    These were questions I had. TY for explaining to someone who never owned a quality hedge trimmer. All my other equipment for the most part is STIHL. Best stuff that I've owned.

    I've been working with outdoor power equipment nearly my whole life, and i recently started a property maintenance business in PA where I use hedge trimmers quite often. I've been getting by with the home depot special for the past season, and I'm planning on investing in the HS82R model. I really appreciate the attention to detail, the experience, and the knowledge that was put into making this review, and it was beyond helpful to me. It's becoming harder to find content that is geared towards people that understand how to maintenance and repair stuff like this, and I'm glad you're presenting the information in this manner. Very professional.

    Great video. I've got the older model in this video. Not abused too bad, chainsaw through air filter casing which I've never repaired but still runs fine had it about 6 years I think now though. Trouble is I had a near full time jib last year where I used their electronic stihl and it was phenomenal. Using mine now it's SO loud I'm not sure if there's something wring with it like baffles have gone or something?
    Also when should I replace the blades? Stupidly i sharpened them with an angle grinder heavy handedly a few years ago so they just don't keep an edge now and there always seems to be slack between blades

    My HS82T is definitely leaking fuel from the bottom of the Carburetor, but it still runs fine from cold. But after it’s hot for about an hour of use it seems to have fuel delivery issues and shuts off when I gas it.I then Will have to turn it off pump fuel manually to the carburetor via that clear pump thingy under the choke, and hold the throttle full blast to get it running again.

    Hi Wally, thanks for the informative video!
    One question I still have however, is what is the difference between the HS 81 and the HS 82? They look similar but there must be a reason for the model number to have been updated.

    I have an HS 82 that has difficulty starting, It won't stay running after it starts, I usually start it by squeezing the primer bulb it 3-5 times, and setting the choke to full, then pull until it runs, usually about 2-3 pulls, then I depress the throttle for a while after it starts, but when I let go of the throttle it shuts off

  • @tgsgardenmaintenance4627

    Pardon the pun, but Stihl haven't needed to buy an 82, as my 81R Stihl runs perfectly after 10 years of commercial abuse!! ❤️ mine and never though anything could match it, however the Husqvarna 522HDR75X does just that, if not more! Would definitely recommend both!

    I bought an 82t late last summer. I was very impressed with it. It has been working fine this year until a few days ago when it started reving really high sporadically. Today when i was using them the problem got much worse and much more frequent. It didnt matter what angle i was holding them at. They idle fine, but when i hit the throttle even a little bit today, they surge/ rev very high until i let off. Any thoughts or solutions ? Still a carb issue?

    • @wallysworkin823
      @wallysworkin823  Před měsícem +1

      Sounds like a carb issue, if fuel is leaking around the air filter or exhaust you may need a carb overhaul or a new one.

    • @wallysworkin823
      @wallysworkin823  Před 9 měsíci

      Does it rev up normally or does it bog? If it revs up normally with no blade movement you could have a broken clutch drum.

    My HS 82t is going on its 3rd season (homeowner with 1/4 mile of 7’ tall hedge)
    I started experiencing lack of fuel delivery and the unit would die out. The fuel bulb was nearly empty. I removed the carb several times to see if anything was going on there. I replaced the fuel lines as well. Unit would run good for 30 or so minutes and start to die again. Broke out the unit for this season and got a couple hours out of it before it starved for fuel again. I noticed the vent was wet. Would this be causing my starving for fuel issue and if so why? Thanks in advance!

    • @blakefox476
      @blakefox476 Před 10 měsíci

      try removing the gas cap next time it dies out. if it releases pressure your vent is the issue.

    Whats the fix for the common leaking carburettor issue?
    Many thanks.

    • @wallysworkin823
      @wallysworkin823  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Either a carb replacement or replacing the fuel pump diaphragm in the carb. There has been issues with the fuel pump gasket rubbing on the carb housing causing holes in the gasket. A complete overall kit may fix the issue.

    Ever since I bought my hs82t it has always given me the same problem. Never took it in for servicing. Just used my other machines. The problem is when cutting vertically it will always start to rev really high. I will start with the tip down and when I start to rotate the trimmer to make the cut it just takes off. The few times I've needed to use it, it works okay and will do the job. It's just really annoying and takes more time to do the work.
