Transformations = Law of Equivalence - Metaphorical Mutation.
    Beauty = union of harmony and symmetry.
    Beauty is the Rose found at the Heart of the Optimum.
    Justice = Just so.
    Unity = Integral
    Inner Spiritual Life to outer carnal life is as free-fall letting it happen is to the onerous labor of making it happen.
    Principle: Reality (That which is/That I am).
    Property: All-inclusive Continuum of Being.
    Attribute: Creative Intelligence.
    We transform our instinctive will to receive into the Devine Will to bestow, by asking for what can be shared with others (Wisdom and Understanding).
    Cause and effect:
    Sow wheat, harvest wheat, not potatoes.
    Sow well, harvest well.
    Sow poorly, harvest poorly.
    We either build on the rock of Truth, or on the sands of opinion.
    The temporal is the timely Parade of the Eternal.
    All things are composed of the Gods.
    Philosophy = Pursuit of Wisdom:
    Since to seek Wisdom and Understanding is the wisest thing that one can do, Wisdom is the principle thing. Therefore get Wisdom and with all thy getting, get Understanding.
    As the eye is a lamp unto the body, so is perspective to the Mind. Therefore, if your eye (perspective) on Life be single (all-inclusive), then your whole Being will be full of Life, and the Light of Wisdom and Understanding.
    Metaphysics = Nature of Reality:
    The all-inclusive nature of Reality is to 'Serve' as the Infinite, Eternal Continuum of Being, that functions as a diversified unity of potential (Creative Intelligence), actualizing as a unified diversity or Uni-verse.
    Ontology = Way of being:
    Freedom is a Way of Being, Knowing and Doing. Being aware of being aware is the resonant state frequency closest in alignment with the frequency of the all-inclusive Absolute, where all things are possible (Wisdom and Understanding).
    Epistemology = Gnosis (experiential knowing):
    Reality = That which is/That I am.
    Knowledge = What is known of Reality experientially.
    Understanding = Knowing how to apply the Knowledge gained from experience.
    Wisdom = Competent application of Understanding (Know How).
    Tao = Law of Reversal.
    Every arrival is a new point of departure. Thus, the aim of Spiritual development is to become a Master Wayfarer, because the only destination is a new integral Way of Being.
