Have owned many different breeds over the course of my life, but the greatest joy was my Dachsie who made it to 17 years, and I know I will miss him for the rest of my life.

Never in my life have I been loved so much by my dog! Always, always have had a sidekick dog..but NEVER had a mutual understanding of love till my Penny licked my tears while I profusely cried over loosing a loved one! She stays by myself every chance we get! She sleeps right under my blanket touching my leg♡ if only humans could be so kind! Aloha to all Doxie lovers!!!❤

10 month old black and tan... mischievous, stubborn, playful, joy to our 70yo lives... keeps us on our toes... such a character...
Yes we have a miniature Dachshund called Harry. He’s just over one year old and is a very good little boy. His problems are - pooping in the house if it’s raining because he hates the rain (unless he’s out there with my golden retriever girl and terrier mix boy) but despite being entire he doesn’t scent mark in the house - he also likes to dig up the garden but I know that’s in their nature. He doesn’t bark much but people are surprised when he does because his bark is so strong, like a dog much bigger than him. He’s our first Dachshund and a loving little boy who adores every customer that comes into the shop, loves my grandsons and is always up for a cuddle. He’s a gorgeous little boy. 💙
We have had 4 dachshunds we raised, 3 of the 4 had back problems my 4th one Mocha had surgery and lived a wonderful full life, she passed at 17 years old, of old age. My first one Suzze was a living doll we loved her so very much. I came home from work one day noticed her dragging her back end and crying from the pain. We rush her to the vet to be told that her back had a ruptured disk. What happened next was to put her down (which I would have never agreed to see was only 2 yrs old), or go through a long long recovery process. So Suzze was put on pain medicine, and steroids, put in confinement, I lined a dresser drawer with pillows, baby blankets, and potty pads to keep her immobile. This continued for several weeks. My son would come home at he's lunch time to give her her medicine and would call me at work to report on her. Once the medicine started working her pain had subsided she was wagging her tail, and eating so food. Our vet said we could try letting her walk with her front legs so we made a harness to go around her tummy, plus support her back. It took her time to adjust to walking on her front legs but we think she finally enjoy being out and about. This we a long process but in our hearts we kept faith that it helped. Our next exercise was filling the bathtub with warm water place her in tub holding her tummy and lower back then hold her and go back and forth to get her to patil back an forth. Dogs natural instinct is to swim. After thinking I had broken my ribs doing this 2 time a day😬 for weeks she started kicking her back legs. It was the most exciting thing to see. We all knew she will recover a walk again🎉🎉🎊🎊 Our vet was so happy with her progress he lowered the amount of medicine we had been giving her🙃🙃. At that point we moved her dresser drawer into my husband and my bed between us. It was so nice having her next to us again. At night my husband would take her out to potty in the back yard. We did this for a few weeks, and then one night I heard a blood curtailing scram it was about 2 am in the morning it scared the hell out of me and our sons. Then we heard my husband crying Suzze can walk.....we all sat there watching her walk slowly and wobbly🎉🎊😢😢 crying holding her with so much excitement and love🐾🐾🐕🐕🐶🐶💞💖💋💋🎊🎉
She lived a happy health life for 11 more years. We 'd all do it again in a heart beat💖
Randy, Chris, Brian, and Kevin Sommetfeld
Beautiful story😢
👍Really great to hear about your dedication and love for the doggy. Your commitment is truly amazing!
Wow! What a heartwarming story!❤
Glad you went against the vet I love my little guy Alf he is funny all the time
I read every single word. Amazing 👏 🤩
My Waddles was a laid back, non yappy, happy go lucky Dauchshund. He bonded with me and my younger daughter. I miss him so much. He was 17 years old. He was the best and the epitome of good health.
I've had dachshunds for over 57 years. I love them so much. They are so loving.
My Penny is 16 and still doing well. She had a back surgery 10 years ago. She is the best dog ever(for me)
Doxie parent here, we have Frankie Beans age 13, dapple, Simon Peabody age 1.5 black and cream, Lulabelle, age 1.5 all black. My gang are all Long Haired. We couldn't love them more! We had Lily and Oliver originally which are Frankie Beans parents. We lost them both during the pandemic. Our hearts were totally broken. Frankie howled and cried every day after his parents passed. When we brought home the two younger pups for him he started to heal. They are sensitive dogs for sure!
Yes, I've had several Dachshunds, my last one just passed away May 1,2023 she was 14 years 3 months 6 days... I miss her so much....
I miss my Roxy. She died suddenly about a month ago. She was 11 and my other foxie died 3 years ago at 15.
I have a dachshund mix, but I believe it is mostly of the dachshund breed. I adopted him at the Humane Society and he is such a great companion!
I've had doxies all my 80 years of life! In spite of their DNA stubbornness, I absolutely love, appreciate this breed. At times I feel my Snickers, age 8, is smarter.
I have my first one and boy are we learning alot...he has us trained!!
We have two mini dachshund puppies, 7 and 4 months old! The older one rarely sleeps during the day, the younger one tires very easily and can sleep all day! Their energy is never ending, especially at night when it’s time to go to bed. This breed is truly a challenge, I am finding, with their bathroom habits. Thank goodness for vinyl flooring! I love my boys❤❤❤
Just be patient and very consistent, they will come out of that , I promise !!
With love, a dachshund Mom 🐾🐾🐾🧡💙🧡💙
I failed to properly train my Dashound as a pup now hes the Big BosS Man around here ! I have very little say so these days.😂
He is a Dachshund lol
I got mine gently used (he was 3). It was a lost cause. Probably because I am lazy.
I have had Dachshunds all my life because that is dog breed my parents loved. Yes they are stubborn and love food. They are very loyal too. :)
My husband came home from a business trip with a rescue daschund . His was ted in color and had a very small bottom jaw. Bob was protective of his family, and property. He went everywhere with us in the RV. But most of all, Bob was was very affectionate and loved our pug, Molly. Even though I am pug person, I would definitely get another daschund because Bob mafe is by laugh and “loved” us unconditionally. I miss him.
yes , I am a dachshund mom and I love that !!!🥰
We have 3 dachshunds, one is 15 years old, the other 2 are 8 and 9 months old. Love the breed.
My last 2 dachshunds lived for 18plus years & 16 years, hope my new sweet little girl lives a long healthy lifestyle ❤️
My dachshund has owned me for 13 years. He is the sweetest guy and lovable that he does have a problem sometimes with other male dogs. Otherwise he's Casanova and he loves girls. He's kissing. He's got one half dachshund downstairs that they're in love. They're like lady in the tramp and he is my darling I would. I don't know what I will do when it's two when he's too old and I would never be without him. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your dachshund
For potential dachshund owners - that stubborn streak doesn't abate after foundational training, it's in their DNA. That said, the rewards in maintaining discipline/continued reinforcement of good behavior will make this a beloved pet :)
In my experience, Doxies aren't big fans of winter & snow so walks are reduced to simply getting their 'business' done during subfreezing weather, and back under a blanket on your lap asap :)
Huh, our wiener Ozi adores the snow!! He jumps like a goat🤣🤣🤣
@Dusan - how fun! Nothing like watching a doxie jump gleefully into new snow :) Mine doesn't want anything to do with the cold white stuff - a couple of times mis-judging porch to walkway depth of snow, resulting in only little nose visible in drift, makes her wary :)

I had a mini Black and Tan Doxie whom I loved very much. There’s nothing like the personality of a Daschund to grab your attention. He made us laugh every day and he was a sweet , warm lap dog too. Every morning he would go sit on my husbands lap where the two of them would howl a few tunes. I miss him still. Once I had a Doxie it’s really the only kind I would get again.
And when he had to go out in the snow I would put two coats on him and he was happy .
@@sueroork8452You are right about two coats for very cold weather. We use a stretchy, close fitting fleece under a water repellant coat.
I loved my doxies! I didn’t train them, they trained me! I just spoiled them!
😂
Yep. Sounds like my approach.
Kisses, kisses, kisses, then we wake up. My Dachshund runs around my apt .at 50 miles an hour.
I've been a Doxie mom for 16 years. Sadly losing my 15 year old about 9 months ago, I now have two female Doxie puppies, one Piebald and a wired hair.
We lost our sweet baby just over 3 years ago and still miss him terribly. He was 10 years ago.
I have a seven year old mix. He’s wonderful ❤
Yes we currently have 3 healthy happy dachshunds...jack..lilly..and theo. Also recommended is to brush their teeth daily😊
Don’t walk with a collar. Use a harness.
Agreed but I have a chiweenie and cannot find a harness that fits both his big chest and skinnier neck
Any ideas
I have a 7 yr old male. Miniature dachshund. He is the joy of my life. Always happy to see me❤
I was worried when I clicked on this video but then I found out I'm doing everything right :)
I love my daschunds. I have had four. I just got my 12 week old one two weeks ago, Remi. I just love her. She is so sweet and mild mannered. They are all different. 1st one was quiet and sweet, 2nd one was temperamental but very devoted. My third is a very loving dog but headstrong. And my new one is a little shy, sweet and loves to cuddle. I love them all.
Yes pet parent here
Yes I have two Black and Tan Dachshunds. 7 months and 3 months.
Got 2 Boyz, brothers, the best buddy's ever !
We have a 13 year old mini Dashund her name is Pickles and she is the best pet I have ever have and very loyal and healthy for the most part
I have one (I adopted one from an animal shelter in Las Vegas). She is a bit stubborn at times, but she is manageable and as this footage discusses; "They love Food" this one area I am working on as she loves to eat. She is red in color, but with longer legs and pulls more on the Miniature Pinscher side in her face and has the long back, with short floppy ears such as the Min Pin breed. I walk her often, but I realize that she needs more movement/exercise and plan to bring her hiking canyons where she can use up more of her energy. She has lots of toys to play with and I make her food rather than only Pet Store foods. These dogs females, tend to get UTI's and should have a diet to help prevent them from having often UTI's. Nevertheless, these are great dogs are very active and very entertaining.
I got one she's the boss 😂❤

In Germany we call them Dackel. Or: "Fuß! Hier her! Komm... Du kleines... Komm jetzt! Nein!?! Nicht schon wieder das blöde Karnickel..."
We had a weinnie dog from around 1997 to 2015 best dog we ever had, he was the best, loved him so much RIP Baxter 😢
My dad loved that dog, he was my dad’s little buddy. They were like two peas in a pod. They slept together him always at my dad’s lower legs and he got up early in the morning with my dad and they went out every morning. Wheh he died a part of my dad died. He loved that dog like his own son, he would sometimes mistakenly call me by his name and we would laugh about it lol RIP dad RIP Baxter
Have a 13 yo black and tan now black and white named Tov. No amount of socialization as a puppy has. Convinced him to be friendly to other dogs but he is great with kids and adults. Used to growl at adult men until my son grew into one.
