Kiplimo is quickly becoming the greatest HM runner ever. It wouldn't surprise me if he is the runner to break 2 hours in the marathon one day.

Marathon is a different game.
That's a probability, he may end up being great in marathon even than kipchoge or end up like Zersenay Tadese who did not do well in marathon regardless of being unbeatable in half marathon.
@@osuk1 very true. I think kelvin kiptum future in marathon is far predictable than that of Kiplimo even with just one marathon win during his debut last year.

It was amazing to see these guys run in person , as I was running this too . Congrats on a superb race . Conditions were so difficult but so happy to get a pb of 1:12:42!!

Slow compared to Kiplimo
Kiplimo makes this race look like a leisurely jog. He is so young yet so talented at these distances. If he stays consistent I think were watching the making of the heir to Kipchoge

Kiplimo has it all, hardest surge, amazing home stretch kick and one of the greatest stamina. It was honestly just walk in the central park for him and one of the most dominating performance as victory of the history.

I know Gideys WR time was achieved with much better conditions, but her time would have placed her 4th in this race lol

The temps sucked but the wind was the killer, which makes it all the more impressive. 10+mph winds from WNW direction, so you pretty much had a headwind for most of the course.
If that's the case Obiri was the real story of this race, to have beaten the event record in those conditions. It would have been more relevant to make a video on her.

It's a unique course to see some of the best run with hills in the first 5k, then a big downhill, then a big bridge to a flat section. Seems they knew how to pace it well and the elites stuck to a solid plan. Really fun to watch and run the other day!
I was there,Kiplimo was flying. Cheptegei was not far behind,but Kiplimo had a nice gap on him on Central Park south

It’s kinda cool to see that two of the Japanese athletes who ran in the Hakone Ekiden (the most well known and elite college 10 man long distance relay race) both placed top 20 because I was wondering how the Hakone Ekiden rivals other foreign competition

By now I think Kiplimo has officially overtaken Cheptegei’s number one seat of Road running.
When we see a sub 2 hour marathon it will most likeley be come from Kiplimo, Barega or Kiptum.
They are all significantly younger than Cheptegei and imo lighter to the eye in terms of running form.
Only think I find pretty said is that we are propably not see as fast track times (5.000m/10.000m) when most of the top guys (Kejelcha, Cheptegei, Aregawi, Kiplimo, Kipruto, Barega and slowly eyeing up their Marathon career built up)
Where did Rupp finish?
How can you even discuss the number one seat of road running without mentioning Eliud Kipchoge

@@nichokituku4799 I'm saying he's too slow to be running a sub 2 marathon in an official race because of his age. He probably has a few years left and a few more marathons so the chances of him breaking sub 2 is very slim compared to kiptum and kiplimo or barega who has like at least 15 years left before retiring.

Is the women’s race going to get its own breakdown? When you do videos on single performances it’s well deserved. But I think entire meet/race result breakdowns with a little more attention to top athletes would be a better format

My also concern for Kiplimo is that Jacob is going to pick a half Marathon and request his coach to adjust hoş training and train for a world record time.
These two are great friends and great competitors.
Kiplimo is a fantastik runner and his got more of a better running form on the longer distance for the road the Jacob but Jacob historically always comebacks very hard after loosing races.
Brilliant runs by all but where are the on-course spectators? If this had been in the 80's there would have been 10 deep crowds at the end....

To break 2hrs in his marathon debut that's not true may be after sometime when he gets used to it. Remember half marathon n full marathon are different one can not be good in both. Maybe Kelvin Kiptum who in his debut ran 2 .01.53.

It’s also pretty crazy to see the range of Cheptegei. I have to imagine he’s going to try to run the 5k/10k double again this year at worlds, so the fact that he’s able to be even within a minute of Kiplimo in a tactical half marathon like this is super impressive. Kiplimo is an absolute beast also, ridiculous athlete.
Those guys are amazing. However, it doesn't makes sense comparing Lisbon to the NYC Half. The NYC Half has a great deal of elevation gain and Lisbon is pancake flat.

I thought this would have really suited the 5k and 10k world record holder, Cheptegei. An easy warm up first 10k then a progressive pace second 10k. Surely this was ideal for Cheptegei to win. Kiplimo must be better than him now? This is two victories in a row after world XC champs at Bathurst.
Half marathon is not the marathon. It is also not in the Olympics or word championships
